RUNNERS UP

11: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN VOL.1 #194 | MARVEL | JULY 1979
Black Cat has been a fan-favorite character to be cast in the next Spider-Man film. Early last year, a fan cast of Sydney Sweeney as the femme fatale began circulating. It mostly went unbeknownst to most, but it looks like that has circled back again. This past week, a rumor started floating around that the MCU was looking at Sweeney for the role of Black Cat. The rumor does come from a reputable leaker, giving it more credence online. To add to the rumor, bosslogic released an artist rendering of Sweeney in the Black Cat outfit. All this has caused a spike in interest in Black Cat’s first appearance! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 11%, with a high sale of $1,000 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current NM raw of $138.

12: THE NEW MUTANTS VOL.1 #98 – ROB LIEFELD – REGULAR | MARVEL | FEBRUARY 1991
Deadpool sales are still going strong! The aftermarket is still feeling all the positive waves from Deadpool and Wolverine’s massive success. The film has broken box office records as the #1 highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. As fans continue to rave about the film, the aftermarket continues to boom with first-appearance sales. We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3%, with a high sale of $1,159 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw of $320.

13: DAREDEVIL #11 – RON GARNEY – REGULAR | MARVEL | SEPTEMBER 2016
Since the announcement of Daredevil: Born Again, rumors have circulated about the villain set to take on the man without fear. The most prominent rumor was about the villain, Muse. Over the D23 weekend, the Daredevil trailer was shown to a lucky audience. One of those audience members leaked the footage, which clearly showed a clip of Muse. This rumor confirmation caused a number of Muse books to start flying on the aftermarket! We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 14%, with a high sale of $139 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current NM raw of $63.

14: THE UNCANNY X-MEN VOL.1 #266 | MARVEL | AUGUST 1990
Speaking of Deadpool & Wolverine’s massive success, this is another book that has been boosted thanks to that movie. In the film, Channing Tatum brought the ragin’ cajun to life, to many fans’ delight! Since the highly positive reception, Tatum has spoken out in an interview about having conversations with Marvel. Although Tatum didn’t directly reference the Gambit role, fans still hope there is more story to tell with the character in future MCU installments! *UPDATE* Of course, right before we decided to publish this, Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, dropped this gem of a video. While they are calling it a “deleted scene,” this is actually the video we see playing in the TVA while Deadpool shows the audience that he really was quoting Johnny Storm. So Gambit is alive in the MCU! We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3%, with a high sale of $619 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw of $139.

15: DAREDEVIL VOL.1 #183 – DIRECT | MARVEL | JUNE 1982
The leaked Daredevil: Born Again trailer confirmed many rumors. It was the first piece of media that fans got to go through with a fine toothcomb. In the trailer, we see Jon Bernthal’s Punisher return to the screen! We had previously seen some set photos in mid-April, but this is the first official footage released, and it has built up hype! Fans are ready to see the Punisher and Daredevil go toe-to-toe, just like in this iconic cover! We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 58%, with a high sale of $188 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw of $15.

16: THE X-MEN VOL.1 #137 | MARVEL | SEPTEMBER 1980
John Byrne is one of the most iconic X-Men artists. His work with Claremont produced classic favorites like the Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past. The X-Men have been a highly desired property to see translated to the big screen. The MCU has been teasing the X-Men more heavily in Phase 4, leading fans to believe that the mutant team is just around the corner. In the meantime, we have X-Men ‘97 and the newly launched PHOENIX comic series. This book’s iconic cover is enough to be a highly desired book. However, it is also a controversial issue, as Jean Grey takes her own life to stop The Phoenix. If there is one thing collectors love, it is collecting controversial comic books! We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 46%, with a high sale of $68 for a CGC 9.0 copy and a current NM raw of $44.

17: THE POWER FANTASY #1 – CASPAR WIJNGAARD – CHASE | IMAGE | AUGUST 2024
Two weeks ago, fans were chasing the 1:100 variant of this book. The debut of this series was positively received, and the reviews were stellar. As collectors chased down the highest ratio cover, comic readers are still picking up the first issue cover A. Even with all the hype around this book, cover A is still a relatively easy and affordable book to find for those who want to start reading this series. We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 44%, with a high sale of $20 for an NM copy and a current NM raw of $10.

18: GAMBIT VOL.1 #1 | MARVEL | DECEMBER 1993
While the first cover appearance of Gambit may be out of reach for some fans, this book is an easier find! This is a great starting point if you want to start collecting Gambit keys. It also is an awesome foil cover. Until we get more news on the character, fans are chasing down these keys! We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 68%, with a high sale of $60 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current NM raw of $17.

19: AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #252 – NEWSSTAND | MARVEL | MAY 1984
If you’ve collected enough SECRET WARS #8, here is another black-suit Spider-Man book to chase! This book is actually the first appearance of the black costume, predating other popular keys by nearly two weeks. It is also a great homage to AMAZING FANTASY #15, the book that started it all. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 17%, with a high sale of $1,695 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw of $158. Werewolf by Night’s bloody rampage continues this week! Fans are chasing the red band high ratio cover. This book is not only a great addition to the Red Band cover collection, but it also debuts a new villainess. A cult is shown meeting in a secret location in Transylvania, known as the Darkholders. This group is led by a woman in a skull helmet addressed as Elder Drogana. A few more villains infiltrate the meeting and look to team up with the Elder in their bloody conquest. It is a fun tease of future chaos to come. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 21%, with a high sale of $84 for an NM copy and a current NM raw of $69.
