Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 3/8/17

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we feel have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 3/8/17:
Small week for me, like I said in the video. Not many must have books but definitely some good ones and flip opportunities for Wednesday Warriors.

Harrow County #21 – One of my favorite horror reads for a while. Has been optioned. I know some people hate the art but I love it. The story is top notch too but that is to be expected from Cullen Bunn
Low #16 – Rick Remender is on fire lately. Just need the official word on the option and this book could take off. Great story and art on it too. This one has a Jim Mahfood variant so that is the one I am going to grab, love his art.
The Mummy #4 – The Hammer Line from Titan had a good start with this book, features a female mummy, in the vein that the new Tom Cruise movie will. Pretty good read and art.
The New #1
Redline #1 – I will be honest, the solicitation on this one sold it for me. Anything poop related has got to be funny.

The near future-ish. A bomb takes out a city block on Harrison Station. The media rush to blame the local terrestrials (re:aliens,) however Superintendent Denton Coyle has a feeling that it may not be so simple… or maybe that feeling is Coyle’s hangover gut bomb. It’s unclear… like a 50/50 shot, it’s a mistake or explosive diarrhea. Maybe it’s both? In other words, it’s yet another Tuesday on Mars.

THE Low Price Gamble
Deathstroke #14 – Bill Sienkiewicz regular cover. For $2.99 what do you have to lose? Hoping this gets the attention that Death of Hawkman got last week as this is a great cover.
The “Everyone Else is Going to Get It, But Do Not Miss Out” One
All New Wolverine #18 Mattina “Venomized” Variant– Sure, this is going to have a crazy print run. The Regular cover may even be more rare to find. But with the gorgeous Mattina cover on it, you do not want to pass it up. Listings for above cover price on eBay already.
The Small Press Gem
Street Tiger #1 – despite what Poyo may say, I love Amigo comics. Great story and art, tiny print runs. All it takes is a little spark and these kind of books can go off.
The Small Press Pick of the Week
Grass Kings #1 – Boom studios has a first look deal with Paramount. The scoop up titles and option them. This could easily be one of them. Boom doesn’t have giant print runs, but big name creators could skew that a bit
Pick of the Week
Pussycats Sex Drugs and the Impossible #1 Cowgirl Variant – Sold out at Midtown, Sold out at TFAW could be a good quick flip. Keep your eyes peeled for Mycomicshop as they may release them around 8PM East Coast. None Currently listed on eBay so this could be a selling opportunity.

And in case you missed this weeks video, here it is again.

  1. Are you mixing up Cannibal with Moonshine Tony? I don’t recall hillbillies and mobsters in Cannibal.. 😉

    1. Too little sleep. Cannibal is the awesome book from Image that has the re-imaging of Zombies. One hell of a read but yes, I was incorrect.

      1. I was enjoying both Cannibal and Moonshine but dropped them.. was gonna likely pick up the TPB to read from this point on… monthly pulls are getting ridiculous..

  2. I could see the wolverine venom mattina heating up a ton, I am shocked that midtowncomics still hasn’t sold out yet, though. This isn’t exactly flying under the radar is it? I wonder how many have sold so far.

    1. They could buy as many as they wanted, it’s not a ratio’d variant so they likely loaded up on them.

          1. I can relate, Marvel came over and stole all my underwear and socks when I said, “Secret Empire,” didn’t interest me at all. Now I’m stuck wearing swim-trunks under my jeans.
