Wednesday Open Forum

Wednesday
Wednesday, the best day of the week, new comic book day. It is like your birthday in the middle of each week (well, one where you buy your own presents.)
We open things up to hear from you. A free for all.
The 165th edition of the open forum!
So what do you think of the Disney buying Fox news? Mega evil take over or great for fans?
As always we also want to hear about your weekly pickups.
So, What were your pick ups?
What had disappeared off the shelves?
What was sitting on the shelves?
What back issue deals did you grab?

  1. Looks like a slow week in here this week! Its already mid Wednesday morning and there’s only one comment!
I’m sure everyone is bushy for the holidays!
Question: Does anyone have a date that the Pickle Rick Pops are releasing? When they were announced it said Dec. I haven’t looked online for a date yet, figure someone here knows! As of last Sat. they still have not been released here in Canada. Thanks!
    Today I am picking up:
    Batman #37
    Dark Nights Metal #4
Deadpool v Old Man Logan #3
    Invincible #143
    Justice League #35
    Nightwing #35
    Ninja-K #2
    Spectacular Spider-man #298
    Spread #24
    Star Wars: Dr. Aphra #15
    Superman #37
    The Mighty Thor #702
    The Wild Storm #10
    Unholy Grail #5
Also, if my shop has them and doesn’t realize they’ve been recalled: X-Men Grand Design Piskor Variant and Head Lopper #8 for my recalled comics collection.
Have a great Holiday everyone! See you on the other side!

      1. Brennan speaks true, people are starting to travel and get all drunk-like for the Holidays….Me, I was just lazy.

      1. Ok so it looks like the one with the screw weapons is Jan. I’m seeing the 13th and the battery laser one is Feb??

  2. At an antique mall this week I found:
    Amazing Spider-Man #301(!), #307, #311, #313, #314, #315(!), #318, #321, #322, #324 (all easily 8.0 or better)
    For. Sixty. Cents. A. Piece.
Boy oh boy, was my spider-sense tingling.

    1. I LOVE the antique malls and flea markets for this very reason. I got a whole bunch of Cable key issues at a new booth at the flea market last summer for $1-2 each!

      1. I would like them as well, however, more times than not they have books over price as opposed to underpriced so it is hitter mess in my area

      2. In my area there are there are quite a few antique malls and like Anthony they have a lot of books no one wants that are way over graded and over priced.

      3. Yeah I just checked out a new antique market down the street. They had pretty much the comics you would get in those comic book value bags you could buy from retailers. They did have both 1st and 2nd print of ASM 362 for $55. Glad they had the books but not at that price.

    2. Just awesome! Not even so much because they are worth way more than what you paid (that helps), but that McFarlane run was just so much fun to read way back when!

  3. Dr. Strange #383 was quickly sold at the very large LCS in my area, shortly after opening. May be one to keep an eye on.

    1. I agree. Surprised there has been so little mention of #382. Big winner for me and still selling strong around $15. I expect the same out of #383.

  4. Dr Strange – this is a really cool book ( I am also a fan of the Thanos series as well – Marvel has two hits on their hands – keep an eye out next week for the Thanos Phoenix Cover, my shop said they would not be getting any in)
Adam Hughes – Hellboy – how can you not, I got both the Virgin Sketch and the regular Hughes cover as well
Tales to Astonish – I had to grab the Sorrentino Cover it was just too hard to pass up
    Marvel Two in One
The Realm – I have been a fan of this books since the start and make it out every month to pick this up as soon as it comes out on Wednesdays

    1. I was going to drop Thanos after Lemires run, but decided to keep on once I heard Cates was writing it. Haven’t caught up yet, but intend to soon, and I’ve heard good things. I’m looking forward to The read.

      1. I’m not a big self-titled Thanos books, but I think Cates is going to make it a regular pick up. He did an awesome job.

  5. Reasonable week for me. Treated myself to a few ASM keys for a Xmas gift from me to me. My pick ups this week were:

    Dr. Strange #383 x2
    Aphra #15 40th
Poe #22 40th (can’t wait for these 40ths to be done)

  6. Smallish week in terms of pick ups….
    Hellboy Black and White
    Dr Strange #383
    Dr Aphra #15
    Realm
    Spec pick ups this week
    Dr Strange #382 X2
Action #894 Craig Russell 1:10 variant for $8
    Happy Holidays everyone!

  7. Bigger stack than expected this week. There was one Dr. Strange #382 sitting on the shelf, so I decided to pick it up as a potential flip. No Head Lopper #8, no X-Men Grand Design #1 variant. Lots of Metal. LCS still has their half price + 25% off sale on older books, so I’ll have to take advantage of it while it lasts.
