RUNNERS UP
11: DEADPOOL #1 – Benjamin Su – 2024 Facsimile (1:25) | Marvel | July 2024
It’s no coincidence that a Deadpool facsimile is released so close to the Deadpool & Wolverine debut. This facsimile is Deadpool’s first solo series, and the original cover received a reprint, along with a foil edition. However, the 1:25 variant cover is the only book to make it to our top lists this week. It is a great Deadpool cover by Benjamin Su, immortalizing the mercenary as an unstoppable force. Deadpool may be riddled with arrows, but he shows no signs of slowing down. This cover is a hot variant released last week! We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 38%, with a high sale of $50 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $35.

12: GROMMETS #2 – Alex Riegel (1:10) | Image | June 2024
Grommets is still turning heads this past week! The nostalgic storyline has captivated the interests of many comic book fans. The slice-of-life storyline has been referred to as a time capsule to a simpler world. Fans of this series have been chasing the ratio covers to add to their collection. This book was trending nearly as hot as the first issue release. We look forward to more from this series! We tracked eight copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 1%, with a high sale of $37 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $25. It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news on Lobo. This past week, rumors started floating around about the new DCEU movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Apparently, casting has begun, and Jason Momoa is back at the top of the grapevine. Speculation is that he is currently in talks about taking on the role of Lobo in the Supergirl film. It is extremely early, and this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. However, if this casting were true, it would be the perfect answer to one of the most popular fan castings to exist in the DCEU! We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 27%, with a high sale of $350 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $71.

13: THE OMEGA MEN #3 | DC | February 1983
It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news on Lobo. This past week, rumors started floating around about the new DCEU movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Apparently, casting has begun, and Jason Momoa is back at the top of the grapevine. Speculation is that he is currently in talks about taking on the role of Lobo in the Supergirl film. 14: WOLVERINE #1 | Marvel | November 1988
We’re less than two weeks away from Deadpool & Wolverine hitting theaters! The duo’s books are reaching peak popularity as fans chase down key issues from the two characters. This past week, a rumor was being spread that SDCC had a special announcement about the pair. This rumor has no support as of yet. However, the rumor mentions that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are set to announce their return to the MCU in Secret Wars at SDCC. If this were true, expect these books to continue to trend upward! We tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 16%, with a high sale of $300 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $64.

15: SPAWN #1 – Todd McFarlane – Regular | Image | May 1992
SDCC is just around the corner, and proactive fans are trying to pick up books before any news propels their value. For those who kept an eye out on the schedule, they have learned that Todd McFarlane is set to appear. More importantly, McFarlane is hosting a panel titled “McFarlane Talks Spawn Movie, Comics, and More!”. SDCC has historically been the platform for huge announcements about future media projects. Is McFarlane going to make any announcement on the film we’ve been waiting for? Who knows. Until then, grab one of the most popular debut issues in comic history! We tracked 30 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 9%, with a high sale of $140 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $36.

16: WATCHMEN #1 | DC | May 1986
Fans of Watchmen have been waiting for content since the 2009 film debut. This past week, we saw the first trailer release of the Watchmen: Chapter 1 animated series. The trailer was positively received, and the red band trailer received 5x the views. The series is set to debut on August 13, and fans are chasing the book from where it all began. The book is not a particularly difficult find, which makes for a fun grab ahead of the show’s premiere. We tracked ten copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 7%, with a high sale of $165 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $32.

17: ACTION COMICS #1066 – Mark Spears (1:25) | DC | June 2024
Amidst the rumors of Lobo appearing in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, there was no doubt this book saw an upward trend. First of all, it is a fantastic cover of the infamous intergalactic bounty hunter by Mark Spears. It is also a retailer incentive (1:25), which makes it harder to find. Lobo is a fan favorite, regardless of his appearance in cinema, and this is a gem to add to any fan’s collection. We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 2%, with a high sale of $85 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $47.

18: KILL ALL IMMORTALS #1 – Rafael Albuquerque (1:10) | Dark Horse | July 2024
“Succession meets John Wick… with immortal Vikings.” This is the description that Dark Horse provides for the first issue of this series. It creates a lot of hype, and upon release, the book definitely lived up to it! It is exactly what it advertises: brutal and bloody violence in a battle for freedom. This story has already created tons of fans, and those fans are chasing the retailer’s incentive cover. It is by prominent artist Rafael Albuquerque and is an affordable collectible to chase. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 18%, with a high sale of $16 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $14.

19: BLOOD HUNT: RED BAND EDITION #4 – Betsy Cola – Tales From the Crypt #28 Homage (1:25) | Marvel | June 2024
By now, we’ve seen plenty of the Blood Hunt: Red Band retailer incentives make it to the top lists, usually as soon as they debut. This book is no exception. While the trend isn’t as strong as its predecessors, it still shot up in value shortly after its release. This book is also less “red band” than previous covers, showing less blood and gore. If you’re a completionist, you’re still going to want to pick up this cover! We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 13%, with a high sale of $72 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $59.

20: AIN’T NO GRAVE #3 – Skottie Young (1:25) | Image | July 2024
AIN’T NO GRAVE released with no particularly large impact. The first issue received some mixed reviews but nothing mind-blowing. The second issue was more positively received, and it began to catch the eyes of many comic book fans. It makes sense that the 3rd issue of the series was one of the most popular releases. This is especially true for the retailer incentive (1:25), which features one of today’s most popular cover artists, Skottie Young. As this issue picks up steam, we will likely see fans chasing previous retailer incentives, which also feature Young as the cover artist. We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 29%, with a high sale of $63 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $31.
