#10 THE ME YOU LOVE IN THE DARK #1 SKOTTIE YOUNG (1:25) | IMAGE | 2021 Writer Skottie Young and artist Jorge Corona follow up their MIDDLEWEST series with this new horror book. Horror comics are back in full force and dominating the shelves. The solicitation reads “An artist named Ro retreats from the grind of the city to an old house in a small town to find solace and inspiration without realizing the muse within is not what she expected. Fans of Stephen King and Neil Gaiman will enjoy this beautiful, dark, and disturbing story of discovery, love, and terror.” This Skottie Young 1:25 was a big hit this week and sold 41 copies with a 7-day trend of 91% and had a high sale of $71 for a raw copy.
#9 RED ROOM #3 JIM RUGG TMNT HOMAGE (1:15) | FANTAGRAPHICS | 2021 Again, horror books are super hot. However, this 1:15 variant is trending due to its homage to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1. As seen from the massive success of STRAY DOGS, homage covers are also back in a very big way. This variant sold 44 copies, had a 7-day trend of 91% and had a high sale of $100 for a raw copy.
#8 GHOST RIDER #1 | MARVEL | 1990 This 90’s classic Ghost Rider cover features the first appearance of Danny Ketch (the 2nd Ghost Rider) and also the villain Deathwatch. This book is trending due to loose rumors of a Danny Ketch Ghostrider/Midnight Sons project being one of the rumored “9 new Marvel shows” that are in development. It sold 30 copies, had a 7-day trend of 141% and had a high sale of $576 for a CGC 9.8.
#7 GHOST RIDER #28 | MARVEL | 1992 As noted above, there are loose rumors/speculation that a Danny Ketch led Midnight Sons is in development for Disney+. This issue features the first cameo appearance of The Midnight Sons (via a future premonition). Their first full appearance is Ghost Rider #31. Issue #28 is the market preference and sold 37 copies, had a 7-day trend of 129% and had a high sale of $400 for a CGC 9.8.
#6 MOON KNIGHT #1 | MARVEL | 1980 Moon Knight anticipation is ramping up. The first issue for his first ongoing series sold 38 copies, had a 7-day trend of 144% and had a hugh raw sale of $504.
#5 THE NICE HOUSE ON THE LAKE #1 | DC | 2021 James Tynion’s new series holds on the list AGAIN, for the 5th straight week. This book had an even higher surge in sales this week with 52 copies sold, a 7-day trend of 107% and had a high sale of $175 for a CGC 9.8.
#4 INFINITE CRISIS #5 | DC | 2006 This issue features the first appearance of Jamie Reyes as The (New) Blue Beetle. The Hollywood Reporter recently reported that “Cobra Kai’ Star Xolo Maridueña in Talks to Lead DC’s ‘Blue Beetle’” This also came on the heels of the recent announcement of Angel Manuel Soto directing the film. This news moved 33 copies, had a 7-day trend of 177% and had a high sale of $220 for a CGC 9.6.
#3 INFINITE CRISIS #3 | DC | 2005 Lately, the market seems to favor a character’s first appearance over their first in costume. This is a notable shift for today’s modern characters. For example, this issue features the first appearance of Jaime Reyes, who (as noted) took on the mantle of BLUE BEETLE in issue #5. It sold 38 copies, had a 7-day trend of 157% and had a high sale of $290 for a CGC 9.8.
#2 SUPERMAN #4 | DC | 1986 Idris Elba’s role as BLOODSPORT was clearly the central character in the new SUICIDE SQUAD film. There are expectations (or maybe hope) that we’ll see him continue on in the DCU. His first appearance in this issue went from obscure to hot, where it’s moving 57 copies with a 7-day trend of 130% and a high sale of $375 for a CGC 9.8.
#1 SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED #1 | MARVEL | 1993 In the most recent VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE trailer, we were able to see a little more of Shriek, whose first appearance is in this issue. It sold 66 copies, had a 7-day trend of 115% and had a high sale of $240 for a CGC 9.8.
