RUNNERS UP
11 Fantastic Four Vol.1 #36 (eBay)
The Inhumans are back in Marvel comics with Imperial #3. We’ll leave that there. But one of the major players of the Inhumans, Medusa, first appears in this book. It also features the first appearance of the Frightful Four, with Medusa as a member, along with Sandman, Wizard, and Paste-Pot Pete (the Trapster). It’s a classic Fantastic Four book for fans to chase! We tracked 10 copies sold, with a 7-day growth trend of 90% and a high sale of $17,388 for a CGC 9.6 copy, and a current raw VG FMV of $96.
12 Alias #1 (eBay)
Kristen Ryter as Jessica Jones is officially joining season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. Fans are pumped about that. But, there has also been a recent rumor gaining steam that Jessica Jones will get a rebooted series. Currently, the rumor hasn’t been confirmed anywhere of repute, but it is out there. Still, Jessica Jones has fans all her own, and collectors don’t miss a chance to secure her first appearance in this book. We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 34% with a high sale of $205 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $60.
13 Red Sonja #1 (eBay)
It flew under the radar for most, but a relatively low-budget Red Sonja movie dropped in mid-August. It didn’t get a wide release, but it appears it’s garnering fans for what it is. That put a spotlight on her first ongoing series, a moderately priced entry point for collectors. We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 26% with a high sale of $270 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw VF FMV of $18.
14 Spawn #1 – Todd McFarlane – Direct (eBay)
Spawn is set to return in a brutal mini-series next month with Spawn: Dark Ages. Outside of that, not much is new in the world of Spawn. Still the aftermarket king! We tracked 29 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 8% with a high sale of $175 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $25.
15 Fantastic Four Vol.1 #57 (eBay)
Jack Kirby art featuring a stellar Dr. Doom? Yes, please! If that wasn’t enough, in this issue, Doom steals the Silver Surfer’s powers. Amongst the rumors circulating about Avengers: Doomsday, that’s been one of the more prevalent. Still, there is a large chunk of Fantastic Four books of the era doing well on the aftermarket, no matter what transpires within. We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 7% with a high sale of $108 for a RAW FN and a current raw VG FMV of $77.
16 The Amazing Spider-Man Vol.1 #300 – Todd McFarlane – Direct (eBay)
The rumors are flying hard and fast regarding Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with constant set leaks coming out that lead eagle-eyed viewers to strong opinions. One opinion floating around pertains to the appearance of Venom, or the black suit on Spider-Man, at least. Either way, this is a major key for most Spider-Man collectors, as it’s the consensus first full appearance of Venom. We tracked 23 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 5% with a high sale of $2,640 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $387.
17 Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars Vol.1 #1 – Direct (eBay)
Since the next two Avengers movie titles were announced, one of which is Secret Wars, collectors have been steadily picking up the run. Issue #8 is usually the one collectors target, being the first appearance of the black Spider-Man suit. But the whole run has major consequences for Marvel at large, and collectors are hoping it will be the run the MCU pulls from down the line. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3% with a high sale of $300 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw VF FMV of $27.
18 Marvel Super-Heroes Secret Wars Vol.1 #10 – Direct (eBay)
