RUNNERS UP
11 Absolute Batman #1 – Nick Dragotta – Regular
After nearly TWO months in the Top Ten, this book has finally fallen onto the Runner-Up list. That doesn’t mean fan excitement has dissipated, only that fewer copies are changing hands, and some other books have snagged the spotlight, at least for now. Still, this book is selling like crazy, but luckily for those still on the hunt, the FMV is beginning to settle in, giving would-be collectors a more concrete jumping-in point. Even though it’s fallen off the Top Ten, expect to see continued conversation surrounding this book within the hobby, especially if the series continues strong. We tracked 115 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3%, with a high sale of $114 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $40.

12 Mark Spears Monsters #1 – Mark Spears – Cover E – Bridezilla
This book kicked off the “Mark Spears Monsters” monster’s fervor right before the spooky season kicked into high gear. It’s been near parabolic in terms of growth for a pretty simple set of circumstances. Fans WANT more of this, the revisiting of the horror genre, delivering iconic entities in a new light, limited availability, and a new player in this game we call comic collecting. It was a crowdfunded book on Kickstarter, which obviously depends on the fans themselves to be made in the first place. Despite using characters that have been around “forever,” it’s not the standard hero of the week venture we get from the big two distributors. It’s a more intimate slice of comics, as the creator is in constant contact with the community and is reachable and down to earth. Thus, fans have been heavily inclined to partake in their work! And suppose you’re on the lookout for projects like this and have a crowdfunding itch. In that case, we touch on that here at CovrPrice in our Crowdfunded article and even highlighted this title in January right here! We tracked nine copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 10% with a high sale of $350 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $179.

13 DC All In Special #1 – Daniel Sampere – Regular – Wraparound
Before the Absolutes took over discussion amongst the community, this book marked the first appearance of the Absolute paragons, which are Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Many fans missed the boat as the discussion was centered on the Absolute Batman title on the horizon and have been scrambling to secure a copy as the issue #1 Absolute books are growing out of reach for the average collector. But don’t fret, as there are copies available as of this writing for covrprice over at Midtown Comics! Shout out to the dear reader who provided the info and is helping guide fellow collectors toward a wanted book. Cheers! We tracked 41 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 160%, with a high sale of $20 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $12.

14 Mark Spears Monsters #1 – Mark Spears – Cover A – Looking Down On You
While the variants for this title have received a lot of attention, this ‘normal’ Cover A version has been doing very well. Featuring all of the classic monsters looking down upon you versus the variants that typically focus on one or two monsters specifically. It’s the ‘snapshot’ book for fans to acquire, as it has all the classic creepy favorites to enjoy! We tracked six copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 10%, with a high sale of $108 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $99.

15 Mark Spears Monsters #2 – Mark Spears – Cover D – EC Comics Homage
Here is a prime example of the variants for this title focusing on a single classic monster. This book features the Wolf Man, but what Mark Spears did so brilliantly is the homage layered in. They didn’t give us just any ole Wolf Man with a foil cover or extra bloody, but one in the classic style, with the cover homaging the great EC Comics of yesteryear. Fans of the golden age horror were immediately keyed in, as that is what EC Comics was known for! We tracked seven copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 126%, with a high sale of $21 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $17.

16 Mark Spears Monsters #2 – Mark Spears – Cover C – Creature Feature
Here we have yet another single monster featured in this book, with the Creature from the Black Lagoon carrying off a scantily clad lass, as swamp monsters do. Issue #1 has been hitting major financial milestones, with issue #2 versions not seeing the same heights. It’s atypical, but they’re still moving books rapidly, with an FMV finally settling in. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 67%, with a high sale of $22 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $13.

17 Absolute Batman #1 – Logo – Foil
Oh my dear sweet Stan Lee was this logo dragged through the mud before we ever got to see it in practice. It was absolutely decimated leading up to the release of the first issue. Then, it hit, and we all saw what badass things Batman was getting up to with his new toy and, ultimately, the tone it set. Then, it became socially acceptable to like it, and immediately, books featuring this logo on the front and center got a second look. That includes this book, one of the lesser-known variants in the deluge of variants we’ve received. Still, it’s a solid book, and another collector can pursue to get that coveted issue #1 into their PC’s. We tracked 15 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 17%, with a high sale of $60 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $26.

18 The New Mutants Vol.1 #98 – Rob Liefeld – Regular
Despite releasing in theatres over four months ago, Deadpool and Wolverine is still being discussed heavily online. With interviews galore, fans are still theorizing what comes next for both characters and, of course, checking in with the creator of the scarlet motor mouth, Rob Liefeld. He’s returning to his small press roots with his return to Youngblood, which made it well-known he was leaving Deadpool behind after 30+ years. Overall, there is still a TON of talk surrounding this book, and even before the film’s release, it had cemented itself as a modern grail for many collectors. Deadpool is beloved, and fans just want a piece of him! We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 22%, with a high sale of $2,005 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $332.

19 Mark Spears Monsters #1 – Mark Spears – Borderlands – Amazing Spider-Man #129 Homage (Limited 300)
Yet another instance of layered delivery! Again, the Mark Spears team highlighted the Wolfman and a killer depiction at that, but with an awesome homage to boot and limited availability. Homaging ASM #129 (the first appearance of the Punisher) was inspired. It’s paid off on the aftermarket, as fans have been on a crusade to collect all versions of this book released, and more to come on the horizon. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 14%, with a high sale of $20 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $20.

20 Absolute Batman #1 – Nick Dragotta – Foil
It’s a bit wild to see, but typically, the virgin foil variants do better on the aftermarket initially than the Cover A version. It’s mostly due to an emphasis on the art, but it’s reversed with this book. Cover A is bodying this variant in terms of FMV. Part of that is due to availability, some collector’s aversion to foil covers, the initial price point at the time of purchase, and more. Still, fans are getting copies of Absolute Batman #1, and that includes this shiny version! We tracked ten copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 20%, with a high sale of $100 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $26.
