Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 10/26/16:
Huge week this week, coming off two smaller weeks for me this could be a wallet buster.
Returning Favorites
Seven To Eternity #2 – The recent spec favorite has been selling well on eBay. The second issue usually sees a drop off in print run numbers. The Second Print of the first issue comes out this week as well. Both might be worth picking up.
American Monster #5 – The shipping schedule on this Aftershock book has been a little slow, but it is worth the wait.
Frostbite #2 – one of two returning favorites from Joshua Williamson on the list. Williamson is a great writer who can cover diverse books. Also look out for Birthright #20 out this week.
Descender #16 – Great book and media option (when are we going to hear more on that one) but still a great read al the same. Dynamic and beautiful art as well. It is the total package.
Image Plus #7 – These will be huge if more titles that premiere in them get optioned. Also, Negan is a huge draw and his origin is explored in the first 12 magazines. For $1.99 it is a great pick up. A preview of Charles Soule and Ryan Browne’s Curse Words
Halloween Goodies
It is October and Halloween is just around the corner. Space Goat has two more Evil Dead 2 releases with Evil Dead 2 Dark Ones Rising #2 and Evil Dead 2 Revenge of Jack the Ripper One Shot out this week.
Small Press Gems
Wolfcop #1 – I have been looking forward to this off beat comic based on the equally off beat movie. Expands on the film universe with Wolfcop fighting bigger monsters (than the budget of a movie would allow.) This one is sold out on some of the bigger web stores and only one on eBay. This one could be interesting as a spec play.
Skeptics #1 – Black Mask’s latest book seems very interesting. Some of their recent releases have not appealed to me but this one looks good.
A stylish, political adventure about a pair of hip, clever teens who fool the world into believing they have superpowers. It is the 1960s.
The Pick of the Week
Spookhouse #1 – Just in time for Halloween, Eric Powell is back with another new series from his self-published Albatross Exploding Funny Book line. Worth the look, will sell out quick, and since it is more “all ages” will not have a huge print run.
That is it for me this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.
Good call on spookhouse. I got my eye on Tales From the Crypt 1 coming out on November 2nd. Figured that would be up your alley too Tony.
