It’s not surprising that the first full appearance of Modok (or M.O.D.O.K for you purists) landed on the list after the SDCC confirmation of his appearance in ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTAMANIA. What is surprising is that fans get a second chance for more Modok content after the cancellation of his animated series on Hulu. As fans eagerly await this new live-action iteration, the market is busy buying up copies of his first appearance before prices jump even higher. We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 143%, with a high sale of $1,329 for a CGC 9.2 and a Raw FMV of $155.

The SDCC announcements keep on giving! A new 5-issue limited series was announced, based on the team Tiger Division. Naturally, the squad of South Korea’s mightiest defenders’ first full appearance saw an uptick in interest. The cover A, no less! The series from Emily Kim and Crees Lee appears to have some heat and a passionate fanbase. We tracked 26 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 168%, with a high sale of $98.60 for a CGC 9.8 and a Raw FMV of $30.
#8 MARVEL SUPER-HEROES SECRET WARS #1 | MARVEL | 1984
Confirmed! The community has theorized that Marvel was building toward this incredible event with a plethora of extraordinary heroes and villains duking it out on Battleword. And they were on to something. Hot off the uttering of ‘Incursions’ in MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, Marvel announced the next 2 Avengers movies, the second of which had the title SECRET WARS. A dead giveaway, but the potential behind that ambitious undertaking could bring us the likes of the X-Men and more sooner than we anticipated. We tracked 36 copies, had a 7-day trend of 130%, and had a high sale of $700 for a CGC 9.8. Recent sales have hit as high as $1,030 for a 9.8, with the Raw FMV settling at $67.
#7 ADVANCED DUNGEONS & DRAGONS COMIC BOOK #1 | DC | 1988
Love it or hate it, Dungeons and Dragons reached new heights with the release of the first trailer at SDCC. The first comic based on the beloved game greatly benefits from this new update. After the initial distaste of the poorly received 2000 live-action outing, interest in this new content has a low bar to jump over. The overall franchise has spiked in sales due to growing interest in collectible card games, being featured in shows like Stranger Things, and many bored fans forced to stay inside during the pandemic. We tracked 20 copies sold at a 7-day trend of 234%, with a high sale of $400 for a CGC 9.8 and a Raw FMV of $41.
#6 AVENGERS #267 | MARVEL | 1986
Based on Feig’s reveal of the MCU’s Phase 6, this first appearance of THE COUNCIL OF KANGS seems essential moving forward. Kang has been set up to be quite the adversary over the next two phases of the MCU, and the fan base is gearing up for it. That is where Marvel is heading, causing a bump in sales that shook this list in every multiverse. It sold 21 copies, had a 7-day trend of 239%, and had a high sale of $350 for a CGC 9.8 and a RAW FMV of $46.10.
#5 EIGHT BILLION GENIES #1 | IMAGE | 2022
Amidst ALL the content announcements and hot exclusives of San Diego Comic-Con, EIGHT BILLION GENIES continue to hold its ground with 45 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 112%, with a high sale of $65 for a CGC 9.4. The raw FMV is currently at $28.

BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER had some of the most hype behind it heading into SDCC. Marvel delivered a fantastic and emotional trailer, pulling back the curtain on what may transpire. Amongst the massive reveals came a subtler one, the reveal of Aneka, who first appeared in this book as a leader of the Dora Milaje. She also wore what appeared to be the Midnight Angel armor, a possible hint at the division revealed in DOOMWAR #5 to appear in the MCU’s Wakanda. The market just got a lot tighter for this former $5 book. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 411%, with a high sale of $50 for an NM raw copy and an FMV of $33.

Daredevil is back, and the market is feeling it! The appearance of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home gave fans hope that a new series from Marvel would follow. Well, it did, but now that series has a title; Born Again. This book marks the beginning of that fantastic run and the discovery of Daredevil’s true identity by Kingpin. Fans are preparing now in the event Marvel directly adapts this iconic story. We tracked 31 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 369%, with a high sale of $400 for a CGC 9.8 and a Raw FMV of $47.
#2 SPAWN #1 BLANK GOLD FOIL SDCC 2022 (SIGNED) | IMAGE | 1992
Todd McFarlane strikes again! This book was one of the darlings of SDCC, with fans grabbing up this reprint sketch cover (signed or unsigned) of issue #1 in droves. They immediately hit the aftermarket, with both versions selling for over $150 a few hours after their initial release as demand grew from collectors unable to attend. We tracked 37 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 940%, with a high sale of $242 for a raw copy and FMV of $217.
#1 BLACK ADAM #2 RAFAEL SARMENTO VIRGIN FOIL (1:50) | DC | 2022
This stunning 1:50 Sarmento cover features Malik as White Adam, who first appears in this book. Malik, first appearing in issue #1, is a descendant of Teth-Adam, aka Black Adam, and is set to be the inheritor of his powers. The hype around Malik is genuine and well-timed. The recently updated trailer and the soon-to-be-released film received a spike of interest by the Rock appearing in full costume at SDCC. While some collectors hope for White Adam to appear in the film (probably not), he is still a new character in the DC comic verse with a bright future ahead of him. We tracked 21 copies sold, at a 7-day trend of 1,683%, with a high sale of $120 for a raw copy with an FMV of $103.
