The story kicks off in Olympus. Ares storms a temple looking for someone.

We find out he is searching for his father, Zeus.

And Zeus appears, in the form of a giant eye in the sky.

Ares is there to talk about Wonder Woman, and how she is about to bring about the greatest war the world has ever known. He is not to happy about it, after all, he is the god of war and that is his gig.

Ares is not too fond of his father, he makes it well known.

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman has returned from the Underworld.

She has landed at Area 41 looking for her friend Barbara Minerva.

When she realizes Minerva isn’t in Area 41 anymore, she breaks into Veronica Cale’s house. She has one question, where is Minerva?

Wonder Woman makes threats against Cale, she references her hands, which are always covered by gloves, sure there is a good reason.

The two end up battling.

And when Wonder Woman gets the upper hand, she asks about a hidden level to the building.

WW proceeds to hit the ground where she believes the hidden level is.

She discovers that she is correct. She searches for Minerva.

Cale yells after her, that if Wonder Woman touches her she Cale will kill her.

But it is not Minerva that she discovers, but Cale’s own child, who was turned into a statue.

Zatanna cursed Cale’s hands. She was supposed to have it reversed, but not before her daughter grabbed her hand and turned to stone.

Just as Wonder Woman was going to explain how to reverse it….

Zeus has come to Earth.

Absolute Wonder Woman #23 introduces Zeus, Ares, and Veronica Cale’s stone daughter.
