Sorry for the lack of updates this week

Just wanted to send a quick note and an apology for the lack of updates this week. I am trying to get to the posts and stories I have lined up but I am away from the scenic basement lab / home office of comicsheatingup.net.

You see, sort of like the Clammpet’s, I packed the family up and took them on a trip. We didn’t go to Hollywood. I took the family to Disney.

I haven’t been on vacation in 8 years, not a real long one at least, and thought it was time to take the boys (and my wife) to Florida. So putting my extreme anxiety of flying out of the way, we left Saturday and (possibly the bumpiest flight ever) flew down for 7 days.

I will try to update when I can. The Wednesday posts (picks of the week, variants of the week, open forum, will run normally.) We will resume normal posting as of Saturday.

So now I try to play catch up. Thanks for sticking with me.

  1. Enjoy your well deserved vication. I know I can use one lol. Don’t forget to post some star wars stuff lol. And over all enjoy with the family… ???

    1. Oh man, I really hate flying. There were storms all up and down the east coast too which made the flight bumpy as hell. My brother flew to Mexico the next day and said it was smooth, but everyone he knew that flew the east coast complained about how bad it was.

      1. I was in Asia years ago and flew during a big storm. We were erratically going up and down like crazy. I looked out my window and could see the tree tops on the mountains, as the lightning would go off. I have no idea how many hundreds of feet the plane was from those mountain peaks, but it was far too close for comfort. I have a feeling that flight just squeaked by some very bad news. Since then I still get a little antsy before a flight.

        1. Most of my flights have been cake walks. This one was up and down, I was watching the altimeter on the inflight wifi channel. Had to turn it off. My kids were champs though and had no clue dad was holding the plane up by his white knuckles on the arm rests and his sphincter on the seat.

  2. I grew up in Florida. Have many fond memories of Disneyworld. I know it has changed a lot since then but it is probably even better now! Hope you and the fam had fun!

    1. I last went when I was 7. I remember standing in line with the couple in front of me talking about “Global Cooling” and how we were all going to freeze to death. I got scared and my dad got pissed at the couple for talking about it in front of a child. That is my one memory from Disney.

      1. Good thing for photos! I remember Space Mountain and how it had a bunch of animatronics after the ride was over. The one in CA never had that. Been so long I have gone to the FL park I have no idea if they are still there.

    2. The real reason Tony hasn’t updated the site is he’s been stuck standing in line waiting to meet Mickey Mouse.

That’s a memory I had as a child. We stood in this line for over an hour, thought it was going to be the coolest ride ever or something really cool.. it ended up being just Mickey, to take your picture with him. After standing in line that long, my dad didn’t even bother to buy the picture cause he complained it cost too much. Sigh!

        1. So send me your pull list for the next 6 months.. so the CHU community can send you your comics since you’ll literally be broke for the next 6 months.. ๐Ÿ˜›

  3. Welcome to Florida! If your in Hernando County let me know. Come on by and say hi. Enjoy your vacation. Good time to go. Shouldn’t be too crazy this time of year.

    1. I need to start taking people up on that. Just randomly pop in. I have super long creepy beard going on so it will be “who is the creeper outside at the door”. Also my kids eat a lot. Stock the fridge. Lol. Cheers and thanks.

  4. I just came back from Dublin, Ireland. Nice country, nice people and extremely nice, cool weather – Very enjoyable.
But I can attest that being back in a daily productive routine (such as maintaining a website) is a welcoming feeling.
Hope you enjoyed your trip, Anthony ! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Glad you’re getting a well-deserved vacation (mine starts on Friday!). I hate flying too, especially in storms. I was a passenger in a Cesna during a night storm off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard once. Whew! Used to have to drink a few to be able to board a plane after that! Haha. But you’re a superhero to brave it for your family. That’s awesome. Hope you all have a great time!

  6. white knuckled here myself! I hate flying. Recently took the family back east to Boston. We hit some serious turbulence on the way. Had the kids so I had to pretend to be brave. Well done Tony! Hope you have/had a great vacation.

  7. I live in Miami, only a few hours away from Disneyworld, so we go there often as my wife and I both love it. Now they have some awesome Marvel stuff in the Vinylmation store at Downtown Disney. Look out for that. Also, you will have to go back once they finish with their Star Wars expansion. Have fun!
