RUNNERS UP

11: WHAT IF? IRON MAN: DEMON IN AN ARMOR #1 | MARVEL | DECEMBER 2010
Last week, this book was number 5 on our Top 10 list. This week, tons of D23 news has pushed this book down! The rumors surrounding RDJ’s casting have a little less fuel over the confirmed projects coming out of the convention. This book is one of the prominent fan theories out there where Doctor Doom and Tony Stark switch minds. It is one of many theories about how the RDJ casting will play out, but it is one of the favorites. This book continues to generate tons of interest on the aftermarket. We tracked 20 copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 1%, with a high sale of $204 for an NM copy and a current NM raw of $96.

12: THE POWER FANTASY #1 – TULA LOTAY (1:100) | IMAGE | AUGUST 2024
Here’s a great addition to the Runner-Ups. This book debuted last week, and it was an instant hit. It has gotten widely positive reviews for both the story and artwork. There is no current news about any adaptations and this book doesn’t need it. In fact, it was such a hit that the book has sold out and has already gone back for a second printing. It makes sense that the popularity has caused the highest retailer incentive to start trending. It is fantastic cover art and will continue to get increasingly rare as they are sold into a forever home and less appear on the aftermarket. We tracked six copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $150 for an NM copy and a current NM raw of $137.

13: BLOOD HUNT #5 – KAEL NGU (1:25) | MARVEL | JULY 2024
This marks one of the first Blood Hunt retailer incentive books to outsell their Redband counterpart. Who better to accomplish this than Dr. Doom and legendary modern-day artist Kael Ngu? This book is a phenomenal cover featuring the highly anticipated Dr. Doom. We’re likely to see more trending Dr. Doom covers as both the MCU and the comic universe are featuring him heavily. We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 11%, with a high sale of $46 for an NM copy and a current NM raw of $45.

14: DAREDEVIL #14 | MARVEL | DECEMBER 2016
D23 announced many projects, and one of the greatest reveals was the first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again. The trailer leaked online, and fans went hunting for related keys! One key scene in the trailer was the confirmation of the series villain, The Muse. This book is the first cover appearance of Muse. The stills and trailer reveal that the live-action costume is fairly comic-accurate. Fans are hyped for the series, and Muse is a part of that hype! We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 8%, with a high sale of $59 for a CGC 9.4 copy and a current NM raw of $31.

15: THE UNCANNY X-MEN VOL.1 #266 | MARVEL | AUGUST 1990
Channing Tatum’s appearance as Gambit was met with positive reception from fans. The long-awaited casting was a monumental moment for the character. While Deadpool & Wolverine seemed to have given the character a finite ending, this week brings new hope for the character. In an interview with ScreenRant, Channing Tatum mentioned that he was in talks with Kevin about further involvement in the MCU. The answer was very cryptic, sounding hopeful for a reprisal as Gambit but also mentioning he would be happy to play another character entirely. This news has caused fans to get back on collecting Gambit keys, including this second appearance and first cover appearance of the mutant! We tracked 29 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1%, with a high sale of $260 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current NM raw of $143.

16: AIN’T NO GRAVE #4 – SKOTTIE YOUNG (1:25) | IMAGE | AUGUST 2024
Ain’t No Grave has been a sleeper hit in modern comics. It has not made many top lists due to the overshadowing of recent comic announcements, which are causing other books to spike. However, fans of Skottie Young have been closely following this series for the macabre western/fantasy storytelling for mature audiences. This retailer incentive was an instant hit when it debuted last week. It quickly hit the aftermarkets when it began to trend. We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 19%, with a high sale of $46 for an NM copy and a current NM raw of $31.

17: MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS VOL.1 #8 – DIRECT | MARVEL | DECEMBER 1984
Another rumor has surfaced, bringing this book back to the top of the speculator list. According to an “insider,” Marvel Studios is finalizing a director for the Spider-Man 4 film. The rumor goes on to state that the film is going to include the symbiote left behind in No Way Home. It claims that Venom: The Last Dance is a misdirection. This is all a lot of hearsay at the moment, but it’s taken a lot less to propel the sales of key issues! We tracked 45 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 28%, with a high sale of $430 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current VF raw of $152.

18: DAREDEVIL VOL.1 #183 – DIRECT | MARVEL | JUNE 1982
This book was already a top-seller for Daredevil collectors. It features a great cover by Frank Miller, showing the two heroes doing battle. This book features an anti-drug story that was delayed by the Comics Code Authority, originally set to debut in issue #167. Additionally, it is the first battle between Daredevil and Punisher. The hype on this book comes from the D23 reveal of the Daredevil: Born Again trailer. The trailer confirms Jon Bernthal’s return as Punisher! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 67%, with a high sale of $183 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current VF raw of $21.

19: STAR WARS VOL.1 #1 | MARVEL | APRIL 1977
A lot of news was released on D23 this past weekend. Marvel and Pixar took to the stage, but Star Wars didn’t hold back either. The Mandalorian and Grogu film was announced for 2026. Fortnite collaborations were also part of that announcement, featuring skins from the show. A trailer for The Skeleton Crew was shown, and updates were given for the second season of Andor, which confirmed the return of Orson Krennic and K-2SO. Let’s not forget an alternate universe of the Star Wars mythos was announced in the form of the animated film LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. Needless to say, we see why fans are chasing this book again! We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 38%, with a high sale of $910 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current VF raw of $209.

20: GAMBIT VOL.1 #1 | MARVEL | DECEMBER 1993
Woo, Gambit made a name for himself here. Channing Tatum brought the beloved character to life, and it was very well-received. Tatum mentioned in an interview with ScreenRant that he is in talks with Kevin Feige about further involvement in the MCU. However, he did not specifically say he would be reprising his role as Gambit. We’ll see what the future holds, but for now, this first solo series is heating up in the aftermarket. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 26%, with a high sale of $120 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current NM raw of $12.
