CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for Week of 10/13/23

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

11. Void Rivals #4 – Karen S. Darboe – Spoiler (1:25)
This book has slowed significantly as Transformers #1 finally hit the shelves. Despite that, this book made our list. Fans love Shockwave, and his new design fits the overall universe Robert Kirkman is building. The tease of Shockwave was enough to get a lot of fans pumped up, as the character has a ton of history behind him and room for a whole lot more. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 106%, with a high sale of $89.95 for an NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $75.

12. DAZZLER VOL.1 #1 – PRINTING ERROR
The Dazzler has been hot as hell lately. Rumors have been swirling for months now with all eyes on this book. That’s led some fans to rediscover this printing error “variant.”. This was Marvel’s first direct-only book, with no copies hitting newsstands. They were still working out the kinks, and books with black-and-white advertisements on pages 24 and 25 hit the market that were supposed to be color. Forty-two years later, it’s seeing a resurgence thanks to the growing subset of collectors who love error books. We tracked 15 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 254%, with a high sale of $264 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $17.

13. Spider-Man 2099 Vol.1 #1
Spider-Man 2099 #1 might have enough juice to land on this list or our Top Ten until at least 2099. He’s still here and making respectable sales. With a quiet “true” first appearance debate raging in the background and the fact he’s coming off the heels of a major movie, it’s not surprising to see it pop up occasionally. But it’s quickly going the Spawn #1 route and coming back week in and out! We tracked 38 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 78%, with a high sale of $146.56 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $21.

14. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 #300
Venom’s first appearance is a modern grail for numerous collectors. It’s been a steady riser through the years, and he only has more in store on the big screen and a screen near you (Spider-Man 2 on the PS5 is right around the corner). He’s become nearly synonymous with Spider-Man, and that’s good company to have! With clout like that, it’s no wonder we tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 118%, with a high sale of $3,800 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $688.

15. THE INFINITY GAUNTLET VOL.1 #1
Thanos #1 is around the corner, and fans are pumped to get another heavily Thanos-centric story. After all, he’s the mad Titan and remains relevant all these years. When the solicitation and covers were released for the upcoming Thanos series, collectors instantly zeroed in on a particular cover that reminded them of this one, the original. It remains to be seen If the new series can live up to the spirit of the original! We tracked 14 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 193%, with a high sale of $201 for a CGC 9.8 and a current raw NM FMV of $44.

16. All-New Wolverine #1 – Bengal – Regular
Deadpool 3 is back in full swing, and good lord, the rumors just won’t quit. That has propelled this book, as it marks the first appearance of X-23 as Wolverine in the classic costume design. Rumor has it there will be a pack of Wolverine variants popping their claws in Deadpool 3, with the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Taron Egerton, and, you guessed it, Daphne Keen’s X-23. With the rumors swirling, fans opted to cover their bases and continue picking up this book. We tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 114%, with a high sale of $125 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $26.

17. Superman For All Seasons #1
James Gunn is incredible at making the community hang on his every word. Recently, after a typical game of 20 questions from fans, he cited this book as one of his favorite Superman stories and an inspiration for the upcoming Superman: Legacy. It’s a Superman classic that takes a deeper look behind the golden boy. It follows him through different points in the distinctly human portion of his life, narrated by those close to him, and has an effect. It’s brimming with heart, and James Gunn has shown repeatedly he can deliver with that. We tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 111%, with a high sale of $12 for a raw copy and a current raw VF FMV of $8. This book is all over, so keep your eyes peeled!

18. WEB OF SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 #1
Black Suit Spider-Man is one of the most badass designs ever put to page. It’s routinely ranked as the favorite iteration of Spider-Man for a wide swath of the community. That’s a significant reason why fans continue to visit this book. It’s an early black suit appearance, rocking an incredible pose, and it’s cheap (relatively). When ASM #300 is out of reach, this is an excellent consolation prize featuring the first appearance of a deep-cut squad, the Vulturions. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 163%, with a high sale of $225 for a CGC 9.8 copy with a raw NM FMV of $24.

19. ULTIMATE FALLOUT #4
Sony recently dropped the newest trailer for Spider-Man 2, heavily featuring Spider-Men, Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Miles has a ton going on for him. He’s got his movies with a 3rd already in the works, comic runs, action figures, etc. He’s everywhere. Also, Marvel is set to revisit the Ultimate Universe, where Miles got his start. With big happenings on the horizon, the fanbase regularly returns to his first appearance in this book. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 100%, with a high sale of $1,499 for a CGC 9.8 and a raw NM FMV of $598.

20. THE NEW MUTANTS VOL.1 #98 – ROB LIEFELD – REGULAR
The writer’s strike is over, yet many movies remain on hold. Not Deadpool 3! Disney confirmed they are committed to the early 2024 release date, and fans rejoiced. Thus, they take another gander at this book that has hit a recent lull with no news coming out. Potty mouth and all, Deadpool was cemented as a fan-favorite hero when the first movie dropped. Now, with so much more in store for Deadpool 3, fans are eager to get a hand on his first appearance! We tracked 14 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 118%, with a high sale of $1,475 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a raw NM FMV of $330.
