RUNNERS UP

11 Pilot Season Declassified 2011 #1
Since The Beauty received casting/adaptation news, fans have been searching high and low to secure the key books in the series. Some may be confused with the other entry on our list, but this book is the ‘real’ first appearance of the Beauty. Debuting a month before Pilot Season: The Beauty, this book holds the top spot on our Runner-Up list and could see a rise as more fans notice where it landed on the release schedule. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 36%, with a high sale of $20 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $20.

12 Masters Of The Universe #1
While He-Man did appear in ‘comics’ before this issue, they were mini-comics that were packaged with action figures so that kids could learn more about the backstory. This comic book is the first to be created outside of the action figures mini-comics and to establish the He-Man continuity. Fans are returning to the title thanks to the recent casting announcements for the live-action He-Man project. But, part of that may be the attention the She-Ra live-action project is receiving, as Amazon/MGM recently announced that Heidi Shreck will be helming the live-action series. They are two different projects under the same IP banner, but She-Ra does not appear in this issue. Still, it’s all good for the He-Man fans, as they’re bound to get some good live-action content at some point! We tracked nine copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 126% with a high sale of $261 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current VF raw price of $21. (Editor’s Note: She-Ra/Adora would not appear in the cartoon until the “Secret of the Sword” movie and in a mini-comic “The Story of She-Ra,” which was issued with the She-Ra action figure)

13 Fantastic Four Vol.1 #94
Agatha All Along is finally here, snaring those who tune in with its mysteries. But ole, humble Agatha got her start right here in this book. First appearing as Franklin Richards’s nanny, Agatha Harkness was developed over the years until now, when she has her Disney+ series. Enough fans are tuning in, thinking it’s worth securing her first appearance. We tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 5%, with a high sale of $345 for a CGC 9.2 copy and a current FN raw price of $59.

14 The Joker Vol.1 #1
Joker: Folie a Deux finally made its way to theatres and is promptly bombing. Unfortunately, audiences know what they want, and this film was collectively not it. Still, it got Joker on the brain, and considering his first appearance is miles away from affordability for most collectors, some opt to look at this one. It’s his first solo series and the first title with a villain as the centerpiece. It also followed up a four-year disappearance from comics AND the opportunity to lean into his more homicidal roots after being white-washed by DC to appear more marketable toward children. It’s an under-the-radar key most fans don’t think about, but some are starting to. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 153%, with a high sale of $450 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current VF raw price of $76.

15 The New Mutants Vol.1 #98 – Rob Liefeld – Regular
Deadpool has been in the headlines A LOT over the past year. We all know why. But, being Rob Liefeld’s most notable work often brings the creator up in discussion, spotlighting his current work. He recently hit headlines thanks to his contribution toward the Whatnot blind bags. However, he’s getting more love for his return to the Youngblood title. Still, Deadpool will always be in style as his fandom steadily grows, and there will always be those looking to secure his first appearance! We tracked 20 copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 12%, with a high sale of $1,028 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $353.

16 Voltron Vol.1 #1
Oh yeah! The live-action Voltron project has reportedly found its lead in Daniel Quinn-Toye. That has fans excited about the return of a beloved childhood IP. Coincidentally, numerous fans are eager to secure the first appearance of Voltron in US comics. With the announcement, we saw an uptick in sales and could expect more as announcements continue to trickle out regarding the project. We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 13%, with a high sale of $280 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current VF raw price of $29.

17 Deadpool #7 – Peach Momoko – Virgin (1:100)
We got the debut of Ellie Cammacho as Deadpool out of the way with the last issue, and now her story may commence. Fans have been eager for her to debut and are sticking around to watch her story play out. She has some excellent variants for this issue, but this virgin Peach Momoko 1:100 variant is taking the top spot. Momoko has a MASSIVE fanbase who will secure anything she puts out. Combine her talents with a notable character like Ellie/Deadpool, and you’ll typically see some aftermarket movement! We tracked 11 copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 2%, with a high sale of $160 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $130.

18 The Sentry Vol.1 #1
Well, we got a peak at Bob, but where’s the Sentry?! First appearing in this book, Marvel delivered an amazing character who is utterly broken. The power of a million exploding suns, but a broken mind? Sign the fanbase up. He’s been rumored to appear in the MCU for years, and we still don’t know if we’ll see a full suit-up. But, the appearance of Bob Reynolds, the civilian identity of Sentry, in the recent Thunderbolts* trailer sure got some people looking to secure a copy of his first appearance. That trend began in earnest last week, but we see a quiet-down period in week two. We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 2%, with a high sale of $339 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $96.

19 Spawn #1 – Todd McFarlane – Regular
The aftermarket KING is here! Spawn is the reigning champ and one of those books that pop on this list willy-nilly. It’s constantly trading hands, with its FMV steadily rising year over year. No news to report, just a rockin’ aftermarket book. We tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 27%, with a high sale of $108 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $19.

20 Venom #3 – Ryan Stegman – Regular
This is the last stalwart book about Knull, symbiotes, or Venom to make our lists after weeks of domination. The Venom: The Last Dance trailer gave the audience a glimpse at Knull, and all bets were off. It was a blindside to the industry, and the aftermarket responded in kind as fans tried to acquire his first appearance. Demand ebbed and flowed until other IPs stole attention away again. But there are those still seeking his first appearance before the film drops. We tracked 23 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 5% with a high sale of $270 for a CGC 9.8 copy, and a current NM raw price of $139.
