Poyo’s Spec and Picks for November 1st/2nd, 2022

Welcome to this weeks spec and picks. This is where we pick the winners each week we (or shall I say myself) think will be spec worthy, a great read or just cool looking art on the cover.

Marvel Picks

Avengers Forever #10 (Tbd Artist Games Variant) – Buy it for the cover. Already sold out at Midtown currently (they could have more or order more, so this isn’t a telltale sign of any spec potential).

Avengers Forever #10 (Tbd Artist Games Variant)

Hulk #10 hints at new character. Might be a worthy grab for the just in case.

Hulk #10 (Su Beyond Amazing Spider-Man Variant)

Hulk #10

Midnight Suns #1 (of 5) (2nd Ptg Game Variant) gets a second printing. For you all collecting the design variants for this series, it’s a must grab. You can still get a few of the others available at TFAW:

Midnight Suns #1 (of 5) (Game Variant)
Midnight Suns #3 (of 5) (Games Variant)

Midnight Suns #1 (of 5) (2nd Ptg Game Variant)

Predator #4 (Sakai Variant) – I love this Stan Sakai cover. It’s a must I think.

Predator #4 (Sakai Variant)

Secret Invasion #1 (of 5) has a lot of potential I think since we’ll be getting a show on Disney+. This type of title has the potential for a lot of firsts within.

Secret Invasion #1 (of 5) (Dellotto Variant)
Secret Invasion #1 (of 5) (Nauck Headshot Variant)
Secret Invasion #1 (of 5) (Young Variant)
Secret Invasion #1 (of 5) (25 Copy Camuncoli Variant)
Secret Invasion #1 (of 5) (100 Copy Dellotto Virgin Variant)

Secret Invasion #1 (of 5)

Just like Secret Invasion, lots of potential for Tiger Division #1 (of 5) spec wise. Any character could pop up with a first to make these worthwhile.

Tiger Division #1 (of 5) (Artgerm Variant)
Tiger Division #1 (of 5) (Yune Variant)
Tiger Division #1 (of 5) (Ron Lim Trading Card Variant)
Tiger Division #1 (of 5) (Momoko Variant)

Tiger Division #1 (of 5) (50 Copy Yoon Variant)
Batman & the Joker the Deadly Duo #1 (of 7) (Cover G – 1:250 Marc Silvestri Signed Variant)

Tiger Division #1 (of 5)

DC Picks

Batman & the Joker the Deadly Duo #1 (of 7) could be an interesting read. The story has to be top notch to keep me buying more though.

Batman & the Joker the Deadly Duo #1 (of 7) (Cover B – Greg Capullo Batman Variant)
Batman & the Joker the Deadly Duo #1 (of 7) (Cover C – Greg Capullo Joker Variant)
LCSD 2022 Batman & the Joker the Deadly Duo #1 (of 7) (Foil Card Stock Variant)
Batman & the Joker the Deadly Duo #1 (of 7) (Cover D – 1:25 Kyle Hotz Variant)
Batman & the Joker the Deadly Duo #1 (of 7) (Cover F – 1:100 Jorge Fornes Variant) – Love this cover!

Batman & the Joker the Deadly Duo #1 (of 7) (Cover A - Marc Silvestri)

For you foil lovers from the 90s, comes Batman #129 (Cover D – Ryan Benjamin 90s Cover Month Foil Multi-Level Embossed Card Stock Variant). It’s half the price that Midtown has theirs listed at.

Batman #129 (Cover D - Ryan Benjamin 90s Cover Month Foil Multi-Level Embossed Card Stock Variant)

There’s also the Joker the Man Who Stopped Laughing #2 (Cover D – Kelley Jones 90s Cover Month Foil Multi-Level Embossed Variant) as well, sold out at Midtown but half the price at TFAW.

Joker the Man Who Stopped Laughing #2 (Cover D - Kelley Jones 90s Cover Month Foil Multi-Level Embossed Variant)

Poison Ivy #6 and all the rest of the covers are just pretty top notch if you ask me.

Poison Ivy #6 (Cover B – Warren Louw Card Stock Variant)
Poison Ivy #6 (Cover C – Jenny Frison Card Stock Variant)
Poison Ivy #6 (Cover D – 1:25 Janaina Medeiros Card Stock Variant)

Poison Ivy #6 (Cover A - Jessica Fong)

Indie and Small Publisher Picks

The Ones #1 is a new Bendis title from Dark Horse. Might be worth checking out. His creator owned stuff is far superior to his DC and Marvel work I think.

For you EC and Sci-fi fans out there, EC Archives Incredible Science Fiction Trade Paperback is out this week. I’m picking one up cause well I love sci-fi and the older EC stuff (since most of the originals are out of my price range I’m willing to spend money for).

Do we have another potential Eight Billion Genies type of popularity title with Hell To Pay from Soule? Seems like TFAW is completely out of stock except for Hell to Pay #1 (Cover E – 25 Copy Del Mundo Variant)

Hell to Pay #1 (Cover E - 25 Copy Del Mundo Variant)

Behold Behemoth #1 (of 5) (Cover A – Robles) might be a grab but the plot and story is nothing new or groundbreaking. It’ll certainly be a skim before deciding. Of course, BOOM! might make this the most desirable book with their marketing madness that somehow some still fall for, but we’ll see. Don’t go all FOMO! on us.

Behold Behemoth #1 (of 5) (Cover E – FOC Reveal Paquette)
Behold Behemoth #1 (of 5) (Cover C – 25 Copy Lemire Variant) – I do like Lemire’s art work though!
Behold Behemoth #1 (of 5) (Cover D – 50 Copy Sorrentino Variant)

Behold Behemoth #1 (of 5) (Cover A - Robles)

Only one on eBay from I can tell and sold out at most major shops comes Disturbed Dark Messiah #5 Ghost Rider Homage variant. It’s not over done (as of yet) so as a Ghost Rider fan, I like it.

Fruiting Bodies looks great. I love the very indie small publisher titles, you get some great stories and unique and creative artwork within.

This one called Natures Labyrinth #1 reminds me of the movie No Escape. So I’m on board, an island of criminals? Yes!
