CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 3/3/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #7 | MARVEL | 2014
Per GiantFreakinRobot, Henry Cavil is rumored to be in talks to play Spider-Man UK in an upcoming Sony project. While fans would be thrilled to get Cavil in another superhero role after his departure from the DCU, take this news with a grain of salt. At this time, nothing is confirmed. Regardless, even the mere rumor caused the first full appearance of Spider-Man UK to see a spike. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 129%, with a high sale of $49 for a raw copy and an NM FMV of $15.

#12 THOR #31 RUSSELL DAUTERMAN (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023
This 1:25 Dauterman variant features an excellent cover sporting nearly every depiction of Thor across the ages. Fitting, as the book features an epic new storyline where the gates of Valhalla have been broken open, and it’s up to Thor to help stop it. This event could reverberate across all of Marvel comics. Is this the beginning of the next big thing? Only time will tell! We tracked 31 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 75%, with a high sale of $51 for a raw copy and a current NM FMV of $35.

#13 X-MEN #282 | MARVEL | 1991
It’s odd to see this book trending again, as news regarding Bishop has been pretty scarce the past few months. Last the community heard, he was rumored to return for X-MEN 97, finally arriving this fall. Children of the 90s immediately took a liking, and a whole new generation took note when he appeared in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Otherwise, it remains a cheap and plentiful first full appearance for a fan-favorite character in Bishop. We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 186%, with a high sale of $180 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $20.

#14 ASTONISHING X-MEN #9 | MARVEL | 2005
Ryan Reynolds (in a Deadpool costume, sitting on the toilet) was seen reading Wolverine #21 (2022) in the Deadpool/Wolverine announcement teaser. That issue features Wolverine and Deadpool teaming up to fight Danger. This led many to believe she’ll be the main villain for the third Deadpool film. Her first appearance in this issue immediately gained traction and recently re-picked up steam. However, Justin Kroll, a trusted Deadline reporter, debunked this rumor. The sales of this issue are still trending due to the market being confident that she’ll be playing the sentient alien technology. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 118%, with a high sale of $149.77 for a CGC 9.8. The current raw NM FMV of $22.

#15 SUPERMAN #1 JAMAL CAMPBELL VIRGIN B&W FOIL (1 PER STORE) | DC | 2023
Not only is this book the premiere issue in the new Superman standalone series, but it also sports two first appearances in Kryptonite Claw and the Super Corp, a corporation gifted to Superman by Lex Luthor. The community tends to invest heavily in a new take on the man in blue (at least initially). Add in a rare virgin B&W foil variant limited to 1 per store, and you have some hype building! We tracked 45 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 80%, with a high sale of $50 for a raw copy and a current NM FMV of $26.

#16 THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #20 TERRY DODSON (1:25) | MARVEL | 2023
*STORY SPOILERS*
Oh boy, the community has emotionally responded to this book. Spider-Man and Mary Jane are done! She has been relegated to more of a “feels like a sister” role (weird), and Spidey is entirely on board the Black Cat train. While mixed feelings about the developing situation exist, some fans opted to secure the 1:25 Dodson variant featuring the new lovebirds in their iconic upside-down kiss. We tracked 30 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 71%, with a high sale of $25 for a raw copy and a current NM FMV of $21.

#17 THE AVENGERS #269 | MARVEL | 1986
*ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTAMANIA SPOILERS*
This book dropped quite a bit from last week, as has fans’ interest in ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTAMANIA. Still, the end credit scene revealed several Kang variants, including one of his more famous in Rama Tut. His origin is detailed in this book, and while fans have had mixed feelings about the overall film, it’s unanimous that people want more Kang. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend o f141%, with a high sale of $70 for a CGC 9.6 copy and an NM FMV of $11.

#18 AVENGERS #268 | MARVEL | 1986
This book is smack dab between two books that have recently seen some heat. While this book has flown under the radar, it’s receiving a fair bit more attention as it features a story titled “Kang Dynasty.” The next Avengers film has the title AVENGERS: KANG DYNASTY, so naturally, fans are taking a keener interest. Plus, it’s a reasonably cheap book with a fabulous cover! We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 161%, with a high sale of $144.23 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw VF FMV of $9.

#19 SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992
We are so close! SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE will be here before we know it, and all signs point to Miguel O’Hara’s Spider-Man 2099 being a central player. Fans have been picking this book up steadily for months and expect that to increase as more promotional material like toys, stills, and more trickle out during the lead-up to release. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 94%, with a high sale of $250 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $14.

#20 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984
This book ebbs and flows more than the tides! With good reason. Marvel has plans to release a SECRET WARS film, although WHEN it will release is up in the air as a chunk of Marvel’s slate has been pushed back. The WHAT is also ambiguous because no one knows if they will adapt this run or the more recent 2015 run with the same title. Either way, it remains a modern key that many fans will seek to acquire regardless of film news, as it features the origin of the Black Suit that would later be revealed as Venom. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 104%, with a high sale of $720 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $179.
