CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 1/27/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 BODY BAGS #1 | DARK HORSE | 1996
The comic book community continues to take emotionally-taxing hits as another creator has passed away. Last week it was announced that Jason Pearson, the writer and artist of the series “Body Bags,” passed away in December. Aside from this series, Pearson also worked on Grendel, Batman: Gotham Knights, and illustrated covers for Robin and the Amazing Spider-Man. However, Body Bags was the title he was most known for in the comic community. The series followed a father-daughter pair of bounty hunters on their various violent ventures. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 116%, with a high sale of $119.99 for a CGC 9.4.

#12 SPAWN #1 | IMAGE | 1992
We can’t recall a time when Spawn wasn’t on our top lists. It continuously proves to be one of the best-selling comic books! We tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 106%, with a high sale of $201 for a CGC 9.8. An FMV for a raw NM copy is $37.

#13 SPIDER-MAN #1 SILVER | MARVEL | 1990
McFarlane’s Spider-Man cover is still selling well! The signing is over, and most people eagerly anticipate their certified signature slabs. In the meantime, collectors still find tons of value in picking up this legendary cover. We tracked 21 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 127%, with a high sale of $221 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $18.

#14 SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992
Miguel O’Hara looks terrific in the latest Spider-Verse trailer! We see more toy leaks and promotional artwork for the new movie every day, and it’s clear that Spider-Man 2099 plays a titular role in the film. No wonder fans have still been picking this book up nonstop! We tracked 30 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 78%, with a high sale of $149.95 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $14.

#15 STAR WARS THE MANDALORIAN #1 | MARVEL | 2022
This book has dropped from the Top 10 list since last week, but it is far from falling off our lists completely. The new trailer has renewed interest in the Mandalorian and Grogu, and their first appearance will probably see a resurgence when we get closer to the Season 3 debut! We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 116%, with a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8. For a book with a $9 NM FMV, that’s a solid price for a 9.8!

#16 NIGHTWING #100 BABS TARR (1:25) | DC | 2023
Many congratulations to Nightwing on reaching his 100-issue milestone! This celebratory issue debuted with tons of variants. The incentive 1:25 cover has been the cover that has captivated fans (at a lower price-point than the pricey 1:100 and 1:150). Babs Tarr illustrates a beautiful virgin cover with Barbara and Dick in a loving embrace. We tracked 38 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 52%, with a high sale of $50 for a raw copy. However, the current NM FMV has since settled to $13.

#17 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #17 LORENZO PASTROVICCHIO DISNEY 100 AVENGERS B&W COVER F (1:100) | MARVEL | 2023

1:100 ratio covers are usually difficult to obtain. This particular Disney cover came and went with barely a trace. It now is one floating around forums and eBay as the ghost it is. The black and white cover is currently going for a decent premium, but that doesn’t stop many collectors from continuing to pay top dollar. This particular cover is a must-have for those collecting comics and Disney memorabilia. We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 151%, with a high sale of $249.99 for an NM copy, with an overall NM FMV of $200.

#18 THE JOKER THE MAN WHO STOPPED LAUGHING #4 LEE BERMEJO COVER B | DC | 2023
Ever wonder what a vomited Joker mud-baby would look like? Wonder no more. Zatanna provides the readers with the opportunity to visualize this whole zany process. While there has been some controversy over the Joker’s “pregnancy,” the story progresses as a trippy parody of an origin story. Don’t let the clickbait articles stop you from reading this weird origin story of Joker’s kid! We tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 78%, with a high sale of $28 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $8 (MyComicShop has been listing VF copies each day for $4.79).

#19 MARVEL PREMIERE #47 | MARVEL | 1979
Scott and Cassie Lang are gearing up for some reality-breaking adventures in Quantumania. As they face off with none other than Kang, collectors are quickly picking up their first appearance before the movie debuts in less than a month! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 107%, with a high sale of $460 for a CGC 9.6 copy. FMV for a raw NM copy is $150.

#20 WOLVERINE #1 | MARVEL | 1988
Wolverine is the best at what he does, and what he does is stay on our lists! Whether he is in the top 10 or runner-ups, Wolverine’s first solo series has remained a top collector’s choice. While it has no significant first appearances, it has a notable cover and is a great collector’s item to possess. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 89%, with a high sale of $411.66 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $46.
