CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for 10/1/21

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 THE UNITED STATES CAPTAIN OF AMERICA #4 PEACH MOMOKO (1:25) | MARVEL | 2021
It’s been a while since we’ve had a Peach Momoko cover on the list, but here she is. This series of UNITED STATES OF CAPTAIN AMERICA has been introducing a new Captain America with each issue. This is no different from the first appearance of Ari Agbayani, a Filipino hero whom the creator Alyssa Wong was inspired by Bucky Barnes’ version of Captain America. This is definitely a book to watch. It sold 29 copies, had a 7-day trend of 98% and had a high sale of $63 for a raw copy.

#12 BATMAN SECRET FILES MIRACLE MOLLY #1 LITTLE THUNDER MINIMAL (1:25) | DC | 2021
This Little Thunder 1:25 minimal variant was simply a hard one to find in the wild. Many collectors turning to online sales, which helped move 25 copies, gave it a 7-day trend of 151% and had a high sale of $51 for a raw copy.

#13 HIT MONKEY #1 | MARVEL | 2010
As noted, the recent HIT MONKEY Hulu Trailer set several books on fire. However, ever the growing trend, the market went into the more affordable first on-going series issue here, where it sold 14 copies, had a 7-day trend of 205% and had a high sale of $35 for a raw copy.

#14 CATWOMAN #35 KAEL NGU (1:25) | DC | 2021
These 1:25 WANTED posters seem to be relatively popular and are currently a light-collecting trend. This week, this Catwoman #35 variant sold 25 copies, had a 7-day trend of 111% and had a high sale of $59.99 for a raw copy.

#15 YOUNG AVENGERS #1 | MARVEL | 2005
While packed with 1st appearance, Kate Bishop’s first in this issue could be adding extra fuel to the Young Avengers fire. Though, this book has a lot going for it and is clearly one of the key books for Marvel phase 4. This week, it sold 21 copies, had a 7-day trend of 111% and had a high sale of $1,189.99 for a CGC 9.8.

#16 FANTASTIC FOUR #244 | MARVEL | 1982
This issue features the first appearance of Frankie Raye/ Nova (not that Nova). It sold 13 copies, had a 7-day trend of 175% and had a high sale of $57 for a raw copy. While Frankie became a herald for Galactus, it’s still unknown why this book is suddenly moving.

#17 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #361 NEWSSTAND | MARVEL | 1992
VENOM 2: LET THERE BE CARNAGE landed BOTH the direct and newsstand version on the list this week, both getting a boost in price. This newsstand sold 22 copies, had a 7-day trend of 100% and had a high sale of $1,200 for a CGC 9.8.

#18 CAPTAIN AMERICA #25 | MARVEL | 2014
As you know, FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER is now CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE WINTER SOLDIER. With the famous question “Who is the new Captain America” posed inside the silhouette on the cover, we see the passing of the shield from Steve Rogers to his good friend Sam Wilson, who also proclaims “Avengers Assemble!” for the first time inside these pages. This had a huge surge when we finally saw Sam in the Cap costume… but then it had a huge drop. It seems to be on its way back up with 20 copies sold, had a 7-day trend of 111% and had a high sale of $299.99 for a CGC 9.8. Though, it’s still a far cry from the all-time high of $660 for a 9.8 in April 2021.

#19 X-MEN ANNUAL #14 | MARVEL | 1990
The market has long put Uncanny X-Men #266 upfront as the 1st appearance of Gambit, but there’s always been X-Men Annual #14 lingering out there with its couple panel, no speaking part Gambit cameo – just enough for people to debate the ‘true first appearance’ of our favorite bayou-based mutant. This “first appearance” sold 14 copies, had a 7-day trend of 147% and had a high sale of $118.14 for a CGC 9.2.

#20 SPAWN #1 | IMAGE | 1992
What’s left to say about SPAWN #1? It has a massive print run and content seems like a ways away… still, Spawn is one of the most beloved modern comic characters that’s driven by nostalgia and McFarlane fans… and MAYBE content one day… we’ll see. This week, it sold 19 copies, had a 7-day trend of 99% and had a high sale of $229.50 for a CGC 9.8.

  1. It’s not unknown as to why Frankie is trending. The Haslab Galactus got funded and she is one of the figures being released with it. People want the book for display and to learn more about this lesser known character.
