RUNNERS UP

11 Mark Spears Monsters #2 – Mark Spears – Cover C – Creature Feature
Mark Spears’ Monsters continues its reign as we roll into the new year! Since the first issue’s debut, MONSTERS has been a frequent guest on our Top Ten and Runner-Up lists. There hasn’t been a tried and true formula to figure out which cover would be the most popular, but there is usually one on our lists. This week, a Creature from the Black Lagoon-looking creature is heating up the aftermarket. This cover is going on two months after its release, and it is still a trending item! We tracked 10 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 11% with a high sale of $28 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $21.

12 Captain America Vol.1 #230
Marvel has been really marketing this specific scene in recent promotional material for Captain America: Brave New World. The first time this scene debuted, it ended on a final shot that is a near replica of this cover (instead focusing on Red Hulk and Sam Wilson). That initial shot sent fans on a hunt for this iconic cover. However, it also brought to question how Sam, a normal human, could sustain a punch from the Red Hulk without a super soldier serum. Almost as if Marvel was responding to fans, a new TV spot was released. In this TV spot, we see the continuation of the first tease, showing Sam get hit with full force and sent bouncing off several cars. In this scene, we also get a glimpse of a familiar purple aura that was prominent in T’Challa’s kinetic absorption abilities from his Black Panther suit. The extended scene gave fans reassurance that Sam has a few tricks up his sleeves to go up against this titan. It also brought this book back onto everyone’s radar! We tracked 12 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 86% with a high sale of $415 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current FN raw price of $29.

13 Absolute Batman #1 – Nick Dragotta – Regular
In case you have forgotten about it, ABSOLUTE BATMAN is trending once more! There was a period of time when the Dark Knight fell off of our lists, but that time is over. Last week, this book made it to spot 19. This week, it made a massive jump to #13. Fans of the series or collectors catching up on their collection are keeping this book moving. Will it continue with strong sales and make a jump to our Top Ten? Make sure to tune in next week! We tracked 51 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 3%, with a high sale of $129 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $39.

14 Mark Spears Monsters #3 – Mark Spears – Bird City Comics – The Bride Double Sided (Limited 600)
In a little over 2 weeks, the 3rd issue of MONSTERS will be unleashed. Very rarely do we see a preorder book hit our top lists; however, this issue is one of those exceptions. The Bride is a character that fans have enjoyed seeing on the cover and has been the reason for a few MONSTERS covers to trend on the aftermarket. For fans of this character, this book is making waves even before its release. It is the first cover to feature a full body shot of The Bride, and it is limited to only 600 copies. Will you be preordering this cover? We tracked six copies sold at a 7-day growth trend of 100%, with a high sale of $67 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $66.

15 Timeslide #1 – Rob Liefeld – Hidden Gem (1:50)
This book was marketed as a glimpse into future storylines to debut in 2025. In this book, we see the introduction of a couple of new characters—a cameo of Avery Rider and the full appearance of Vacuna. There is also a weird little symbiote in one of the panels that may or may not be significant. In fact, we won’t know the significance of these characters until they reappear in future stories. If they do play prominent roles in this year’s storylines at Marvel, a 1:50 ratio cover of their first appearance could prove to be extremely valuable! We tracked 6 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 18% with a high sale of $125 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $106.

16 Superman #680
If you haven’t already seen it, make sure to do yourself a favor and check out the new Superman trailer! It debuted at the tail end of last year and received a ton of positive responses. It became the most-watched DC trailer ever released in just under 24 hours! There is way too much to unpack in the trailer, but one of the highlights was the first glimpse we got at Krypto. The lovable alien furball made his onscreen debut and was immediately loved by fans. This love translated to fast movement on a hot variant cover featuring the super pup. The aftermarket has blown up as many of these Krypto covers find their forever homes. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 13% with a high sale of $75 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $58.

17 Ultimate Universe: One Year In #1 – Alessandro Cappuccio – Spoiler
Next week is the release of ULTIMATE WOLVERINE #1, and there is a ton of hype behind it. Wolverine was already a popular character, and the debut of the new Ultimate Universe was also positively received. Put those two together, and we’re likely headed to a massive debut for Wolverine. However, even though his solo series kicks off next week, Ultimate Wolverine’s first appearance occurs here, in this issue. And it is alongside Nick Fury as well! We are likely to see this book trend higher when Ultimate Wolverine comes around, but for now, we’ll just wait and see. We tracked 14 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 0% with a high sale of $60 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $11.

18 Spawn #1 – Todd McFarlane – Regular
SPAWN is one of those books that randomly trends on the aftermarket. Sometimes, it is due to a new movie announcement or the announcement of a new partnership. Spawn has appeared in many mediums but most recently has frequently appeared in several video games. The latest news that sent this book soaring was the announcement that Todd McFarlane would be returning to the Spawn series beginning this year. It looks like that news is still being felt on the aftermarket, as no new announcements have been made. We tracked 22 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 49% with a high sale of $135 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $29.

19 Hulk #1 – Ed McGuinness – Regular
We’re getting closer to the debut of Captain America: Brave New World! We’re also getting ready for the MCU debut of the Thunderbolts in the Summer. A new TV spot highlights both Sam Wilson and Red Hulk as they duke it out on the street. This new TV spot brought back a familiar Captain America cover to the Runner-Ups, so it is likely it also brought this key issue back to our lists too. It could also be the recent surge in rumors as these movies get closer to release. Rumors have started going around that Red Hulk will be joining the Thunderbolts and that there is a World War Hulk movie in development that will also feature Red Hulk. Lots of these have no evidence behind the statements, but we all know how rumors inflate the aftermarket sales! We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 2%, with a high sale of $345 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current NM raw price of $76.

20 Batman: The Long Halloween – The Last Halloween #0 – Tim Sale – Batman Day Edition
This reprint of THE LONG HALLOWEEN SPECIAL has been popular on the aftermarket, going back and forth from our top lists. This week, this book lands in the #20 spot. This book was a Batman Day special for fans back on Sept. 21st. It has been nearly 4 months, and seeing this book still trend on the aftermarket is impressive. The reason is likely due to a recent announcement on Matt Reeves’ Batman II film. The director announced that the film would be delayed but that he would be taking it in a different direction than initially intended. Many speculate that Reeves will be adapting The Long Halloween storyline, leading into a close of the trilogy on an adapted story of Dark Victory. This rumor has been a longstanding one that has yet to have support behind it but it is a fan favorite that drives sales to this book! We tracked six copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 158%, with a high sale of $20 for an NM copy and a current NM raw price of $17.
