FOC PICKS FOR 6/15/26

F.O.C.!!! F.O.C.!!! F.O.C!!!

Everyone have World Cup Fever yet? Probably not, but I have watched every US world cup game since 1990, and that performance was a long time coming. I can’t remember a WC game they’ve played that wasn’t overly stressful or frustrating. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going. Canada and Mexico also finished strong in their first games.

Anyway, been a long weekend of “futbol” and getting stuff done before the summer officially kicks off next weekend. Let’s see if we can spot the hot books coming out a month from now this FOC.

Don’t forget to use code CHU2026 at checkout at Third Eye Comics to save 15% off all your orders!

COVERS

Absolute Batman #22 (Dan Quintana Variant)

Unless you’ve been out of comics the past few months, you know who Dan Quintana is, and you’ve been waiting for this cover to hit FOC. Not his best, but people can’t get enough of him, and he’s not afraid to tell you that. Is it possible this book may have more copies ordered than cover A?

Origin of Absolute Harley this issue.

Mark Spears MidKnight Man #2 (Atari Homage)

This cover hits the nostalgic button for many of us!

Supergirl #15 (Ariel Diaz – Swimsuit Variant)

People are likely picking this up for the Krypto as a Corgi…right?

NOTABLE REPRINTS

Batman #156 (Facsimile – Foil Variant)

The story explores Batman’s psychological vulnerability and his deep emotional bond with Robin, highlighting the Boy Wonder’s importance to the Dark Knight.

Remember the first time Robin died. If that was before your time, then here’s your chance to read the facsimile.

Dungeon Crawler Carl Special Edition #0

This special #0 issue is your chance to own DCC in single issue format. Collects the first episode (and more!) of the WEBTOON series.

This says it’s a reprint of the FCBD comics, but at a $9.99 price tag I hope it’s more than that. Solicitation isn’t totally clear. There is also a foil variant and other variant covers.

NEW ONES

Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #1 (Dave Johnson Variant)

Before he was Clayface, Basil Karlo was one of the hottest stars in Hollywood. As he breaks out of Arkham once again, he’s ready to stage his comeback, but there’s just one problem: Someone already beat him to it, and Basil Karlo is already a massive star. But if that’s true, what’s next for the real Basil? And what does his predicament have to do with young women disappearing in Los Angeles and a new supplement causing hideous transformations in its users? Acclaimed horror writer Jude Ellison S. Doyle and rising star artist Fran Galan join forces for a bold new miniseries that’s equal parts body horror and Hollywood glamour.

I like this movie poster variant for this book.

What If…? Jessica Jones #1(Gaydos Variant)

WHAT IF…JESSICA JONES WAS BITTEN BY THE RADIOACTIVE SPIDER? Teenage Super-Hero Sensation SPIDER-GIRL is retired. Surly and eternally miffed bartender JESSICA JONES wants nothing more than to leave that part of her life and the traumas that came with it firmly behind her. But when a ghost from her past comes back to haunt her, she finds herself unable to leave well enough alone. Has the GREEN GOBLIN returned? And if so, is an out-of-shape ex-super hero enough to stop him?

So…what if Jessica Jones was Silk…I like this variant cover, though.

INDY SPOTLIGHT

Banana Number One #1

BANANA NUMBER ONE! INTO THE FUNDAMENT ZONE! Brace yourself for the startling story of a genetically mysterious, seven-foot-tall sentient banana – raised in secret, turned race car driver, turned sex symbol, turned global celebrity, and ultimately turned revolutionary icon – caught between human civilization, fruit rebellion, and the coming war between the two.

This is one of those ideas that seems so bad…it’ll probably be good. I wonder what a sentient banana’s life span is…and how they reproduce. Maybe these questions and more will be answered.

My favorite cover might be the variant with a banana duct taped to the cover. If you get the reference you know. Would have been better if that was the only art on the cover, though.

GIMMICK of the WEEK

Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy #1 (Polybagged with Collectible Card)

The sleepy little town of Aurora Springs, NY, has exactly one claim to fame: it’s the birthplace of Rascal Randy. Not the man in the suit—the man has never mattered. He was no one until he put the mascot head on for the first time, until he felt the life leave someone’s body through the thickly furred gloves of the suit. No, Aurora Springs is the birthplace of Rascal Randy the rabbit, who, once upon a time, was poised to become the greatest animated character this country had ever seen—until greed and tragedy changed his trajectory forever. Now, before the events of EXQUISITE CORPSES SEASON 1, witness the final murder spree of this iconic killer, as chaos hops into town with buckteeth bared and ears flopping…and the secret, sordid history of Rascal Randy is finally revealed.

Just when you thought you didn’t need to collect more collectible trading cards for Exquisite Corpses…they drag you back in with a spin-off miniseries!
