SDCC Preview Issues in Comic Shops

Here is a cheap flip. Free actually. Several free previews that were the rage of SDCC are in shops. While prices have come down on them, they still are flippable and free.
young animals
Out this week in stores was Young Animal Promo Ashcan. The promo was selling for upwards of $60. The prices have come down since then as the copies in store are identical to the ones given out.
harley promo
Harley Quinn and Suicide Squad Promo Issue was selling for upwards of $20 just 3 days ago. These were sent to stores last week. Most recent copies have been selling for about $3.This is the same Jim Lee covered issue that was given out at SDCC.
briggs
DC is not the only company that has done this, Dark Horse did this as well. Briggs Land Promo was another darling of SDCC Freebies, selling for up to $60. Prices have come down since buy if you can find them they are flippable.

  1. That Harley isn’t even an SDCC book. Diamond had those for sale for 35 cents a piece for retailers as “appreciation” for being a Harley customer. They ARE NOT SDCC VARIANTS.

    1. I understand that they are not “SDCC variants” per Se however DC was apparently giving copies out there and people were selling them immediately from the con. They were going for crazy prices as well. I think DC actually announced they would be making them available at SDCC and comic shops a few days later.

      1. My caps were a warning for people not to buy at inflated prices. the DC book especially. Briggs Land will be the rarer one, as they were gone preview night and then let out a few on Friday. The line was wrapped around the booth so I did not wait for them. I did not even stop at the DC booth.

        1. Ray, I know where you were coming from on that. I agree with you to not buy them at current prices, but if you find them for free and plop them on line, you will get nibbles.

  2. Cool man! I grabbed two of the Young Animals yesterday not thinking anything of them at the time. Now I want to find the Harley Quinn book.

  3. Thanks for info. I have Harley & Young Animals coming from Midtown as they had them up a week or two ago. Didn’t know they were offered at SDCC and had no idea about the Briggs Land. There’s a seller on eBay selling them for $8.99 + Shipping. I grabbed a copy as I just realized it’s being developed for AMC

  4. Did y’all see the yoga hosers comic? My local had one so I grabbed it. Think it will be flippible?

      1. It was with yesterday’s books for some reason. I think it was some sort of giveaway at sundance. There’s no price on it and they had a barcode on the bag to scan it. Hopefully it blows up. For 10$ I’ll gamble.

  5. On the topic of SDCC exclusives – Hillbilly 1 and Betty & Veronica 1 variants have been off the charts.
I can say this now since I have no more issues remaining and the multiples I had sold immediately for quite alot.
I’m somewhat surprised this is rarely discussed on any boards, facebook, spec sites, etc. too much

    1. Most of the lack of talk about the books is because most people do not make it out to SDCC so it is hard to grab copies affordable enough for flipping. Nice pick ups though and congrats on the sales.

      1. Understood. … the SDCC Hillbilly 1 may have legs if the trend if increasing exposure, discussion, and praise continues on the title

        1. Very much so. Baltimore comic con is supposed to have an exclusive for it as well I am wondering if it’s the same cover or different the cover is going to be for the retailer appreciation breakfast and retailer summit which I will be attending
