What up CHUllectors!?! Shawn B., the One Year Later Investigator, back with another One Year Later round up, where we take a look at some of the comics that Anthony, Mel, and Poyo specced on one year ago. Their specs turn out to be quick flips, slow burns, straight up misses, straight up winners and on and on. Sometimes they spec with their hearts out of their passion for comics. Sometimes they spec based on data. And sometimes they spec based off the word on the street. Either way, all their specs appeal to a few or many collectors whether it is due to them having similar taste in writing or art, or just an opportunity for a collector to flip a book and make money to “support their habit”. So, this is our weekly chance to look back at how some of our buys from a year ago are doing today.
Anyone watch Young Sheldon last week? His mother banned him from comics because she found his copy of Watchmen and she didn’t like the naked blue man. Hilarious. Good thing she didn’t read the whole book. I was 13 when I read Watchmen in ’86. That and Dark Knight were my introduction to comics. How could I not be instantly hooked?

Agreed Adam. You going to Boston Comic Con this year?
Typically when there is an artist who makes a legendary run with a book, it’s usually the best one or two that rise to the top when it’s completely based on cover art. Hughes’ Catwoman, Campbell’s Spiderman, Artgerm’s Bargirl, Parillo’s Vamperilla, etc. Which one or two covers would get your votes as long term holds in what is gathering steam as a classic run? My votes would #11 and #30.
Good choices….tough to argue with those…..
quick query, what is up with Isola #1 B cover?
Good question. That thing is on fire.
Wasted Space #1 and b cover sets as well as stand alone issue 1B also selling for above cover price.
I just read Isola last night and it was a great read with outstanding artwork. The B cover is still available at Midtown along with an autographed A cover (limit 1 per customer).
Yeah, gorgeous art. Odd there is not much buzz about it considering the incredibly high asking prices on the bay. My lcs has plenty of both covers just sitting on their shelves like ripe apples.
Because buyers on eBay makes no damn sense at times in why they pay premiums for something they can buy elsewhere for cheaper or retail prices.
