What’s up CHU, Mel V back with another great week of comics and variants. Variants do carry risk, some go up, some go down, but as long as you are buying art that you like, you can’t go wrong.
Here is what I am feeling this week!
Captain Marvel #1 Adam Hughes Variant– This is no Surprise Adam Hughes hits yet another home run. Already fetching 60 bucks on Ebay..will it sustain its heat or will the under cutters fizzle it out? I say it gets hotter. Let me get your thoughts
Devolution #1 Cover C Incentive Jae Lee Virgin– Devolution is a book that will be on a lot of speculators list this week and rightfully so. The cover from the legendary Jae Lee looks amazing I do, prefer the virgin cover over the black and white though, but you cant go wrong with either
Hangman #2 Mike Huddleston– Woahhh This cover is CRAZY ..So much madness its beautiful, one for the PC
Man Plus #1 Cover B Ryan Stegman– Sleeper indy pick of the week ..Cover B Sold out at Midtown, all covers sold out at TFAW and Mycomicshop. Could this be our 1st big indie book of the week? A lot of people think so. Keep an eye out for this one tomorrow
Ms Marvel #3 Babs Tarr– Babs did a fantastic job on this cover capturing the playful side of Ms Marvel
Poison Ivy Cycle of Life and Death Cover B Terry Dodson– This book is starting to heat up in the after market only a few on Ebay, this is going to be in a dogfight with the Hughes variant for Captain Marvel for Variant of the week

Nice pics Mel. That Terry Dodson cover looks sick. Might try to find it for the wife. Just don’t like the arms on poison ivy. They look to manly. One of the reasons why I don’t draw women lol.
I dunno about the CM #1. His Spider-Gwen covers definitely cooled, Convergence Catwoman fizzled out, and the A-Force cover has done so-so. From a long-term perspective, I don’t know if this one has legs. Might be good for a quick flip though.
Selling for 50-60 $
Alright, alright, alright. I picked up a copy for $8.00! I can live with that.
I bit on the CM simply because it has good long term potential with a possible captain marvel movie. If it doesn’t heat up past 50-60, there should still be sustained interest because of the movie.
this book is a good keeper because of the great cover but i’m skeptical about the long-term potential of all but a handful of cappy-the-marv/carol danvers books. by the time the movie actually starts production and the hype train gets rolling they probably will have already rebooted the title like twelve more times so i think it most likely that the #1’s and variants arriving closest to when the movie comes out are the only capt marv books that will hold interest/value.
..aside of course from the silver/bronze age keys (msh 13, capt marv vol 1 #18, ms marvel vol 1 #1), avenging spider-man #9, and captain marvel vol 6 #1. also honorable mentions: avengers vol 3 #4 (1st warbird) and x-men vol 1 #164 (1st binary).
Funny about Hangman #2 apparently they changed the cover to the Variant
definitely pays to get to the lcs early if they carry variants. picked up the cm hughes cover for $8 this morning! they also had a copy of the legend of wonder woman (great read) nguyen variant from last week, which i was surprised to see at first, but it had a bunch of spine bends so i passed it off to a guy in the store who i overheard asking about it.
