Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery 10/28/15

Each Week hundreds of new books hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones that have the best chance of heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 10/28/15:

Big week, good week. Lets get to it.

The New Image #1
Black Magick #1 Greg Rucka’s new supernatural book. Rucka has a good following and the previews for the book have looked awesome. Detective Rowan Black works robbery/homicide for the Portsmouth PD, but her greatest mystery is the truth about herself… both who she has been, and who she will become. Yet there are others in Rowan’s world with very long memories, and the power that one person holds, another will always covet. PLUS, each issue also features an all-new work of original fiction by GREG RUCKA! A new gothic-noir ongoing series about legacy, destiny, redemption…and the price of magic.

The One with the Media Deal
Welcome to Showside #1: We spotlighted this one way back in July. This one is sold out in many online retailers already and could be hard to come by in smaller shops. There are copies of Welcome to Showside #1 staring at cover price on eBay though. With a TV show coming and a potential for a small print run, this could be a great one to pick up.

The Halloween Pick of the Week
Wes Craven’s Coming of Rage #1– Sad we lost Wes Craven recently. He was co-writing the series. Looking forward to a good horror story from a master.

Small Press Gem
Henchgirl #1– Expect a really small print run on this. The book has a lot of buzz already. Worth checking out (if nothing else support the small press). Check out the comic that IO9 calls ‘A terribly fun read’!

The Pick of the Week
Self Storage #1– No doubt after last weeks Sunflower #1 this one is on the watch list. Copies are sold out at most online stores. Recent Self Storage #1 sales have been going as high as $14.99 already. I have read it when I picked up early copies back at NYCC. It is a good story.

That is it for us this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.
