TNT changes title of Titans to Outsider

Rick Dunn contributing to comicsheatingup.net brings us this overlooked gem.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, TNT has officially changed the title of the Nightwing-centric “Titans” TV series to “Outsiders.”

In the comics, Nightwing joined the Outsiders (#1, 2003) when the Titans disbanded and the comic was cancelled. The only other character that has been officially confirmed for the show is Starfire, who also joined the Outsiders comic during its 50-issue run in Outsiders #16. Geoff Johns has confirmed that the pilot begins filming in early 2015.

Outsiders #1: 47,750 copies sold (Comichron).

The book also featured the first appearances of Black Lightning’s daughter Thunder and super-strong Grace Choi.

(Additional note: December 2010, Variety reported that the CW hired Diego Gutierrez (TV’s Buffy, Angel, Without a Trace & V) to develop a TV series based on longtime Titan’s member Raven.)

Copies of Outsiders can be found cheap on eBay.

Mycomicshop has all the issues of the book for about $1 each.
