Covrprice.com Runners-Up for 7/18/19

As promised, the Runners-Up list, think of these as the second part of the Top 20. Now then, on to #11-20.

#11 The Walking Dead #192 (Image, 2019). Yep, Rick’s still dead here. It sold 49 copies, had a 7-day trend of 84% and had a high sale of $120 for a CGC 9.8.

#12 War of Realms Omega #1 Yardin Variant –  (Marvel, 2019) is a variant that few are talking about, yet still sold 18 copies, had a 7-day trend of 221% and had a high raw sale of $84.

#13 The Immortal Hulk #20 (Marvel, 2019) is back on the old trend radar and sold 33 copies, had a 7-day trend of 113% and had a high raw sale of $9.

#14 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #51 Artist’s Edition(IDW, 2015) is a BEAST of a book right now. We’re just as surprised as you that this wasn’t in the TOP 10. Other books had bigger trends for the week. Yet, this still sold 14 copies, had a 7-day trend of 267% and had a high sale of $299!

#15 Canto #1 Zucker Variant – (IDW, 2019) Canto might be down, but it’s not out. It sold 37 copies, had a 7-day trend of 94% and had a high raw sale of $28.

#16 Wolverine and Captain America Weapon Plus #1 Bachalo Variant -(Marvel, 2019). While the standard cover is arguably better, this variant sold 27 copies, had a 7-day trend of 131% and had a high raw sale of $10.

#17 No One Left To Fight #1 (Dark Horse, 2019) is still fighting and sold 32 copies, had a 7-day trend of 104% and had a high raw sale of $14.

      1. It sold way more copies than most, if not all, of these books and carries a premium over cover. I don’t know, just thought it odd that it wasn’t in the Top 20.

        1. The price was dropping steadily all week last week thru Tuesday. It may have sold a lot but the have special super secret formulas that decided sales alone didn’t equal hotness enough to make the list. The print run was most likely huge as well so there’s no current shortage of supply with all the stores getting restocked so it might not make it next week either. Prices right now for Buy it Nows between $10 and $12. Auctions at 99 cent with no bids.

          1. I expected prices to decrease as the last shipments from Diamond hit this week. But expect the book to be a steady $20-$25 again in a couple of weeks. I know some hoped it would be a $50+ book but with a print run likely around 100k copies it will take a long time, if ever to reach that (likely never). Back on topic, I thought this list also had to do with number of sales. Guess Not.

            1. No one but covrprice knows the secret formulur.

Even Plankton couldn’t figure out how to break the code….

              1. I even e-mailed them and asked and got a very fast answer back that still doesn’t make it possible to know.

As near as I can tell last night when you first posted there were over 600 copies of the 1st Printing on E-bay. Last night about 12 individual Cover A’s sold between $10 and the $20’s. At that pace we’re looking at about 2 months before E-bay runs out and I’m sure some of those 600+ listing are for multiple copies or have it as an option.

                1. Why would they give up the formula? If they did that, it would be suicide to the success of their own app. They’re never going to give away all the details. For all we know they got a bunch of chimpanzee’s watching eBay sold listings, passing post-it-notes back and forth to calculate what’s hot and what’s not.

                2. Or they have inventory to push. Many times there are random back issues that also pop up on the list. I mean books that have sold a handful of copies that are in the Top 10. It is an interesting list for sure. Perfect for speculators with FOMO.

                3. Most of those back issues are because of news though. I doubt they’re pushing their own inventory. And no one would rush out and buy these books just because they make the list.. unless you like spending lots of money and have lots of money! 🙂

                4. Somewhat true. I am sure if you look at sales of books that are in the $10-$20 range, I am sure you will see quite a number of sales after these lists get posted. Regardless, no rhyme or reason to the list and we are sure to never know how lists are formed.

                5. I don’t think there will ever be a perfect “Top 10 List” I could do an arbitrary list based on what I feel and someone else would disagree.

                1. “I could do an arbitrary list based on what I feel and someone else would disagree.”

Go for it. Noone’s ever going to agree with everything but it would at least be the sites own CHUlist and you can always cross reference it against that one if you like. Maybe even a simple these comics sold the most copies this week list with a high and low raw price for both. I’m sure someone has a way to collect that info easily.

  1. The way FOMO works these days, I’d be willing to be there will always be an uptick of sales on most books listed on these top 10 lists as people who missed the book, hadn’t heard of the book all of a sudden see it on a hot list.

    1. It also creates a bunch of new listings as well. Last week I was aware of Walking Dead 190 getting some interest. This week the price shows as up so I let people know to get their copies up if they wanted to get them moved while the prices are up.

  2. I bought a TMNT51 artist edition, 2 weeks ago for cover price. It arrived yesterday. Stoked.

      1. ?. TMNT is a scarce title in my neck of the woods. I was able to find 3 copies of 51A (1st Jennika), 2 copies of 52A, 1 52B (Jennika Face reveal) and 3 59s (1st Jennika Cover). I sold one set of 51, 52, 59 and have almost doubled my entire Jennika investment in one sale, and am sitting on a bunch of TMNT that is all black from here on out. I truly think this character has staying power and the next generation will not ever know that there was once only four turtles.
