Comic Picks of the Week For Delivery 3/12/25

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

What’s up Wednesday Warriors? Another small week, still some pretty good books. DC goes hard on the facsimiles though. Here is what is on tap:

New Series
Dark Pyramid #1 – Hooky Hidalgo, adventurist and popular live streamer, has gone missing while climbing Mt. Denali in Alaska! When his girlfriend, Becca, arrives at the base of the mountain to retrace his steps, she soon discovers something beyond the dreamy and impressive landscape. There’s a conspiracy deep within the heart of Denali itself-a dark pyramid, silent, waiting. Becca-and the scores of Hooky fans determined to either find him or find some fun-will face death, avalanches….and monsters to find the truth.

Kendra #1 – THE NEWEST HEROINE FROM THE GODFATHER OF AMERICAN MANGA! In a land of barbarians, dragons and spellcasters, Kendra, a sultry siren of a sell-sword, always seems to get the short end of the stick! As she navigates the trials and tribulations of this unforgiving world, always looking for the next employment opportunity, she is hired by a most unlikely patron on a quest that may prove more daunting than she realized

Mildly Interesting

One to Watch
Prodigal Son #1 – I like this one for several reasons. First, Actor Martin Kove, Sensei Kreese from Cobra Kai and Karate Kid, launches his very first comic book. Also written by Don Handfield known for The Founder, Amazing Stories, and other movies and shows. AMP Comics’ premiere issue is here! A twelve-year-old boy teams up with the meanest outlaw in the Old West to exact revenge on the gang that murdered his family in cold blood. The outlaw has his own reasons for wanting the gang dead, and as they pursue the killers deeper into the desert, the boy must decide who’s the greater threat to his soul-the merciless gang he pursues or the outlaw he rides with?

Pick of the Week
Assorted Crisis Events #1 – Really looking forward to this one! Imagine all the DC Crisis seen from the perspective of every day people.
Time is having a crisis. Mingling in the red-light district, you can find actual cavemen, medieval knights, and cyborg soldiers on leave from World War IV. Victorian debutantes amble their way into cell phone stores, confused and bewildered (what is a data plan?). On their way to work, bleary-eyed commuters get trapped in time-loops, assaulted by alternate-reality versions of themselves, and try to avoid post-apocalyptic wastelands. And LOOK: the 3:15 bus just took a wrong turn…into the neolithic era. ASSORTED CRISIS EVENTS, an ongoing, zig-zagging anthology series about the compromised clicks of our clocks-full of one-shot stories both beautiful and ugly, tragic and redemptive, surreal and somehow all too familiar. Stories of people (and reality) in CRISIS-trying to keep it together while the world is falling apart, second by twisted second…
