RUNNERS UP
11 Event Horizon: Dark Descent #1 – Christian Ward – Cover RI – Virgin Foil (1:50)
28 years later, here we are. A cult classic has been given a prequel to answer the series’ biggest questions. Horror movies are known for creating cult followings, and Event Horizon is no exception. It was a seemingly divisive movie at the time, with many expecting a tale of space monsters, only to be taken on a trip to Hell instead. It plays on a neat twist, but in 1997, it didn’t connect with the majority of the crowd. Still, it’s a novel film that still sees a following… a following that is more than ecstatic to see the prequel of the film in comic format! Christian Ward has also built a following, with hits like BATMAN: CITY OF MADNESS, and fans were ready to see him tackle this project. So many eyes were on this book, waiting for it to succeed, and it delivered! It makes perfect sense that the retailer incentive is a highly desirable collectible cover! We tracked seven copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 13% with a high sale of $63 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $52.
12 Event Horizon: Dark Descent #1 – Joshua Hixson – Cover RI (1:25)
The hype for this cult classic continues as fans also hunt down the 1:25 retailer incentive. This series has started off with a strong, grisly story, which many fans are happy to see. There’s no holding back in this issue as it explores the gory and uncensored version of the influences of Hell. What’s most exciting about this book is that it could bring fresh eyes to the film of which it is a prequel. Could the extremely positive reception of this issue breathe new life into the cult classic? Only time will tell! We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 31% with a high sale of $34 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $23.
13 Absolute Batman #1 – Nick Dragotta – Regular
The origin of Absolute Bane was revealed last week, with the release of ABSOLUTE BATMAN #11. The Absolute Batman series has been going strong, with many fans following the latest iteration of the dark knight. New readers may be jumping in the middle of a story and are now hitting the aftermarket to track down earlier issues. Absolute Batman continues to dominate the last year of sales! We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 5% with a high sale of $129 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $31.
14 Ultimate Spider-Man #1 – Marco Checchetto – Regular
Speaking of dominating the aftermarket, Ultimate Spider-Man has also dominated this past year. It has been a frequent highlight in our Top Ten or Runner-Up lists. This time, it is likely trending again because of the sudden reveal of Ultimate Venom! In a desperate moment, Richard Parker gives his tech suit full control, and it lashes out to protect him from danger. This mode manifests itself in a recognizable form, Venom! Now that fans know that Richard Parker is this universe’s Venom, they’re likely to track down his first appearance in this flagship issue! We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 4% with a high sale of $220 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $114.
15 The Amazing Spider-Man #546 – Steve McNiven – Regular
Mr. Negative is all the rage as fans wait for any more news on Brand New Day. For the most part, fans have been spoiled with on-set photos and behind-the-scenes images. Leaks and speculation have run rampant, as Marvel seems to be less secretive about their filming than in previous films. However, that’s all coming to an end. Filming in the open city is coming to an end. As we still have a full year before the film’s release, news may be slowing down… but the sales on this first appearance are not! We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1% with a high sale of $175 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $21.
16 The New Mutants #98 – Rob Liefeld – Regular
It’s hard to believe an MCU future without Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. His love for the character has kept Deadpool alive through the Disney acquisition of Fox. While other characters have seen reboots, Deadpool stayed true to form. Now that he has had his debut appearance in the MCU (sort of), fans are holding on as they wait for official news of his return, with such a jam-packed set of stars, who knows if Reynolds will return for Avengers: Doomsday. Until official news is released, this book stays hot on the aftermarket. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1% with a high sale of $1100 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $275.
17 The Amazing Spider-Man Vol.1 #100
This is an interesting book to see on the Runner’s list, as it has no direct ties to any Spidey news lately. Then again, it was a slow week for MCU news, so this could be a result of your everyday collector finding awesome deals on the aftermarket and picking up a killer cover! It could also be fans of the six-armed Spider-Man storyline, which begins with this issue. While there aren’t any hints that Holland’s Spider-Man will grow four additional limbs, there were hints of a six-armed Spider-Man in the MCU. After the release of What if…? season 3, a concept artist went to X (formerly Twitter) to release unused concept art of a six-armed Spider-Man. While the character wasn’t used in the series, the art did make an appearance in the final montage that teased the future of the series. Whatever the reason, I am sure all buyers were happy to snag this legendary cover art! We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 117% with a high sale of $336 for a CGC 8.5 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $119.
18 Wolverine #8 – Daniel Warren Johnson
Some covers just stick with fans, long after their release. This Wolverine cover has been a star since it was first released. It features a story of Wolverine as a samurai in a style reminiscent of Frank Miller. The cover is also reminiscent of the same style. It’s a great book to add to anyone’s Wolverine collection when media rumors/leaks are having a slow week! We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 32% with a high sale of $186 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $61.
19 Uncanny X-Men #266 – Direct
There are a lot of reasons that this book could be trending. To start off with, the cover is an iconic cover for fans of Gambit. It is also a hotly debated topic between fans’ preferences over 1st full appearance or 1st cover appearance. In the case of this book, cover appearance wins. The other reason this book could be trending is due to the release of Gambit in a game called Marvel Mystic Mayhem. The game is a superhero team-based mobile tactical RPG. It launched back in June and topped free mobile game charts in many regions. As with many things, the fandom is divided between the depth of the story and the pay-to-win mechanics included. Whichever side you fall on, fans were excited to see the Ragin’ Cajun announced as the next character to appear! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 13% with a high sale of $531 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $139.
20 Marvel Swimsuit Special: Friends, Foes & Rivals #1 – J Scott Campbell – 2nd Print – Virgin (1:25)
Swimsuit covers are always a big hit with fans. This particular cover saw its first debut back in July during SDCC. This was the 2025 wraparound exclusive by J. Scott Campbell. If fans were unable to snag a copy at SDCC this year, they got another chance during the 2nd printing, where Marvel gave this 1:25 retailer incentive the black and white treatment. This book has a lot going for it, as it earns its spot on our Runner-Up list this week! We tracked six copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3% with a high sale of $70 for a raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $67. Rivals #1 – J Scott Campbell – 2nd Print – Virgin (1:25)
