RUNNERS UP

11 Fantastic Four #13 – Greg Land – 2024 NYCC – Next Big Thing Panel
This is one of the many books featured from the recent New York Comic Con. This book was given away during Marvel’s “Next Big Thing” panel. During this panel, Marvel highlighted future series like ULTIMATE WOLVERINE and POWER MAN TIMELESS, set to debut in 2025. One of the bigger announcements was that of a series titled THE RISE OF EMPEROR DOOM, emphasizing that Marvel has big plans for Dr. Doom, even outside the MCU. The panel attendees were treated to this book as a showcase to Emperor Doom. It started blazing an upward trend as soon as it hit the aftermarket! We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $70 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $46.

12 Storm #1 – 2024 NYCC – Magic The Gathering Edition
As noted, this Magic The Gathering was a surprise giveaway hit from the Magic The Gathering panel at NYCC! Not many anticipated a hard-to-find Wolverine and Storm variant dropping out of the panel, instantly rewarding those attendees with one of the more exclusive variants of the convention. The included promo card with this Storm pack features a counter spell featuring Dr. Strange. We tracked six copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $140 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $133.

13 Daredevil #14 – John Tyler Christopher – 2024 NYCC – Radar
With Daredevil’s series receiving a ton of hype, Daredevil covers are a top collectible item nowadays! Even more so, a cover by a hugely popular artist, like JTC, is sure to be a big hit at any comic con. This exclusive was available for purchase at NYCC, and it immediately hit the aftermarket. Allocated copies were sold out instantly every morning of the convention. It is a unique cover featuring Daredevil’s most prominent power, his radar sense. Per JTC, expect to see future Marvel characters featured with this style of “can you feel it” art. We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 100% with a high sale of $80 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $73.

14 Daredevil #14 – David Mack – 2024 NYCC – Marvel Fanfare Panel
As attendees waited to hear all about comic books, two very special surprise guests crashed the Marvel Fanfare Panel: Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox! Their guest appearances were kept top secret as the panel description simply stated, “Join very special surprise guests in a conversation without fear!” That wasn’t the only surprise; the duo confirmed that the show would be 17 and up, will have nine episodes, and will officially feature The Muse, Bullseye, and the Punisher, debuting on March 4th. You think that would be enough! However, attendees also received a special promo book. This polybagged comic featuring Muse’s 2nd appearance is replaced with David Mack’s amazing artwork celebrating the BORN AGAIN show. Considering no one knew what secrets this panel would hold, who knows how many of these covers were distributed?! We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $90 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $75.

15 Absolute Wonder Woman / Absolute Superman Ashcan Flip Book #1 – Hayden Sherman & Rafa Sandoval – 2024 NYCC
If you’ve got FOMO because of all the books given out at NYCC, this one won’t help. The Absolute Universe is kicking off in DC, and ABSOLUTE BATMAN showed us just how popular this new series will be. Now fans can get a taste of what’s to come with the ashcan of Superman and Wonder Woman, in a nostalgic flipbook format handed out at the Lunar retailer dinner the Wednesday of NYCC. The Absolute Universe is set to take the DC fandom by storm! We tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $50 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $45.

16 Absolute Batman #2 – Nick Dragotta – 2024 NYCC – Ashcan
Speaking of the popularity of Absolute Batman, here is the second issue ashcan that was also handed out at the dinner (man, that was one good event to attend)! No spoilers have been leaked for this book, so it is tough to say whether it is a key book or not. Even without key status, this ashcan took off on the aftermarket once NYCC retailers and fans got home (or to their hotel) and posted these books online. We tracked 29 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $55 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $33.

17 Absolute Batman #1 – Philip Tan – 2024 NYCC – The Comic Mint / KRS Comics – Detective Comics #27 Homage – B&Amp;W Inks (Limited 85)
ABSOLUTE BATMAN #1 was a powerhouse of a comic when it was released. It took over the entirety of our Top Ten list with all of its trending sales and variants. It makes perfect sense that a highly exclusive cover at a nationally-hyped convention would sell very well. Not to mention the stellar artwork by Philip Tan. This book was distributed for “free” through online pre-sales and at The Comic Mint or KRS Comics booth at NYCC. “Free” is in quotations because it was a free gift… with a purchase of $750 or more. More unique to this book is that it comes with a foil certificate, verifying that this book was part of the limited 85 copies. For the hottest book of the month and an ultra-low print run, we’re surprised that this wasn’t the book of the convention. Still, we tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 112%, with a high sale of $500 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $453.

18 Lilith #1 – Sean Gordon Murphy – 2024 NYCC (Limited 300)
J. Scott Campbell released the first homage to the Théophile Steinlen’s famous 1896 French poster, Le Chat Noir, with BLACK CAT #1. Another homage to the famous black cat debuted at 2024 NYCC in the form of LILITH #1. The book was limited to 300 copies and available to attendees at the Vault Comics booth (for a mere $15). At the booth, fans were able to get this cover signed by Corin Howell and Sean Murphy. We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100% with a high sale of $99 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $93.

19 Spawn #1 – Todd McFarlane – Big Time Collectibles – Mocca Art Mexican Foil Reprint (Limited 1000)
Spawn was a big hit this past NYCC (though, when isn’t he)! This Big Time Collectibles exclusive was another #1 to add to your collection. It is a reprinted cover from the Spawn 3D cover that came out in 2006. This marks the first time this cover was printed in a virgin format. It’s also foil! The print run was 1000, but not all were sold at NYCC, as the book had pre-sales on Big Time Collectibles’ website starting on Oct. 9th. Now that everyone’s got a copy, it’s time to see where this goes on the aftermarket! We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of -100%, with a high sale of $99 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $88.

20 Ghost Rider: Robbie Reyes Special #1 – Gerardo Sandoval
Here’s another great NYCC excl… wait. No. This book was released 3 weeks ago, and fans are still chasing it down! Some of the books of weeks past were still the runner-ups to this list of runners-ups, as Mark Spears’s Monsters Bride cover just missing the list at 21. Yet, even all the NYCC exclusives couldn’t bump this key issue off of our Top Ten and Runner Ups! Sales might have slowed down after its initial release, but fans are clearly on board for Fantasma’s first full appearance. It has been trending on the aftermarket ever since its release. NYCC hype will likely continue through to next week. Will this book still have enough steam to stay on our lists? Will it reclaim higher spots after the NYCC rush dies down? Stay tuned as we continue to track the hottest addition to Robbie Reyes’s mythos! We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of + 34%, with a high sale of $20 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $16.
