Booster Gold Blue Beetle Movie in the works.

DC’s favorite “buddy cop” team, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle are getting their own movie

From Tracking Board.

Booster Gold’s first appearance in 1986’s Booster Gold #1 is popping up in price with the news.

Booster Gold and Blue Beetle, two DC Comics superheros that have long been rumored to appear in either an upcoming film or TV show, are now being groomed for a team-up feature from Warner Bros. Sources exclusive to The Tracking Board can now confirm that Greg Berlanti, the force behind the successful DC comics TV series Arrow and The Flash, will be heavily involved with this one, set to direct and executive produce. Sarah Schechter will also executive produce, while Julia Spiro will oversee for the studio.

In a massively different approach from Warner’s current slate, the film will team the two heroes together in what’s being pitched as a superhero buddy cop movie. Comedy is the emphasis here, which is a stark contrast to the other titles in DC’s Cinematic Universe, breaking the mold of the uber serious and grounded Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

  1. Such great news at the wrong time lol. I sold my copys of Booster Gold #1-6 in VF-NM for a little under $20. Lol

    1. These things happen. If it makes you feel better even though BG #1 will go up a bit it will never put anyone’s kids through college. You probably missed out on $20 or $30. Not crushing.

  2. Some key comics might be Booster Gold 1 (1986), Infinite Crisis 5 (2005 debut new Blue Beetle) and Justice League 4 (1987 first blue-gold teamup)? Best stories of duo were in Justice League International comics.

  3. If it’s going to be a buddy team-up they are probably going for the Ted Kord version of Blue Beetle. Captain Atom #83 (first app Ted Kord) from Charlton should see a boost.

      1. Everything I’ve seen says Ted Kord which would only make sense. He and Booster were a comic duo in the Justice League runs.

      2. Yeah the article circulating cites it as a Jamie/Booster team-up book. I imagine the cover a for IC #5 could potentially become pretty popular since it’s not only the first Jamie BB, but also his first cover appearance.

  4. Although I think Ted Kord would make more sense I think they will use Jaime Reyes. Just my gut feeling…and my gut is getting bigger the closer I get to middle age. He his newer and will appeal to a large Hispanic Demographic. Also, these two characters are not very well know outside the comic book community so making Jaime Reyes play off of Booster Gold the same way Ted Kord did would be an easy thing to do on screen with the majority of the viewers asking themselves “who are these guys?” the same way they did for “Guardians of the Galaxy”. With that I would pick up IC #5 before Captain Atom #83… CA#83 was pretty limited online and all the cheap-ish copies are long gone with people now asking $200 to $300 for a VG copy. Unless you find one at last weeks prices don’t buy until an official announcement is made. As for IC #5 the regular cover can still be found as of writing this from $3 to $5 easily with the “Jaime Reyes, Jim Lee” cover at a low risk $7 to $12. If it turns out to be Ted the $200 to $300 asking price for a VG book will still be a bit high, but if it turns out to be Jaime Reyes, than the $3 to $12 will look like a huge bargain. I didn’t have those so I picked up one of each cover just in case. Never got the CA#83, but years ago did pick up a nice “Blue Beetle Charlton”#1 for cheap. Should have picked up the CA#83 when I had the chance. Oh well. Just how it goes.

    1. Also, looking on Ebay there is a German Variant of issue #5 that is limited to 777 copies. If it turns out to be Reyes in the movie, even though a non US release, this book could get super hot with such a small print run. The one on Ebay is at $69 with a best offer option but that seems very high to me.
