  3. What happened to our Wednesday forum comment gang? Come on people… talk some more.. am I gonna have to offer up some special comic or variant to get people to comment?
    Fine then.. if this article reaches at least 114 comments or more, I’ll pick out a comic to giveaway randomly to anyone who contributes an actual comment, it’s got to be more than just your name in the comment. 🙂

    1. I will match Poyo’s book with another book. Something good too. Poyo’s book is a signed book. Mine is a variant of a popular character that you have had to go to a convention in another country. Interest piqued?

      1. I think that comments on the open forum should also count for giveaways. Or get rid of the name only comments giveaways and incorporate them all into the open forum.

        1. I once had the entries into the giveaways as a form and the names and all were emailed to me but it was too much to keep track of. The way I draw the winner would make it too difficult.

      1. I got my tickets to Rogue One for Tuesday after Christmas.. at the luxury iPic theater.. where you get that big nice comfy recliner, a blanket and pillow.. It’s gonna be nice!
        I think All Out War will begin at the end of this season.. before the summer break.

      3. I can’t wait for Rouge One but realistically it will be tough for me to make it to the theater before the New Year. Unless I can bring my 3 kids. That’s still to be determined depending on just how dark it really ends up being.

    Just wanted to say that based on earlier comments from members, I got:
    White #1
    Atoll #1 Blindbox Color variant
    Both comics are very good reads and I would highly recommend picking them up if you can!
    Atoll #1 are extinct at retail in my next of the woods and I’ve seen regular covers closing online at $17-$19.

  8. Was going to pick up the ASM Renew #2 Campbell variant but got to thinking that after ebay fees, it wasn’t worth my time for just a $13 profit. Bought myself the WD #100 Artists Proof edition instead, figure I’ll enjoy that more.
    Strain Mister Quinlan was my only new book today, it fills the void in between seasons.
    Picked up 3 copies of Fish Eye #1, grabbing a few of every Scout Comics 1st issue. One of them is bound to hit.
    Hit up one of my spots on Monday that just bought 10 longboxes and saw absolutely nothing that was more than a $5-10 book in there. I’ll probably grab the Hughes Wonder Woman issues when they hit their dollar bin, none were key money ones though

  9. I’m still on the hunt for a Savage #1 1:50. It’s tough being a Valiant fan and not being able to be a completist when books like this come out. There were some people last week saying they had multiple copies so let me know if you want to pet with your copy!

  12. Slightly disappointed that my LCS got the subscription cover and one of the RI covers for Batman/TMNT Adventures 2 but didn’t get any copies of the cover featuring Harley. Was kind of sweet that the same store was giving away copies of the 25-cent Red Sonja 0 issue for free. The shop owner bought 100 copies to get the ratio JSC cover.

    1. Kind of a cool promo. Giving away the .25 cent comics. Give them to your subscribers and you could probably hook up most of your customers for around $25 for a smaller to average store.

      1. I picked up 2 copies of Black #3 uncensored variant. I checked tfaw and they still have copies for cover price. My question is should I dump this comic now or hang on for a couple more weeks?
        ebay has only sold two so far or $7.99
        I see that people usually follow tv shows or movies for their signals when to sell. So I’m not sure what to do with this comic.

        1. If you bought at cover price, my suggestion would be, sell one that possibly covers the cost for both copies. Hold onto the other in case it heats up later on. If it doesn’t, you still lost nothing as the first sale paid for the comic in hand.

    2. No not at all wrong. Open forum. Feel free to ask question, rant, complain, talk bad about wives, as long as there are no politics it’s all good.

      1. I sold a set of Black #1 & #2 about two weeks ago, and that buyer asked for 2 copies of uncensored #3 to go with his order. His #3’s paid for my copy. ?

    3. This question in particular is a difficult one. Black Mask is an equation full of variables right now. They keep putting out new #1s, but not delivering follow up issues for a lot of their series; see Young Terrorists, 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank, etc. Young Terrorists 2 did drop today, but it’s been upwards of 14 months since issue 1, which was delayed by something in the range of 6 months to begin with.
      Black, on the other hand has been a Black Mask book that has consistently published on time. Albeit, this has been for three issues.
      This could go either way at this point. If you don’t have any sentimental attachment to the issue, dump one to cover costs, and save the other for the slim snowball’s chance in hell that it becomes a heavy hitter variant.
      There are no sure things with Black Mask any more unless it’s a 50 copy Big Con variant.

      1. I’ve still got a copy of the CHU Limited to 250 variant Black #1 on the Bay, it’s been re-listed but not a lot of love for it! May have to drop the price by a few quid to shift it I reckon. I can also see Black Mask going either way right now.

    Hell Yeah I am looking forward to Rogue One: I’ll be watching it in about 4 hours!! Got myself a ticket for the midnight showing, though if I hadn’t received an email from cinema clarifying the actual night I would have turned up 24 hours late lol
    I haven’t even watched last weeks WD, let alone this weeks, I am starting to get bored with it. Never thought I’d hear myself say that, but this season has been so weak. However, everyone please keep watching so I cam make money off my comics!
    Thanks for the extra giveaway guys, I am of the opinion that you should link it to the open forum in the future. It takes a few minutes to list a few comics you get each week or make a comment on someone else’s post, I know we all have busy lives, but this IS a community, one that as a newbie to this speculating game you hardened professionals have welcomed me with open arms. So cheers!

  15. With the introduction of Liz Allen in Spider-Man Homecoming. Do you think Molton Man has a good chance to make the big screen?

    1. Kind of a slow week for me. On top of my subs, I did grab the rebirth holiday special just for kicks.
      I also managed to find
      -Deadly class 1 2nd print at cover (which magically sold for $10 an hour after I listed it)
      -2x Darth Vader 3 4th print @3.50(some chucklehead bought both the copies I listed also within hours)
      I truly wonder who buys these books sometimes. Oh well.
      I need to clear out some boxes of spec that are meh. Thankfully though I had some sort of magic wisdom and grabbed every copy I could find of seven to eternity (though I stupidly skipped the blank) the day it came out, and I’m gunna ship them out to cbcs soon. I’m on a streak of getting back 9.8’s, so I’m praying that goes well. They did tear me apart on henchgirl 1 though. A solid 9.6 came back as a 9.2 (I think the grader had a fight with his wife that day lol). I’m going to hold them. I think everyone has the same idea, and it’s thusly inflating the price, but I have a good feeling about these. Still kicking myself for selling one for $15 a week after release tho…

      1. I also managed to grab the 3x set of hulk 1 from hall of comics (the 181 swipe with deadpool eating popcorn) before it sold out. Praying that goes well. For my not selling comics to the masses job, I run a cinema pub (akin to an Alamo drafthouse), and I have to screen our print of rogue one at midnight

    1. I’ve set my mind on building an ASM legacy collection. He was my favourite hero as a kid and subsequently have almost every issue from 301-400 already. I picked up about 40 books from an online store that was having a 25% sale on all stock. I live about a 45 minute drive and can go pick them up to avoid shipping costs. Managed to get The Atoll #1 at a new shop I visited on Saturday. I still may have 3 copies on order. My LCS diamond rep told them they A had a problem with shipping that book last week. Fingers crossed that they show up. Today I got:

      Also picked up Prelude to Planet Hulk, World War Hulk, WWH X-Men TPBs…finished Planet Hulk and loved it. First Hulk stuff I’ve ever really read. I really like the character. Tried some awesome Hulk, don’t like, hoping the new Jen Hulk book is good. No good Hulk stories make me angry.

      1. Oh, I also picked up 2 copies of Rockstars #1, I’m holding these for a bit I think. I sold a bunc of 7 to Eternity #1s when they first came out and regret not keeping one for myself. Settling for a 2nd print. Also picked up Shadows on the Grave, holding for a long term spec along with 2 copies of Motor Girl #2 that make sets with two #1s I have.

    I talked to my main shop last week and I got the one per store Dr. Aphra #1 waiting for me in my pullbox, I’ll make the trip and clean it out next week. This past weekend I managed to get a Dollface Baltimore variant.

    2. Damn. I know where one is, but it is at one of the more expensive stores in my area. Buddy wants $80 for it. I picked up a 1:25 for $10 the other day and have a Frankies Comics variant I got coming in the mail next week. I nice, cheaper compromise for myself.

      1. I can do $25 every now and then, but my limit for a “floppy” is $35. I just can’t see myself going any higher than that.

  24. I just went completely off the rails this week and bought way too many books. My LCS has a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale so it helps, but still. I dropped a chunk on the JSC RNV variant (Because I like JSC and I like Spider-Man. I don’t care if you don’t like JSC, keep your snide comments to yourself!), the JSC Red Sonja #0 and the Aja Hawkeye variant. Then all my “regular” buys on top of that. I’ve gone nuts on eBay the last week AND buying a bunch of the new store variants that have come out (JSC Gamora, JTC Qui Gon, Dell Otto Venom). It’s time I took a break from all the craziness. I need to sell some books to make up for the expenses!

    1. They’re $10 though, not that awesome cover price they sell signed copies for from time to time. But still not a bad deal.

  26. Who buys these $10 Christmas Special books that Marvel likes to put out. There was a massive stack at my LCS. Are these just for the shops to sell significant others when they walk blindly into the shop at the holidays? How many of you have been excited to get one of these jems under the tree?

    2. I almost bought the Simpsons special that came out but I figured I could wait another month and snag it during Midtown’s 40% or more off sale they’ll likely have. $9.99 for my bathroom reads is kind of pricey..

  27. Well just got out of Rogue One and got to say it was thoroughly enjoyable! No spoilers from me, but some interesting characters turn up, the beginning is a surprise, Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso is brilliant, another strong female character for my daughter to relate to and Alan Tudyks K-2SO is fantastic comic relief in a different way to past droids. Any way, nearly three Am here, off home and bed, May The Force Be With You!

    2. My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told her Jyn Erso.. the real one, alive and in person. I don’t think I’m getting her though.. 🙁

  28. Sorry for the late reply. Been working like a slave lately. Haven’t had a day off for 3 weeks now. And this is the first time I am off early. The past 3 weeks I go to work and everyone is asleep. I come back and they are still asleep lol. But finally got of early and this is what is waiting for me at the LCS.
    Batman TMNT adventures #2 ( for my little one).
    Atol #1 ( my shop got them this week instead of last due to some delay from Dimond).
    Reborn #3 ( only reason why I will keep getting it is for that Capullo art).
    Silk #15 ( for the wife)
    Couple of questions I have. Is deadpool back in black any good? I skipped it cuz Bunn isn’t writing it. But wanna give it a shot if it’s good. Also Motor girl? Is that any good?
    The only book that I wanna runt about from black mask is Transference. I was injoying that book and issue 3 never came out. Will wait till #3 comes out before I buy another black mask book. Unless it’s a CHU exclusive.
    As for Star Wars Rouge One, I cannot wait to see it. Most likely won’t happen till after the holidays. I asked my little one if he wanted to go with me and see it, he started to jump with excitement and kept saying “yes! Yes!” LOL. ” The Force is strong with this one” (in yoda’s voice). I asked my oldest ( 9 years old) he’s like meh sure why not lol. I don’t know how many of you guys have been here for the beginning, but I’ve been trying for year for my oldest to love Star Wars. He likes to watch the movies and all but isn’t into them like my little one. My little one will be watching the phantom menace and will take out his lightsaber and fight Darth Maul LOL.

  29. I picked up an unhealthy stack of books today.
    Detective, Action, Superwoman, Wonder Woman, Clean Room. Is the DC Christmas Special worth picking up?
    TMNT (and I managed to find some of the earlier IDW issues at cover so that was a nice bonus)
    Reborn – is this an ongoing? If so, I will likely drop. I can’t get into it. That said, I actually liked Mayday 1 and picked up the second issue today. Hopefully it doesn’t suck.
    Also got Moonshine, Drifter, Fuse, Spawn, and Rockstars.
    From Marvel: Jessica Jones, OML, Spider Man, and IvX. I really didn’t want to get sucked into yet another “big event” but Josh Williamson is writing, and I can’t remember the last book of his I didn’t like, so…
    Oh, and Hillbilly came out today. Next week is the 3rd issue of 4 Kids Walked into a Bank. Finally. Still going to go with the trades from this point on anything that Black Mask does. Kind of hard to remember the story six months (or longer) after the first issue.
    I also received my Dr Strange omnibus in the mail today. Hoping to get my son interested in these Ditko/Lee stories. One of these days I’m going to find something he likes to read. He loves the Flash and Legends of Tomorrow tv shows, but he didn’t care for the Flash Silver Age trade that I gave him. Any other suggestions on how to get him interested (he’s in his late teens).

  32. Right now, excluding Tony and myself, 22 different people have commented.
    So the odds are 1:22 and if we pick a winner and exclude them on the next drawing (since Tony is giving away a book as well), your odds increase to 1:21. Unless more people comment before we do the random name drawing.. so now you don’t want more comments, the more comments from new people decrease your odds of winning. 😛
