RUNNERS UP
11: CAPTAIN AMERICA #25 | MARVEL | OCTOBER 2014
This is the book where Sam Wilson officially takes the title of Captain America. Recently, we finally got a trailer for his first box office outing with the moniker Captain America: Brave New World. We got a sneak peek at what that may look like in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but he’s the real deal this time. Fans have shown excitement on the aftermarket, picking up this book quickly before any more trailers are released. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 11%, with a high sale of $110 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $28.
12: AIN’T NO GRAVE #3 – Skottie Young (1:25) | IMAGE | JULY 2024
Skottie Young has a massive fanbase that thoroughly enjoys his art style. That was on full display with this 1:25 variant from none other than Skottie Young. Considering it was the only variant for this issue, from the writer of the series, it’s not surprising to see it climbing up the charts! We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 11%, with a high sale of $47 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $37.
13: STAR WARS Vol.1 #1 | MARVEL | APRIL 1977
While the conversation around the Acolyte has been all over the place, at least the community is talking about Star Wars. Some fans opted to revisit a more positively reviewed period for the iconic IP, securing copies of the first appearances of the series’ most iconic characters like Luke, Leia, and, of course, our boy Darth Vader. While the Acolyte hasn’t seen the most positive reception, it is causing fans to focus on a certain aspect of the Dark Side that could have massive ramifications for the series, both past and present. Regardless, this will always be a key and coveted book, with some moving to acquire a copy sooner rather than later. We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 40%, with a high sale of $4,299 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current VF raw FMV at $158.
14: ALL-NEW WOLVERINE #1 – Bengal – Regular | MARVEL | NOVEMBER 2015
Welcome back, Daphne Keen! We got the briefest of moments with her in the final Deadpool and Wolverine trailer, but she made good use of her time and turned up the waterworks. Fans begged her to return as X-23, especially in classic Wolverine attire. We didn’t get that in Logan, but the community has strong suspicions that we won’t have to wait long. Snagging a copy of X-23’s first appearance as Wolverine in the classic threads was an easy choice for some! We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 6%, with a high sale of $99 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $22.
15: WITCHBLADE #1 – J. Scott Campbell (1:50) | IMAGE | JULY 2024
While Witchblade isn’t necessarily a household name, a large fanbase exists. One of which was supremely exciting to see in this book was the series’ reboot. Of course, attach an artist like J. Scott Campbell to a variant cover, and fans will take a peak. He has a massive fanbase of his own, with a robust aftermarket to match. Of all the variants released, at least for now, this variant is the cream of the crop. We tracked 12 copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of +4%, with a high sale of $100 for an NM copy and a current NM raw FMV at $73.
16: SPAWN #1 – Todd McFarlane – Regular | IMAGE | MAY 1992
It’s our boy, SPAWN! Back again on our lists, but this time, with a little more news behind him. The long-awaited Spawn reboot is still in the works, but it recently received its title, “King Spawn.” Fans have no idea if that means there will be an adaptation of the King Spawn run or if it’s simply a title. Still, it doesn’t hurt to be prepared and pick up a copy of this cheap and plentiful key, although it’s steadily been rising in value over the years. We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3%, with a high sale of $156 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw FMV at $30.
17: WATCHMEN #1 | DC | MAY 1986
As mentioned before, we have the live-action film and HBO series, but now Watchmen is receiving the animated treatment. DC does a lot right, especially within its animation division. Fans are hopeful they will do the series justice when the animated film releases in August. That’s got a lot of fans excited, enough to take a look at the book that started it all and help redefine a genre. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3%, with a high sale of $723 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current VF raw FMV at $40.
18: FANTASTIC FOUR Vol.1 #94 | MARVEL | JANUARY 1970
When WandaVision was released, this book was super hot, thanks to a whole new generation of fans being introduced to Agatha Harkness. She has a storied history that closely intertwines with the Fantastic Four and one Franklin Richards. Now that the community finally got a trailer for Agatha All Along, fans felt it was time to revisit her first appearance and secure a copy before the show drops in the fall. Despite the series trailer and announcement being buried beneath the Deadpool and Wolverine deluge, there is growing excitement. But, if Marvel does it right, we could see an explosion in Agatha’s love and market influence. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 2%, with a high sale of $375 for a CGC 9.0 copy and a current VF raw FMV at $135.
19: GIANT-SIZE X-MEN Vol.1 #1 | MARVEL | FEBRUARY 1975
This book marks the first appearance of the new X-Men squad, along with several characters with massive fanbases. It’s a holy grail for many collectors, for good reason. It is also the first mention of Krakoa, the hinge point for multiple X-Men stories 50 years later. On top of all that, Kevin Feigie has publicly stated that Deadpool and Wolverine will be the introduction of the X-Men into the MCU. This is a huge moment in pop culture history, as fans have been begging for them to arrive since 2008. Which team, who occupies it, and what iteration of said character is anyone’s guess. But fans strongly feel it will be this team right here. We’ll just have to wait another week to find out. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1%, with a high sale of $10,500 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current VG raw FMV at $1,372.
20: CAPTAIN AMERICA Vol.1 #117 | MARVEL | SEPTEMBER 1969
This book marks the first appearance of The Falcon, Sam Wilson. We’ve seen the Falcon in the MCU for years. We know he’s shed the feathers to move on up to the stars and stripes. But who will take up the mantle? Ultimately, that’s who first debuted in this book, the mantle of the Falcon. Marvel has laid the groundwork for Joaquin Torres to take on the mantle from here on out. It’s assumed he will do so, and the Falcon will live on. How much of a part the Falcon will play in the future is up for debate, but fans are excited nonetheless. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1%, with a high sale of $156 for a VG copy and a current VG raw FMV at $131.
