RUNNERS UP
11 Ultimate Spider-Man #1 – Marco Checchetto – Regular
The resurgence of the Ultimate Universe was a huge event throughout 2024. We’re going two months into 2025, and it is still a trending book! While this book might have fallen off the top lists a couple of times, it reigned as a top contender for the majority of 2024. This past weekend, Marvel announced the series: ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN: INCURSION. It looks like this book series will be the beginning of the collision of universes. Marvel has teased a huge summer event, and many speculate that this will be the beginning of that summer event. It all started with this issue, so fans are likely trying to secure a copy before the event launches! We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 22%, with a high sale of $185 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $90.
12 Zatanna #1 – Derrick Chew – DC Showcase Foil (Limited 2500)
Zatanna is a DC bombshell who tends to make a big entrance with new covers. This past week, the first issue of her newest series debuted. In that issue, we saw the debut of a new character, Lady White. This key status isn’t the reason this book is trending. This specific cover is trending because Derrick Chew illustrated a spectacular cover of the magician. Not only is it a fantastic cover, it is limited to 2500 copies. Fans of the character have tracked down this cover on the aftermarket, adding this beauty to their collection! We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 5%, with a high sale of $30 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $26.
13 The Incredible Hulk Vol.1 #449
The first trailer for the Thunderbolts* movie was met with mixed responses. Most were uncertain with the team and whether the characters were able to carry a movie. During the Super Bowl, the Thunderbolts released a much-improved trailer that built up the hype for fans. Not only that but Captain America: Brave New World debuted last week, showcasing the Red Hulk on the screen for the first time. A longstanding fan theory is that Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk will become part of the Thunderbolts team. Given that the movie seems to be themed around redemption, Ford’s Red Hulk character arc from CA: BNW would fit in perfectly, which is also driving hype for the Thunderbolts* film! We tracked seven copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 6%, with a high sale of $300 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $75.
14 Lobo #1
Lobo has been trending since WB announced that Jason Momoa would portray the character in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Recently, James Gunn shared that fans will have to wait a while to see Momoa’s Lobo. Since the majority of the movie will take place in outer space, Gunn mentioned that he intends to keep Lobo’s look secret for as long as possible. Nevertheless, fans are still hyped for the casting. While Lobo’s first appearance might be harder to track down, Lobo’s first solo series is an easier book to find for collectors. The cover is also a great visual representation of Lobo and all the craziness we are hoping to see on the silver screen! We tracked 10 copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 20%, with a high sale of $190 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $10.
15 The Incredible Hulk #181
Captain America: Brave New World added a whole new element to the MCU, literally! MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD… After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has littered easter eggs for the X-Men throughout shows and movies. All these teasers were either minimal or taking place in an alternate universe. However, CA: BNW introduced adamantium to the main MCU timeline. In fact, the entire story revolves around countries rushing to control this new versatile element before any other country weaponizes it. It is a great introduction to the metal that will lead to the eventual debut of this timeline’s Wolverine! In anticipation, fans are tracking down his first epic appearance. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 4%, with a high sale of $4,000 for a CGC 7.5 copy and a current raw VF FMV of $3,000.
16 The Punisher Vol.1 #1
Fans were stoked to see Frank Castle again in the latest Daredevil: Born Again trailer. Just one week before the release of the series, it has been announced that Jon Bernthal will be leading his own series! That’s right! The Punisher will star in his own Special Presentation series on Disney+. The last two Special Presentations, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Werewolf by Night, were positively received by fans. Punisher’s Special Presentation will likely follow in Daredevil’s footsteps and debut with an MA rating. With so much hype behind this project, it makes sense that Punisher’s first solo series is trending on the aftermarket! We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 124%, with a high sale of $490 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $27.
17 Wolverine #1 – Frank Miller – Direct
As mentioned earlier, Captain America: Brave New World has changed the scope of the MCU forever. The film introduced the metal most crucial to Wolverine’s origin, adamantium. The metal is already so widely coveted that it took a whole movie to showcase how various countries are racing to claim it. This is just the start of adamantium, but we all know where it leads. Fans of Wolverine are securing his first appearance and also chasing down the first issue of his solo series before any official announcements are made! We tracked 18 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 87%, with a high sale of $600 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $142.
18 Batman #423 – Todd McFarlane – Direct
Here’s a book that doesn’t need any media hype or key status. This book makes its impression on collectors by the sheer badassery of the comic book cover art. McFarlane’s cover art is so iconic that it has been homaged in tons of other comic book series. When media announcements get slow, classic books like this shoot to the top of every collector’s list. It looks like this past week was a great week to track this cover down! (NOTE: There is also a rumor that the new Batman will debut in an end credits scene of the new Superman film. However, this is likely not a reason this book was trending) We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 68%, with a high sale of $225 for a raw FN copy and a current raw NM FMV of $184.
19 The Amazing Spider-Man Vol.1 #316 – Todd McFarlane – Regular
The Venom hype is back! For those who followed the animated series Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the final episodes just aired. In this episode, a familiar storyline is explored in the MCU. This Peter fights an interdimensional alien with Dr. Strange, eventually sending it back to the dimension it came from. However, similar to the MCU, a piece of this alien (symbiote) is left behind in this dimension. Many are speculating that this animated tease is just the beginning of Venom and we’ll see his debut in the MCU soon! We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 33%, with a high sale of $356 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $123.
20 Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars #8 – Direct
We got not one but two potential Venom storylines in the works. The MCU has been a longstanding question mark as to whether we will see Venom anytime soon. Rumors have suggested that Tom Hardy’s Venom might make an appearance in MCU’s Spider-Man 4 project, but that is all hearsay for now. A more likely earlier appearance may occur in the animated Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series. The first season’s conclusion ended with a piece of symbiote left behind in the current dimension, similar to the MCU’s tease at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. It doesn’t matter which debuts first, fans are still flocking to the aftermarket to secure their copy of the alien symbiote’s origin! We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 10%, with a high sale of $575 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $150.
