RUNNERS UP

11 V For Vendetta #1
Remember, remember, the fifth of November… is the insanely popular catchphrase for this comic/film. Every year, on the fifth of November, fans around the world sit down and re-watch this fan favorite film inspired by this book. A subset of which inevitably dive a little further and discover the incredible comic from Alan Moore that set this whole IP in motion. To top it off, it was announced very recently that V for Vendetta will be getting another adaptation, this time on the small screen via HBO. More than enough reasons for collectors to dive into the aftermarket to secure a copy. Long live V! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 37% with a high sale of $165 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $33.

12 Absolute Batman #5 – Nick Dragotta – Regular
We’re starting to see the floor being established for these Absolute Batman books. Technically, this book doesn’t have a fancy first appearance or anything particular going on in it. Batman has a plan that goes haywire, but that’s about it (huge understatement). Outside of that, this was supposed to be the penultimate issue before Absolute Batman concluded, before fanfare became extreme, and they opted to keep it going. Now that Absolute Batman is becoming a powerhouse, collectors are returning and picking up issues they may have missed out on. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 10% with a high sale of $25 for a NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $20.

13 Absolute Batman #7 – Nick Dragotta – Regular
This book marks the second “arc” of Absolute Batman, or the arc that wasn’t meant to be. Originally designed as a mini-series, this book saw serious fanfare, and the creators opted to keep it going. And good thing they did, as they still had some rogues gallery to deliver! This book marks the first cameo of Mr. Freeze and a pivotal point for the book. Here is where it really amped up, and it hasn’t slowed down since. The hype surrounding it has been insane, and collectors are snagging up copies whenever they hit the market for a decent price. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 8% with a high sale of $75 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $26.

14 The New Mutants #98 – Rob Liefeld – Regular
Rob Liefeld has been getting a ton of love lately thanks to the Youngblood reboot. So much so, it hit a second printing, with one of the covers homaging this very issue. As it features the first appearance of Deadpool, we’ve seen this book a ton lately. Now that Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld is hitting the news, collectors inevitably check in on Deadpool and this book. As it’s a must-have key for many, we see pretty steady sales, with the occasional larger movement week. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 26% with a high sale of $970 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $305.

15 Spider-Man & Wolverine #6 – Greg Land – Muppets
What a homage! These Muppet covers have been a hoot, but this one is downright delightful. Homaging Wolverine #1 from 1982, they’ve taken the iconic cover and flipped it on its head. Celebrating the 70th anniversary of an IP (The Muppets) never looked so cool. And just in time for the hype train to build further, with news of a Muppets movie from the likes of Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence floating around the internet. We tracked 10 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 25% with a high sale of $17 for an NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $12.

16 Skinbreaker #1 – David Finch & Annalisa Leoni – Black Foil Logo – Thank You (1 Per Store)
When it first dropped, this book was going bananas! Mostly because collectors were insanely hyped for the new series from Robert Kirkman and David Finch. Usually, we see the Thank You variants do quite well, and it has. But when Kirkman came out and heaped praise on the Treasury Editions, eyes shifted a bit from this book more toward the Treasury Edition. Now that we’re a bit removed from release, and the hype has died down some, collectors are circling back and revisiting this variant! We tracked 8 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 12% with a high sale of $125 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $42

17 Predator #1
Predator: Badlands just dropped in theatres, and while a consensus hasn’t been reached quite yet, it doesn’t appear to have destroyed the Predator franchise to the dismay of a few. Predator as an IP has been a major topic of discussion, with not one, but two major releases in one calendar year in the mentioned Badlands, and the animated feature from earlier this year, Killer of Killers. What better way to contribute to the fandom than securing the first appearance of Predator in comics right here! We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 12% with a high sale of $415 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $77.

18 Venom: Lethal Protector #1 – Regular
This book is the first ongoing title for our boy Venom, and a book many collectors look toward as a must-have “key”. Outside of the expensive first appearances, this is a solid entry point for collectors to dip their toes into without breaking the bank. Venom has been making headlines lately as well, especially with the Queen in Black, Knull’s return, MJ as Venom, and more shenanigans taking place within the comics. Heck, even an article just dropped from the director of the Venom movie, detailing the film’s struggles. Needless to say, Venom is on the collective mind, and moved some books on the aftermarket as a result. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 11% with a high sale of $40 for a Raw NM+ copy and a current raw NM FMV of $23.

19 Simpsons Comics And Stories #1
We’ve seen a correlation between Fortnite and an uptick in comic sales. The Simpsons are apparently no different, as they’re the newest to join the game and see a rise in aftermarket sales as a result. But that’s not all. Longtime show runner Al Jean is set to leave the show. A new season is in full swing, and they’re getting another movie on the big screen. The Simpsons have it going on, and so does their first appearance in comics with this book. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 8% with a high sale of $50 for a CGC 9.4 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $15.

20 Spawn #1 – Todd McFarlane – Direct
New series, new figures, ongoing runs, Todd McFarlane. This book is the aftermarket king and has a place in nearly everyone’s PC. With the constant stream of work McFarlane cranks out, Spawn has remained relevant for two decades now, and it shows no sign of slowing down. We tracked 24 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1% with a high sale of $70 for a CGC 9.6 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $28.
