CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 9/1/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 KNIGHT TERRORS: ANGEL BREAKER #2 HILL 1:25 | DC | 2023
Another Knight Terrors variant breaks into our top lists. These ratio covers have been hard to come by as retailers have been conservatively ordering books. However, this book seems to be the exception, with plenty of copies available. This accessibility has dropped the initial presale value to a current raw NM FMV of $58. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 112%, with a high sale of $85 for a raw copy.

#12 SPAWN #1 | IMAGE | 1992
Spawn has a lot to look forward to in the future! The Spawn movie is still in rumored continued production despite current strikes. Additionally, Spawn is set to debut in a “major game crossover” as a guest appearance. With a movie and game on the horizon, Spawn has tons of life in the aftermarket and doesn’t show signs of slowing down. We tracked 32 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 115%, with a high sale of $179 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $34.

#13 VENOM: LETHAL PROTECTOR #1 | MARVEL | 1993
Todd McFarlane’s back! Kidding… no typos this week! Credit where credit is due, and this phenomenal, iconic cover is thanks to the great Mark Bagley! It is one of the most iconic covers for the most iconic villain in Spider-Man mythos. This book launched Venom in his own solo series and established him as one of the coolest anti-heroes. We tracked 29 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 107%, with a high sale of $200 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $29.

#14 SPIDER-MAN 2099 #1 | MARVEL | 1992
Miguel O’Hara continues to swing across our top lists. One week, he’s in the top ten, the next in the runner-ups, and so forth. Across the Spider-Verse, hype may slowly be dwindling, but it’s not gone. Miguel continues to remind us that Beyond the Spider-Verse is still on its way, and we can’t wait to see the end of this epic trilogy! We tracked 26 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 91%, with a high sale of $185 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $20.

#15 IMMORTAL THOR #1 – MARTIN COCCOLO – FOIL | MARVEL | 2023
First of all, this is an epic cover illustrated by Martin Coccolo. Secondly, it’s a foil variant. And, perhaps most importantly, it introduces Utgard-Realm variants of both Thor and Loki. These three factors made this a highly desirable issue, propelling its value to nearly 3x cover price in less than a week! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 134%, with a high sale of $22 for a raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $16.

#16 ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4 | MARVEL | 2011
Although sales have slowed down on Miles Morales’ first appearance, collectors are still keeping this book hot! This modern grail is currently seeing bargain prices, likely to go up when any news about the last movie in the Spider-Verse trilogy is announced. Until then, many are grabbing their copy before we hear any information on Beyond the Spider-Verse. We tracked 23 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 94%, with a high sale of $1,600 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $489.

#17 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #8 | MARVEL | 1984
Another modern-day grail finds its way back to our top lists. This book is one of the most recognizable covers of Black Suit Spider-Man. It is also the symbiote’s origin that bonds with Spider-Man and creates the black suit, eventually leaving to become Venom. We see this book continue to appear on our top lists. It also sees sales resurgence whenever we get news of Spider-Man, Secret Wars, or Venom. We tracked 31 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 89%, with a high sale of $675 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a raw NM FMV of $143.

#18 SPIDER-MAN #7 – HUMBERTO RAMOS – TOP SECRET SPOILER | MARVEL | 2023
Spider-Boy was an instant hit when he debuted. Copies immediately hit the aftermarket at increased FMV, and the character’s popularity has grown ever since. This November, we will see Spider-Boy star in his own ongoing series. The more we hear about Spider-Boy, the more of a secure future he has in the Marvel universe. Fans are ensuring they have copies of his first appearance before he gets any more popular! We tracked 22 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 92%, with a high sale of $130 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $35.

#19 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #300 | MARVEL | 1988
Another character with a lot to look forward to is Venom. Venom has a bright future ahead of him. Firstly, he will be debuting in the much anticipated Spider-Man 2 video game. Secondly, Venom is set to return in the final part of his film trilogy, Venom 3. Finally, the ingredients to introduce an MCU Venom are already in place, with a piece of Tom Hardy’s Venom symbiote being left behind during the events of No Way Home. This book was already a modern-day grail, and with all the hype behind Venom, it is a solid collector’s item. We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 108%, with a high sale of $4,050 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $688.

#20 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #546 – STEVE MCNIVEN | MARVEL | 2008
Kevin Feige has confirmed that the premise for Spider-Man 4 has already been developed… and that is the only confirmation we have from official sources. Since announcing a Spider-Man 4 movie, Mr. Negative has always been rumored to be a potential villain. Last month, those rumors resurfaced and added a few more contenders to the table. Kingpin, Scorpion, and Kraven were all added to the Mr. Negative rumor as potential villains in the sequel. In terms of speculation, this book has a very low buy-in at this time. If we ever receive confirmation of Mr. Negative, we could see his first appearance rocket through to our top ten list! We tracked 12 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 121%, with a high sale of $130 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $19.
