RUNNERS UP
11 Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars Vol.1 #10 – Direct
The Russo brothers recently popped up and dropped some Avengers news, which got the community looking toward the future. One point of excitement is the future Avengers film, Avengers: Secret Wars. With RDJ returning as Doom, many collectors are looking toward this classic run as the material they will draw from. It has several incredible covers, including this Mike Zeck gem featuring a beat to hell, Dr. Doom. It also serves as the Secret Wars “finale” and routinely sells well on the aftermarket with everything going for it. We tracked 12 copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 134%, with a high sale of $265 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw VF FMV of $32.
12 Invincible #65
If you’ve been watching Invincible, you know why this book is on our list. In the aftermath of the Invincible War, Robot, or Rudy, a clone of Rex Splode, opts to take on the name of his fallen comrade. It’s bizarre, but a drop in the pond that is Invincible. It’s a cheap book for Invincible fans to track down! We tracked seven copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 41%, with a high sale of $25 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw VF FMV of $10.
13 Invincible #72
We’ve touched on it before, but the comic series gets going with the Invincible War. There is no moment to catch your breath, with the next big event right around the corner. That is the Viltrum War, with many iconic moments occurring that propel the book forward. It’s not a “key” per se, which typically is a first appearance, but it does mark one of the coolest runs of Invincible ever conceived. We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 27%, with a high sale of $30 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw VF FMV of $20.
14 The Punisher #13
If you’re up to date with Daredevil: Born Again, you saw the last episode, which ended on a huge cliffhanger. We know from the trailers that Jon Bernthal will return as Punisher, but we have yet to see him in the series thus far. Still, the Punisher iconography has been everywhere and it will be interesting to see what the Punisher has in store. This cover feels ripped right from the series on Disney+ and is an easy target for fans on the aftermarket. We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 25%, with a high sale of $15 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $15.
15 X-Force Vol.1 #116
Rumors often drive the market, much like with this book. It marks the first appearance of team X-Statix and the first appearances of Zeitgeist, Doop, U-Go Girl, Coach, Anarchist, Battering Ram, Gin Genie, LA Nuit, Plazm, and Sluk. It’s likely a bunch of characters you’ve never heard of, but recently, concept art supposedly leaked featuring Doop for a future project. The legitimacy of said rumor is in question, so take it with a grain of salt. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 20%, with a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $25.
16 Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends Vol.1 #1 – Newsstand
This one is a bit of a deep cut, so follow closely. Sadie Sink, of Stranger Things fame, was recently cast in the upcoming Spider-Man 4 in a currently unknown role. Most immediately think of Mary Jane Watson, but we’ve already received many iterations. Cue this deep cut, a book that features the first appearance of Firestar! Technically, she first appeared in the series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, which is an adaptation of this book. Some fans have pivoted toward this book as a fresh character to bring to the MCU after Johnny Storm is introduced in Fantastic Four: First Steps. She also did time with the X-Men, considering she’s a Mutant! It’s early to begin theorizing, but there are fans out there picking up this book should the above play out. We tracked six copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 15%, with a high sale of $399 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $22.
17 Alias #1
We’ve gotten Kingpin, Daredevil, The Punisher, Foggy, Karen, and more characters returning from their Netflix hiatus. It’s a party over there at Daredevil: Born Again, and the crowd is invited. Thus far, there has been no confirmation that Kristen Ritter’s Jessica Jones could make a crossover appearance, but fans have been theorizing that for a while. With so many familiar faces hitting the screen, fans wanted to secure the first appearance of Jessica Jones before it may be too late. We tracked 9 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 7% with a high sale of $163 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $55.
18 The Spectacular Spider-Man Vol.1 #9 – Regular
White Tiger didn’t have much screen time in Daredevil: Born Again, but he made a big impact. His first appearance in this book has seen some heat dissipate as fans have a better understanding of what we will get from this iteration of the character. His vigilante identity saved his bacon but also put a spotlight on a Kingpin talking point thus far. It remains to be seen how much more influence White Tiger will have over the remainder of the season. We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 63%, with a high sale of $160 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw FN FMV of $27.
19 Daredevil #183 – Direct
The cliffhanger ending to last week’s episode of Daredevil: Born Again is setting up a showdown of sorts between Daredevil and the Punisher, and there is no other iconic showdown between the pair than this book! Fans have been eager to see the characters reunite, but they definitely love it when it’s on the more adversarial side! We tracked 32 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 48%, with a high sale of $175 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw VF FMV of $27.
20 Spawn #1 – Todd McFarlane – Direct
Spawn is the aftermarket king. This book is almost like a right of passage at this point, with nearly every collector owning or handling this book through their collecting adventure. It had a massive print run and is an overall killer entry for collectors. It’s easy to see why it popped up on this list once again. We tracked 51 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 27% with a high sale of $103 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $26.
