Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 2/7/24

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

What is up Wednesday Warriors? Kind of an odd week, less books on the week this go around, but some with serious upside. Check out what is on tap.

New Series/#1’s
Suicide Squad Kill Arkham Asylum #1 – DC – Ties in to the video game. Each print issue includes a redeemable code for a bonus digital token in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League inspired by the comic. (Check Mycomicshop.com

Star Wars Mace Windu #1 – Marvel – New solo series for the Jedi Master. First appearance of AZITA CRUUZ, a pirate with a deadly secret. (Check Mycomicshop)

The One Hand #1 – Image – Detective Ari Nasser is about to retire with an enviable record, until a brutal murder occurs, bearing all the hallmarks of the “One Hand Killer”… which should be impossible, since Ari already put him away not once, but twice in the years before. What follows is a deadly cat-and-mouse game as Ari pursues his quarry down the rain-soaked streets of Neo Novena. Ari will stop at nothing to unravel the secrets and ciphers of this case, but each revelation only leads further into the dark heart of his future-metropolis and Ari’s own beleaguered soul.

Thundercats #1 – Dynamite – 80’s nostalgia comics (first appearances of 80’s characters) are way down currently, Dynamite has not had a “hit” comic sell for more on the secondary market, but dang-it, as an 80’s kid who grew up loving the Thundercats, I will be grabbing a copy to read. Tons of covers, its the Dynamite way, so grab the one you like. (Check Mycomicshop)

Wolverine Madripoor Knights #1 – Marvel- Have you noticed that Marvel keeps bringing in classic writers, but not to course correct the current books, but to tell stories set in the past? This is another one with Claremont revisiting Wolverine around the time of Uncanny X-Men #268. (Check Mycomicshop)

Worth Watching
Batman #142 – Joker Year One by Chip Zdarsky kicks off and should be a hell of a read.

Poison Ivy #19 – the one true secret origin of Poison Ivy, as revealed by the viridescent villainess herself.

Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees #3 – Small press darling book, issues #1 and #2 still doing well on eBay. Worth keeping an eye out and seeing how this one does.

Pick of the Week
Ultimate Black Panther #1 – No brainer, this book was hot before release. Prices sitting around $25 on eBay for cover A.
