1 IMPACT WINTER #1 – Regular
Two weeks ago, it was announced that Netflix had acquired the rights to the popular Audible podcast – Impact Winter. The project secured Francis Lawrence as a director, known for I Am Legend and four Hunger Games movies. They also secured writer Travis Beacham, who co-wrote Pacific Rim and Clash of the Titans. It is also worth noting that Travis co-created Impact Winter. The adaptation is set to be a series and is based primarily off of the podcast. However, this book is a one-shot prequel to the podcast series, and comic fans have targeted it for their collection. The aftermarket is booming with these sales! We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 173%, with a high sale of $62 for a Raw NM+ copy and a current raw NM FMV of $42.
2 Sister Imperator #1 – Rafael Sarmento – Regular
This book has moved up from its number 6 spot last week! The band Ghost has built an extensive list of characters and lore behind their band. Each album is a new chapter in their character’s origins and, yes, even deaths. *SPOILER ALERT* Sister Imperator has already met her demise at the end of Ghost’s concert film, Rite Here Rite Now, last year. Though, she is still present as a spirit, like other band members. This book explores the origins of Sister Imperator and how she became the woman we see in the film. Fans of the Grammy-winning heavy metal band have flocked to the aftermarket to secure their copy of this character’s origin. We tracked 68 copies sold, with a 7-day growth trend of 62%, a high sale of $29 for a Raw NM copy, and a current raw NM FMV of $16.
3 Invincible Returns #1 – David Finch – Regular
Season 3 of Invincible ended with two pulse-pounding and brutal episodes. *SPOILERS AHEAD* for those that haven’t finished watching, this is your last warning… The series ended with Conquest arriving on Earth, after the Invincible fight barely wrapped up. The two fight to the bitter end, with Invincible barely scraping a victory, thanks to Atom Eve. Since Season 1, we knew that a Viltrumite War was coming to the series; the question was when? Well, it may be Season 4. After all, in the comics, Thragg, a high-ranking Viltrumite, is revealed to have sent Conquest to Earth. After learning of Conquest’s failure, Thragg leads a charge on Earth. Logically, this could be the next step in the animated series, and fans are taking that bet by hunting down Thragg’s first appearance! After all, Kirkman is a long-term storyteller, and he loves the Invincible Universe! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 45% with a high sale of $207 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $33.
4 Absolute Batman #4 – Gabriel Hernandez Walta & Frank Martins – 2nd Print (1:25)
Absolute Batman is still a hit with fans. This issue was originally released back in January. However, this second print just hit the stands last week! Fans who had missed out on the issue had an opportunity to secure this copy. More importantly, this release also came with a 1:25 retailer incentive that fans are scooping up. Although order numbers are nearly impossible to tell, this book has enough of a following that it might be difficult to secure in the wild, which is why fans have turned to the aftermarket for this copy of the Dark Knight’s new series! We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $60 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $57.
5 Invincible #60 – Ryan Ottley – Regular
The Invincible War is crazy to see unfold on the animated series! It was a huge event for fans of Invincible comics, and it is mind-blowing to see it play out on the series. The sheer badassery of this event is the reason this book is trending! We tracked 9 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 59%, with a high sale of $340 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $105.
6 Starship Troopers #1
Cult classic Starship Troopers was a great 90s film. It encompassed much of the campiness of that era. While not appreciated during its time, the movie held its own and was nominated for a few awards in Best Motion Picture and Best Visual Effects. Fast-forward to today, and the film is getting a fresh reboot from filmmaker Neill Blomkamp (District 9). Sony, the studio behind the production, has promised to heavily reference the original 1959 book, Troopers, for material. However, for us comic fans, we are going to enjoy this comic mini-series, which adapted the film. We tracked eight copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 119%, with a high sale of $25 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw VF FMV of $30.
7 Invincible #26
If you couldn’t tell, Invincible is currently trending… The show came to a climactic conclusion last week, and to say that fans are hyped is an understatement. This isn’t a particularly heavy spoiler book, but it is a key event in the mythos. This book marks (pun intended) the first appearance of Oliver, aka Kid Omni-Man. We got to see the beginning of his hero adventure in Season 3 but he is likely to take on a bigger role in Season 4. These books are growing in popularity as we anticipate the next season of Invincible. We tracked seven copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 80%, with a high sale of $175 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $24.
8 Invincible #51 – Jim Lee – Regular
This is a fun cover and an important one for Invincible fans. If you tuned into the new season or even saw the promos, you see that Mark has dawned a new suit. In true superhero fashion, a new adventure means new threads. This issue is the first appearance of that blue suit, just as it appears in the series. A fun minor key to collect now that the season has concluded! We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 19%, with a high sale of $60 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $55.
9 Invincible #61
*SPOILER ALERT… AGAIN* If you’ve made it to this entry, you have already seen most of the Invincible spoilers… Nevertheless, this spoiler is the season finale episode so fair warning, again! In the last episode of the season, we see an old Viltrumite appear and go to battle against Invincible. The fight takes up the entirety of the episode, and it is brutal. Oliver and Atom Eve join the fight and also get badly injured. All is well, as the fight ends with the Viltrumite’s death. This book has been trending because it is the first appearance of that Viltrumite, known as Conquest. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 28%, with a high sale of $450 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $152.
10 Assorted Crisis Events #1 – Mike Del Mundo (1:25)
This is a breath of fresh air from the long line of Invincible comics trending this week. This little anthology series was released just this past week. The series covers one-shot stories set in a universe where time is being disrupted. Random moments, creatures, or people from different eras just randomly plopped into everyday scenarios. The issue debuted to rave reviews and all-around positive reception. It makes sense that the rare retailer exclusive is trending, especially since this book has already been sent back for a 2nd print run. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 54%, with a high sale of $30 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $28.
