  1. Most of my best memories of reading kids was as a child and the late 70s was a great era in the Star Wars generation along with Shogun Warriors, Micronauts, Devil Dinosaur, Battlestar Galactica etc. In the early 90s I got back into comics big time due to the Planet Of The Apes (1990) series but then wandered into Star Wars again and then into Superman dying and the entire Valiant universe. Some amazing comics back then. Lately I mostly enjoy Image titles like Manifest Destiny.

  2. Current: (no particular order)
    Spread
    Enormous
    Nailbiter
    Southern Bastards
    Letter 44
All time: (also no particular order)
    Spawn
    Hellblazer
    Solar (Valiant)
    Bone
    Preacher

  3. My current top 5:
Peter Panzerfaust, Saga, Enormous, Spawn, Manifest Destiny
My all time top 5 is a tough one,
Some of my all time favorites are Y The Last Man, The Tick, and Preacher.

    1. I froze at 3 all time favorites. That’s a super tough one. If I go from adulthood my currents blend into all time favorites. If I dig into childhood I gave to put up G.I. Joe and the Johnny the Homicidal Maniac for my teenage years.

  4. Top Current:
Nothing too out of the box here…
    1) Southern Bastards (If you aren’t reading this you are missing out)
    2) Nailbiter
    3) Saga
    4) Batman Eternal
    5) Spread -or- Hawkeye
    Top All Time:
    In no order-
    1) Punisher Max (Ennis’ run)
    2) Venom (Rick Remender)
    3) Animal Man (Lemire)
    4) Batman and Robin (Morrison)
    5) Ultimate Spider-man

  5. Ongoing:
    Walking Dead
    Manifest Destiny
    Batman
    Anything Mignola
    Tied with the rest
    All time:
    Uncanny Xmen – Claremont
    Thunderbolts – Ellis
    Hellboy – any
    Walking Dead
    Amazing Spiderman

  6. Top Five Current:
    Saga
    Peter Panzerfaust
    Letter 44
    Manifest Destiny
    Enormous
All time is hard since I hadn’t read comics since I was 9 or 10 which was a long time ago but I’d say Richie Rich, Teen Titans, Hulk, spiderman.

  7. The New Teen Titans Perez/Wolfman run to me is hands down my favorite.Great art and stories. These issues are SO under valued…

  8. Current:
    1. East of West
    2. Rat Queens
    3 Southern Bastards
    4. The Spread
    5. Five Ghosts
    All Time
    1. The Authority volume 1
    2. Planetary
    3. Stormwatch 37-50, volume 2, and Stormwatch Aliens
    4. Sandman
    5. JLA run by Grant Morrison and Mark Waid
    5a. Sin City

  9. Current top 5 I couldn’t live without if I had to drop all others:
    1. Walking Dead
    2. Chew
    3. Rat Queens
    4. Saga
    5. Manhattan Projects
Southern Bastards would get picked up if one of the above ended (which Chew will likely be the first to end soonest).
All time I’ll have to get back on that one.. like Kelly predicted. My wife would kill me if I had 40k long boxes, actually, I’d be all alone, surrounded by boxes of comics and no money as all of my comic book budget would go to alimony and child support. 😉

  10. Current:
    1. Rat Queens
    2. Saga
    3. Orc Stain (hopefully issue 8 is coming out soon)
    4. Sex Criminals
    5. Strangers in Paradise Kids
    All Time:
    1. Sandman
    2. Strangers in Paradise
    3. Love and Rockets
    4. The Tick
    5. King City

    1. Just picked up some early Orc Strains not too long ago. Meant to list them and a bunch if Rat Queen 6’s plus some Jim Zub signed Figments.
I feel bad I left Rat queens off my list now. It is such a good book.

  11. Early Morning Report ..Itty Biddy Bunnies were low on the white cover ..the breaking bad cover was in abundance .Kevin Keller Days of future cover was scant out of 3 major shops i went to maybe like 8 all together..the equalizer variant was rare as well.Jim Henson book was veryyyyy under ordered ..keep ya eyes out on that one ..maybe like 10 in 3 stores ..People starting to Hate the DC 3D covers ..Wolverine Death of #1 Deadpool and Canada covers we pulled from shelves(could be they moved them to another shop)George Perez book sparked up nice convo ..Perez is a good guy hope the book does good .Anyone know teh Print run on that Henson book?

  12. 1. Zero
    2. Rat Queens
    3. Letter 44
    4. Hinterland
    5. Sovereign
    1. Pre-Unity Valiant
    2. Wolverine Vol. 2
    3. BWS Conan
    4. Claremont Uncanny X-men
    5. Walking Dead

      1. I may have committed a sin. Kicking Manifest Destiny to the 6 spot to get the sadly forgotten Chew in the top five.

      2. Yeah, I love Letter 44 and Manifest as well, but if I had to choose my top 5, my list remains the same. Any other got dropped, those two would be in there for sure.

      3. I find myself dropping a lot of new titles around issue 5 or 6 because the novelty of the premise or setting wears off and the story devolves into well trodden formula. Dead Letters, Suicide Risk, and The Illegitimates are recent examples. The new Valiant line fizzled out for me around the 8th or 9th issues. I stuck with Great Pacific until this month. Low is new and compelling and beautifully drawn but seems like a perfect candidate to fall victim to that scenario. Zero and Letter 44 have utterly defied that trend, and Rat Queens does such a great job of embracing fantasy rpg tropes so transparently and irreverently that it feels kind of immune to it. Sovereign is such dense story telling in such a rich and fleshed out world that I think it’s safe for awhile. Hinterkind is doing enough for me to hang in there for another arc but titles like The Spread and Southern Bastards are strong contenders for a top 5 slot going forward. I like the idea of having a title that I stick with through thick and thin for 100 issues like I did when I was younger, and I keep looking for one, but I’m beginning to think that’s just not realistic for me anymore.

      4. The only Valiant I keep picking up is X-O Manowar, long time fan. I was reading Bloodshot but that just got cheesy when they combined it with HARDCORPS. I was reading Harbinger as well, actually up until issue 19 or 20, it was just too much. I understand character development but it was just dragging and dragging to me.

  13. I snagged 3 x Wool #3 from Midtown (it hasn’t been a guarantee I can nab them locally) and Midtown seems to be out of stock already.

      1. When you miss Midtown’s pre/advanced sales, you can usually nab them right when they update their site with next weeks releases.
This time I remembered to add an Image Freebie to my cart. 🙂

      1. Yeah, I thought I had quite the find when I found one only to find out later I could’ve gotten it cheaper on Amazon. Confused me a bit, but at least I can read it without touching the comic books.

      1. Wool 3 should be out next Wednesday – that’s the ship date from Diamond – with 4, 5, and 6 coming out between mid October and Early November.

    1. I got the last 3 Wool #3s. Filled up my cart til it wouldn’t let me, checked out and they were gone. Added a couple Harley 3Ds and the autographed Trees #1. I’m however confused on Enormous. Anyone know when 1 2nd print and/or #4 comes out? My info had next week….

  14. Current Favorite Top Five (with omissions for sure)
    Saga
    Sex Criminals
    Manifest Destiny
    Afterlife with Archie
    Wild’s End
    All Time Top Five
    Pre- issue 100 GI Joe
    Bone (especially Great Cow Race)
    Hellblazer
    Batman
Cherry ( I found them when I was an early teen)
Both of these lists could be different in five minutes.

    1. I thought Enormous #4 comes out 10/01/14. At least according to Midtown’s date for it’s release.

      1. I hope it’s 10/1 I got to be at work early on the 24th ..I was already coming up with lies to be late and ready to be docked lol

        1. Haha. I love having a flexible job. I get to work around 10am every wednesday as I swing by the shops at 9am on my way into work.

    2. I always go by Midtown’s release dates, they seem to be spot on most of the time. I always verify each Wednesday the following Wednesday releases to make sure what’s coming out to update my pull and pick up list.

  16. Just got back from LCS. Took my time getting there b/c of slow week. They still had several Wilds Ends left from last wk and over a dozen of the Jim Henson Witches. Only a couple of Sirens left tho. Pickups:
Solar 5 (like Magnus, have every comic he has appeared in going back through Gold Key)
    Witches 1
    Deadly Class 7
    Savage Hulk 4
    Hulk 8
    Hulk Annual 1
    Sirens
    Supreme Blue Rose 3
    Trees 5
    Wicked & Devine 4
Also picked up their last 2 copies of Rot & Ruin from last week.

    1. My big pick ups were not comic books this week I got the Funco Horror line of 3.5 inch action figures. Jason, Freddy, Mike Meyers, Pinhead. Now displayed proudly on my offices horror / toy bookshelf.

      1. It’s been pretty consistent lately. But MP is certainly the type you can wait to pick up the HC, TPB or the Omnibus (if it ever has one) and read it all in one or two sittings.

      1. You’re good!
        🙂
I can only report man on the street info. They’re coming out of the woodwork for this book today…
        Character has the “wow” factor.

  17. I picked up a Daredevil #8 SK Energy variant for cover. supposed to be one per store. Don’t know if this will blow up, but it will be heavily advertised at NYCC.

  18. Added up the votes, here’s the top popular current favorites by CHU readers.
    1) Saga
Tied for 2) is Manifest Destiny, The Walking Dead, and Rat Queens
Tied for 3) is Spread, Enormous, Southern Bastards
A vote off, of the comics listed. What two books would you select to take the sole 2 and 3 position?
