In other news….
Thanks to DrunkWookie (and to Emiliano B. who also sent me this)
Apparently, the first action figure variant of a character who has NOT appeared in a Star Wars movie is coming down the pike!
Inspector Thanoth (first appearance in Darth Vader #8) will be gracing the cover of Darth Vader #20. What’s more exciting is that tfaw is currently listing action figure variants for #21, and #22, without images. Are these also going to be comic-exclusive characters? Doctor Aphra?! Triple Zero!?
Darth Vader to date has only had a handful of action figure variants unlike the main Star Wars title. To my count: Darth Vader #1 Darth Vader action figure variant (makes sense; and Vader Down #1 midtown comics shared retailer checklist action figure variant (arguably not even a Darth Vader issue).

Here’s the weird thing: this cover is the first time I’ve noticed that Thanoth is black!
Because of the series’ dark tone, I never noticed before:
Weird optical illusions going on. Pleasant surprise, though.
These are aliens, in a galaxy far far away.. I don’t even consider them human so I wouldn’t consider him black, gotta find his race from whatever planet he’s from. 😛
Please pardon my ignorance, but, why is it that it’s being sold for $6.99 (pre-discount, of course)?
Sadly I have no idea.
The cover price on this issue is $4.99.
I’m not sure how that gets you to $6.99, but cover price is a dollar higher than normal.
When does this come out ?
Midtown is listing a Darth Vader #23 Action cover as well in their pre-orders without a cover photo yet.
