RUNNERS UP

11 Wolverine #8 – Daniel Warren Johnson – 2nd Print – Virgin (1:25)
When the first print hit shelves, collectors were beside themselves, trying to get a copy. Daniel Warren Johnson crushed this book, blending both new and old iterations of Wolverine to deliver an iconic cover. Samurai Wolverine is prime stuff, and it’s an easy way to engage the community by delivering work like this. It went so gangbusters the first time around; we got a 2nd print and a virgin cover at that! This book also delivers the first appearance of the Adamantine, essentially sentient adamantium. Mouthful, we know, but hey, it’s comics. We tracked 14 copies sold, with a 7-day growth trend of 28% and a high sale of $160 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $79.

12 The Amazing Spider-Man Vol.1 #301 – Todd McFarlane – Regular
The Toddfather has been making comments lately about the first appearance of Venom. What constitutes a first appearance, how much, how little, etc. The man who helped bring Venom to life and the cover for this book is wading into the discussion. That caused the aftermarket to see quite the pop on the books directly preceding and following the consensus first appearance of Venom in issue #300. How it will play out is anyone’s guess, as the culture is pretty content, with #300 being the book to get. But the discussion is now out there, and we’re seeing the effects of it. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3%, with a high sale of $1500 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $61.

13 The Amazing Spider-Man Vol.1 #299 – Todd McFarlane – Regular
As mentioned in the previous entry, the man who helped bring Venom to the masses has added his two cents to the discussion, albeit briefly, during an interview at WonderCon a couple of weeks ago. That’s caused numerous collectors to take a second look at this issue, featuring the first cameo of Venom. The community had pretty much considered this a settled topic, but when McFarlane speaks on the subject, collectors tend to listen. We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 5%, with a high sale of $1375 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $86

14 Invincible #19 – Ryan Ottley – Battle Beast Blind Bag Edition – Foil
The Battle Beast hype train is chugging along! We’ve realistically seen it getting up to speed since the debut of Season 3 as collectors look to the future. That unsurprisingly goes through Battle Beast, with his recent mini-series hitting shelves. But as new collectors are brought into the fold, they inevitably want to revisit the first appearance of some major players in the series, including Battle Beast. Unfortunately, with the surge in popularity Invincible is experiencing, those books are quickly growing out of reach. As a reprint of that famous first appearance issue and a blind bag prize, this is likely to land on our list. We tracked 11 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 80%, with a high sale of $18 for a NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $13.

15 DC Pride 2025 #1 – Sozomaika
It’s Pride month, so naturally, we got a pride-centric cover and a book we’ve highlighted on our FOC list and NCBD list, respectively. Of course, it has to feature Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, two characters who have been shipped together for what feels like forever. Still, if Sozomaika is putting their talents towards a cover, the fanbase will notice. It feels like Sozomaika gets first dibs at this point, and why not, when covers they’re featured on typically do quite well! We tracked 12 copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 27%, with a high sale of $15 for a NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $12.

16 Summer Of Superman Special #1 – Alexander Lozano
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is right around the corner, and fans and collectors have been paying extra attention to books where she is heavily featured. Take this book as an example! It went bananas when it first dropped before quieting down, but it hasn’t gone anywhere quite yet. Not only does it feature Supergirl front and center, but it also holds the wedding of John Henry Irons (Steel) and Lana Lang, an event the fanbase was pumped for! We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 26%, with a high sale of $89 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $17.

17 Spawn #1 – Todd McFarlane – Direct
Ole faithful, ole reliable, ole…you get the gist. Spawn #1 is the aftermarket king, and that has just as much to do with the character as it does with the man who made him. Todd McFarlane has been in the news lately, and that inevitably puts more eyes on this book. There are constant new Spawn titles, movie hopes, classic series, and action figure discussions inundating collectors at various stages of the hobby. Hell, it feels like a prerequisite to become a member of the hobby, having this book pass through their collections. We tracked 45 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 8%, with a high sale of $169 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $18.

18 The Curse Of Sherlee Johnson #1 – Ryan Ottley (1:50)
For a character that appeared in one issue (Spawn #5) before being murdered and never seen again, there’s some pretty heavy aftermarket movement. The majority of that likely came about because Ryan Ottley nailed this 1:50 variant, the highest ratio available, and likely a unicorn for this series, as the majority of LCS isn’t kicking down the door-to-hit ratio. Spawn is popular, recognizable, all the things, but the series that surrounds his universe is less so. Unless the fandom gets hit with a variant like this one, bringing numerous eyes to the title who otherwise wouldn’t take a second look. We tracked seven copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 3%, with a high sale of $125 for a NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $102.

19 Mark Spears Monsters #5 – Mark Spears – Batman #217 Homage (1:25)
Layered. Homages. Mark Spears is quickly becoming the king of it, helping to drive the Spears fever we find ourselves wading through today. It nails mass appeal consistently like nothing we’ve seen over the years. A Batman homage, on a horror book, from a small press publisher. Fans love that kind of stuff, and Mark Spears has been able to tap in, hence his steady presence on this list. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 21%, with a high sale of $45 for a NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $30.

20 Nightwing #126 – Vasco Georgiev (1:25)
We got a noir mystery cooking within the pages of Nightwing, and with this issue introducing the enigmatic Captain Hallow, a new villain, in full plague doctor get-up. However, the talk surrounding this book centers on its cover, and it’s a stellar one from Vasco Georgiev! Being the highest ratio available at 1:25, this would be a tough one to get at the LCS. Hence, the aftermarket movement online, as once fans got a glimpse, they had to have it. While the Absolute universe has gotten most of the attention over at DC, Nightwing is still cooking! We tracked six copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 17% with a high sale of $40 for a NM raw copy and a current raw NM FMV of $38.We got a noir mystery cooking within the pages of Nightwing, and with this issue introducing the enigmatic Captain Hallow, a new villain, in full plague doctor get-up.
