Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

What is up Wednesday Warriors? Another lighter week, but with some killer books. Check out what is on tap:
New Series/#1’s
Blood And Fire #1 – In 16th Century Japan, after centuries of rule, the central government has lost control, plunging the country into a bloody civil war. As warlords seek power and territory, a lone samurai takes a stand against the chaos. But the price of peace will be blood and fire!
Fire In The Madhouse #1 – Blood Moon – With the apocalypse underway, oligarchs from around the world gather at a secret military base on a remote island to board a titanic-sized submarine to ensure their survival. However, a claustrophobic horror-show ensues as an undetectable deep ocean parasite penetrates their ship and takes over the bodies and minds of the billionaires on board.
First Americans #1 – Critical Entertainment – At the end of the Ice Age 14,000 years ago and on the verge of starvation, a tribe of Paleo-Indians travel across across the Bering Land Bridge from Siberia into North America to hunt an elusive pack of mammoths; but when they fail to hunt down the beasts, the tribe must adapt to their new surroundings before becoming extinct in this new land.
For the Cover
Harley Quinn #40 Lesley Leirix Li Card Stock Cover – I really like Leirix Li’s art and I miss when Harley rocked the old costume (and was a fun character to read).
Spider-Boy #7 Black Costume Cover – Homage to a classic Spider-Man cover.
Notable Reprint
Avengers Annual #10 Facsimile Edition – This one really does have it all: the Avengers, the X-Men, Spider-Woman and the first appearance of Rogue!
One and Done
Death Ratiod #1 – AWA- When Arnold awakes from a coma twenty years into the future, he discovers that society is now ruled by social media. Enough “likes” and “upvotes” can unlock fame and fortune but – watch your step! – enough “thumbs down” clicks and the collar around your neck explodes. And you’re done. Now, confused and running on his last Like, Arnold must navigate a world in which the slightest online misstep can have fatal consequences.
One to Watch
Edge Of Spider-Verse #4 – First appearance of the Spider-verse Movie Jessica Drew.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Grommets #1 – From Rick Remender and Brian Posehn. Two best-friend outcasts navigate the Sacramento suburbs of 1984, where they find a home in skateboard culture and punk rock. On one side of the coin, GROMMETS is an authentic look at 80s skate culture, a snapshot of the generation that turned skating into a worldwide phenomenon. On the other, it’s a heartfelt coming-of-age story that follows two friends from troubled homes as they navigate their damage in an era when no one cared. Nostalgia factor hits har with Gen-X and having grown up in the 80’s punk and skate scene I am looking forward to this.
Pick of the Week
Hellverine #1 – Hellverine is putting together a team of… Hellverines. ALL-NEW HELLFIRE WARRIORS! Interesting to see which pops up. Hellverine was another Marvel mash-up, but caught heat.
