Hello once again, CHU Nation! 2023 is quickly coming to a close. It hasn’t been the best year spec wise…but to be fair there has been a lot of turmoil in DC and Marvel with respect to their movie franchises. Hopefully 2024 turns a corner! Although prior weeks FOC had a few January releases, 2024 officially starts with this week’s FOC.

Batman #141 (Bat Symbol Zur En Arrh Foil Variant)

Issue #139 had the glitch Bat symbol foil. Issue #140 had the dark knight returns foil. This issue is the Zur En Arrh Foil, and the conclusion to the Mindbomb arc. On deck is the Joker’s origin arc.

 

 

 

Detective Comics #1080 (Cover C – Fiumara Variant)

Just an interesting Bat-Girl cover.

A world of tomorrow where the age of heroes is over, but the future still needs to be avenged! Seems to be like Marvel’s version of the Watchmen. For those interested, there’s this foil variant.

 

Star Wars #42 (Grand Inquisitor Rebels 10th Ann Variant)

Not too many Grand Inquisitor covers. Makes for a sweet Rebels 10th Anniversary variant.

Star Wars #42 (Logo Variant)

Also, starting with issue #42 it looks like Star Wars titles are going with logo variants. This classic logo is actually cool. Would make nice book for signings…

Once again, not sure why this gets the facsimile treatment, but at least there’s a Foil variant.

 

 

You can get the tpb of this arc for a fraction of the cost of these facsimiles, but whatever.

 

Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #1 (Facsimile Edition Foil Variant)

Looks like marvel is going to do facsimiles for the whole 12 issue run. At least they’re offering foils. Wake me up when issue 8 is on FOC!

 

Number Ones

 

General Zod has an entire planet to rule–but he wants more–and he’ll stop at nothing to get it. This is a dark ride…For General Zod and his family, the descent into hell has just begun!

Superman isn’t my favorite read, far from it. But I’ve always been intrigued by Zod since Superman II. Such a great adversary. I’d be more excited about this series if it wasn’t drawn out across 12 issues. I might have to grab the Barends Variant.

There’s also a foil variant to issue #1.
