RUNNERS UP
11: Blood Hunt: Red Band Edition #1 – Leinil Francis Yu – Crime SuspenStories #22 Homage (1:25) | Marvel | 2024
This comic kicked off the Red Band horror homage covers for the Blood Hunt series. Two weeks ago, we saw the second issue’s release in the series, and the fan reaction was highly positive. Just like this issue, the second blew up on the aftermarket. The most current cover to chase has reached the top ten, but this book’s sales are still strong. It may have fallen off of the top ten, but not by much! The horror homage covers are a huge hit, and this is evident in the aftermarket sales! We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 7%, with a high sale of $375 for CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $157.
12: Grommets #1 – Jonathan Wayshak (1:20) | Image | 2024
Today’s world seems to be moving at breakneck speeds. It can sometimes be overwhelming to keep up with trends, technology, and society in general. GROMMETS is one of those books that takes you on a time travel trip to simpler times. It is a coming-of-age story, a look back on nostalgia, and a slice-of-life story all wrapped into one. This book stood on its own merits to make it to our runner-up list! Wayshak hits a home run with the retailer variant, and collectors cannot get enough. We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $30 for NM raw copy and a current NM raw FMV at $28.
13: The New Mutants #98 – Inhyuk Lee – 2024 Facsimile (1:25) | Marvel | 2024
This cover dropped several spots on our list this week. However, it is still a trending book! Lee’s artwork on the legendary merc-with-a-mouth is still a phenomenal piece of art. Moreover, it is a unique cover of a reprinted book. Add in the fact that this book is a retailer incentive, and it becomes much more desirable! We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 9%, with a high sale of $140 for CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $48.
14: Spawn #1 | Image | 1992
Spawn returns to our lists! As a frequent visitor of our top ten and runner-ups, Spawn is once again a hot seller. This key issue is one of the most popular among collectors, and it has a relatively low buy-in. Every few weeks, we see a SPAWN #1 start trending! We tracked 35 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 14%, with a high sale of $140 for CGC 9.8 copies and a current NM raw FMV at $20.
15: Wolverine #1 | Marvel | 1982
We are about seven weeks out from the debut of one of the MCUs’ most anticipated films. After a recurring set of lackluster movies, Kevin Feige decided to slow down movie production. Deadpool & Wolverine is the only film that MCU fans will receive this year. Deadpool and Wolverine comics have started to trend once again. This particular issue is the first Wolverine solo title and the first Yukio cameo. Attainable keys such as this are bound to continue trending through the film’s release. We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 13%, with a high sale of $630 for CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $133.
16: Secret Wars #5 – Alex Ross – Regular | Marvel | 2015
This is such an interesting book to see back on our lists. For collectors who may not know, this book is trending due to the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer. In the trailer, Deadpool is lying in the desert after being attacked by Wolverine. To the right of him is a comic book that keen-eyed fans identified as this issue. However, there hasn’t been any other news about why this comic was featured. However, as we get closer to the release date of this film, hopefully, some more details will come to light. We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 54%, with a high sale of $125 for CGC 9.8 and a current NM raw FMV at $17. Note that the current FMV for a 9.8 is at $52. This week had a short spurt of high sales that settled back down pretty quickly.
17: Criminal #1 | Marvel | 2006
Fans of Ed Brubaker will be happy to know that the movie is still moving forward! Amazon Prime has picked up CRIMINAL and will bring this show to life as a series. Last week, the main lead was cast when they brought Charlie Hunnam on board to play Leo. This production is moving full steam ahead, and fans are trying to nab the first issue. We tracked six copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 32%, with a high sale of $80 for CGC 8.5 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $19.
18: X-Men #24 | Marvel | 1993
Two weeks ago, we saw the release of the second print of X-MEN ‘97 #2, which featured a beautiful homage to the Disney+ series and this original cover. The X-Men ‘97 series was a huge success and propelled Gambit and Rogue’s relationship into a wider spotlight. New and old fans alike were busy hunting down this iconic cover! We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of + 39%, with a high sale of $25 for NM raw copy and a current NM raw FMV at $21.
19: Doom #1 – Maria Wolf (1:25) | Marvel | 2024
Marvel’s released Doom to a massively positive reception. The book itself was a great read, and the artwork was phenomenal. In the following weeks, we learned that Marvel was paying tribute to a rapper who had tragically passed away. The first page/text are direct lines from one of his tracks. In addition to this rarity, the book is also a retailer variant… making it even harder to track down! We tracked ten copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 33%, with a high sale of $70 for NM raw copy and a current NM raw FMV at $58.
20: X-Men #1 – Cover D – Magneto Direct | Marvel | 1991
All kinds of X-Men books have been currently spiking in value. It could be theorized that the X-Men ‘97 animated series put mutants back on the map! One of the highlights of the series was watching Magneto struggle with his predecessor’s philosophy on peace between humans and mutants. Aside from this book being a powerful cover for the mutant, it is also the first appearance of the X-Men Blue Team! We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 33%, with a high sale of $154 for CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $8.
