CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 3/24/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 LAZARUS PLANET REVENGE OF THE GODS #1 DANIEL SAMPERE VIRGIN FOIL (1:50) | DC | 2023
Negative space variants are one of the most sought-after variants, and most are only offered through artist websites or retailer exclusives. However, this 1:100 retailer incentive may be more attainable (maybe not) than most, but significantly more expensive on release day. This negative space variant by DC artist Daniel Sampere is a gorgeous foil featuring the graceful Wonder Woman. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 68%, with a high sale of $175 for a raw copy.

#12 TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES THE LAST RONIN THE LOST YEARS #2 MICHAEL DEL MUNDO VIRGIN (1:100) | IDW | 2023
There is so much to say about this epic cover. On February 23, 1945, Joe Rosenthal immortalized the image of six US Marines planting a flag on a battle hill on the island of Iwo Jima. This iconic image is given homage in this beautiful cover by Michael Del Mundo. We see the Last Ronin struggling to lift the flag on the battlefield. Who else would come to his aid than his fallen brothers? It is compelling imagery for one of the darker stories in the TMNT universe. We tracked 6 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 70%, with a high sale of $118 for a raw copy.

#13 STAR WARS THE MANDALORIAN #1 | MARVEL | 2022
The third season of The Mandalorian is off to a strong start. Din Djarin is on a quest to redeem himself in the Mandalorian Creed. He also has his surrogate son, Grogu, to keep him company. Bo-Katan has appeared and has a more prominent role this season than in previous ones. All this to say, The Mandalorian and Grogu are fantastic and loved characters by the fandom, and it only seems wise to collect their first comic appearances. We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 130%, with a high sale of $80 for a CGC 9.8.

#14 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984
Thanks to Dr. Strange’s magic and Tom Hardy’s dimensional travel plans, the infamous alien symbiote has officially entered the MCU. The stage is set for Secret Wars to introduce our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to the black suit costume that eventually becomes Venom. As we wait for more news on the Secret Wars movie, sales on this issue continue to move rapidly! We tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 93%, with a high sale of $700 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $180.

#15 THE PUNISHER #1 | MARVEL | 1987
Jon Bernthal is returning as Punisher! That is the news that is pushing a ton of Punisher books lately. In this case, the premier issue of the first ongoing solo series. While other key issues of the Punisher are out of reach, this issue is easier for collectors to grab. As we hold tight to see Bernthal return, we might as well relive Punisher’s original adventures! We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 90%, with a high sale of $241 for a CGC 9.8.

#16 STAR WARS DOCTOR APHRA #19 CHRIS SPROUSE LUCASFILM 50TH ANNIVERSARY | MARVEL | 2022
SPOILERS FOR THE LATEST EPISODE (SEASON 3, EPISODE 3) OF THE MANDALORIAN
Bo-Katan Kryze is in the new season of Mandalorian! No, that is not the spoiler for the latest episode. While Bo-Katan has cameoed in the series, no one was entirely sure what sort of future she held in the series. However, the last episode lets fans know that there are larger plans for her character. While Din Djarin searched for the Living Waters, Bo-Katan came to his rescue more than once. In the process, she also bathed in the waters that redeemed her in the old ways of Mandalore. We end the episode by seeing her accepted by her people once again, insinuating that she may be ready to be a part of the clan again. With more considerable lore in the Mando-verse, fans are quickly grabbing her first cover appearance! We tracked 23 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 92%, with a high sale of $10 for a raw copy.

#17 NO/ONE #1 JIM MAHFOOD (1:25) | IMAGE | 2023
Are you a fan of Dateline and tales of murder “who done its?” This new series is for those intrigued by crime mysteries while connected to the Massive-verse of Radiant Black. This issue wastes no time diving into the true crime genre and delivers an intriguing storyline. However, the retailer incentive cover is in the spotlight. The 1:25 ratio is a mesmerizing piece of artwork by Jim Mahfood. Even if you weren’t a fan of true crime, this abstract piece is a unique piece of comic book artwork. We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 140%, with a high sale of $29 for a raw copy.

#18 HULK #1 | MARVEL | 2008
Harrison Ford is Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. For months, we’ve waited on any information this his casting would eventually lead to the Red Hulk, whose first cameo and cover appearance is in this issue. There has been radio silence since the casting announcement. With a little over a year before the movie, there is nothing fans can do except wait. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 79%, with a high sale of $87 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $71 (interesting to see how low 9.6s are worth in comparison to raw NM copies).

#19 UNCANNY X-MEN #266 | MARVEL | 1990
While CGC officially recognizes this issue as Gambit’s first full appearance, fans are still debating. Gambit’s X-MEN ANNUAL #14 appearance is arguably more than a cameo, with multiple panels and even dialogue. However, regarding a comparison of covers, #266 takes the win by a landslide. The Ragin’ Cajun is featured prominently on this fabulous 90’s cover, making it the much more desirable issue to own. We tracked 11 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 125%, with a high sale of $740 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw VF FMV of $153.

#20 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #7 DIRECT | MARVEL | 1984
From Dakota Johnson to Sydney Sweeney, there have been rumors and whispers that one of these talented actresses is playing Spider-Woman. However, no concrete information has yet to be discovered. While some in the industry lay claim to early confirmations, no evidence has been provided to support any theories. Until more solid proof of these rumors surface, this book is swinging back and forth on our top ten and runner-up lists! We tracked 15 copies sold of Secret Wars #7, at a 7-day trend of 75%, with a high sale of $242.50 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $25.
