Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 8/24/22

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

Light week this week Wednesday Warriors, but here is what is on tap.

New #1’s
Damage Control #1 – Damage Control is getting more and more play in the MCU so it is the perfect time to start a new series focused on them.

End After End #1 – New Vault comics sword and sorcery type book. Life is nothing if not a series of endings. School. Jobs. Friendships. Love. Until THE end. Walter Willem’s end was fast and unexpected. His was an unremarkable life. So, how is it that his story continues as cannon fodder in an endless war waged against an insatiable darkness hellbent on consuming all of existence? And is Walter right in believing he’s arrived in the midst of this titanic battle as the one destined to finally end it? That’s the tale of the End After End.

Evanescence Echoes From The Void #1 – Opus Comics have been putting out great band related comics. This small press book is based off the work of Evanescence, great crossover potential for sales. (And speaking of crossover potential, see the TPB of the week Below)

Gun Honey Blood For Blood #1 – Gun Honey returns for a new mini series. First series did really well. Ton of great covers on this one, and lets face it, the covers sell the book. I think the Artgerm cover is the best of the bunch, but there is also an Adam Hughes cover, which also got an FOC Copic Variant of the Hughes cover, and a Nude Cover as well.

Kold #1 – New Source Point Press horror title.

Minor Threats #1 – New Dark Horse series by comedian Patton Oswalt. Covers include a Foil Logo Cover, an FOC Ward Cover (limited to one per at Midtown), and a Mike Mignola variant. Its hard out there for a supervillain. Not the world conquerors, chaos engines, or arch-nemeses . . . but the little guys. The ones who put on uniforms, knock over jewelry stores, and get tied to poles. And things are about to get worse. The psychotic Stickman has murdered Kid Dusk, sidekick to Twilight Citys premier crime-fighter, the Insomniac. The Insomniacs teammates are tearing Twilight apart, turning it into a police state–desperate to capture Stickman and stop the Insomniac from crossing that final line in which he may never come back from. Caught in the middle are the small-time c-list villains, finding it impossible to walk down the street without being harassed by these heroes. With a bounty on the Stickmans head, former villain Playtime decides to assemble a ragtag team of villains to take down the Stickman and kill him themselves.
