RUNNERS UP

11 Magik #7 – Yasmine Putri (1:25)
The community loves a good Magik cover, and they got that with this 1:25 ratio variant from Yasmine Putri. They also love first appearances, and they got that with the debut of the Embodiment, leader of the Eternal Dawn, a secret society within the Marvel universe. It’s quite new, but collectors have had their finger on the pulse of this Magik run since it debuted, and that hasn’t changed. We tracked seven copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of -11% with a high sale of $48 for a NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $32.

12 Predator Vs. Spider-Man #4 – Bjorn Barends (1:25)
Spider-Man VS the Predator, who knew this would be something comic nerds would crave?! We knew, that’s who! Evidenced by the outpouring of love for this small run, and the variants it’s delivering. This 1:25 from Bjorn Barends was the variant winner for issue #4. Oddly enough, FMV is hovering around ratio right after release. But, this was one that LCS likely didn’t order a ton of to hit ratio, despite it being the final issue. It’s an online aftermarket darling, though, and one collectors are eager to get their hands on. We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 42% with a high sale of $40 for a NM+ copy and a current raw NM FMV of $26.

13 Justice League #1
*Potential Superman Spoilers Ahead* We got the briefest of glimpses of Sean Gunn as Maxxwell Lord in the recently released Superman (and in the Peacemaker Season 2 trailer), instead spending much more time with his benefactors, the Justice Gang. Still, his shadow loomed large over the film, and without a doubt will play a larger role in the future. Naturally, collectors visited this book, his first appearance, before he became more of a focus in the DCU. We tracked 29 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 38% with a high sale of $95 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $10.

14 Superman #680
Krypto the Wonder Dog/Super Dog has been around since 1955! He’s old news, but the renewed focus on the character has been compelling. Part of that is the narrative surrounding James Gunn’s choice to include the character as an integral part in Superman, and his modeling of Krypto after his rescue pup. Still, audiences have been loving Kryto before the film’s release, and even more so now. While this book isn’t his first appearance, it is an iconic cover from Alex Ross that epitomizes Krypto for many collectors, and they’re willing to pay the price for it. We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 46% with a high sale of $200 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $36.

15 The New Guardians #2
Take this with a grain of salt, but here goes. For a while, the online community has figured that Michael Rooker would be playing SnowFlame in the upcoming Peacemaker Season 2. That hasn’t been confirmed nor denied, but speculation remains. Being that SnowFlame is a hero powered by friggin’ cocaine, it is a tricky subject to tackle. But, with Gunn at the helm, the Peacemaker series would be an optimal place to get away with it. Still, fans have been steadily picking up his first appearance in this book for a while now, with a recent uptick. We tracked 19 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 18% with a high sale of $160 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $25.

16 Butterfly #1
Back in 2023, it was announced Daniel Dae Kim would star in a series adaptation of this comic from Amazon. It went way under the radar for years, until Amazon dropped a trailer for the show last week. All of a sudden, collectors are in a hurry to secure the debut issue in this run before the first episode drops in August. We tracked seven copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of + 18% with a high sale of $150 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $27.

17 The Amazing Spider-Man #129 – Gil Kane – Regular
This book marks the first appearance of the Punisher, and is a major key for generations of collectors. With the inclusion of the Punisher in the recent Daredevil: Born Again, and his reported inclusion in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he’s not going anywhere. Considering Kevin Feige has emphasized the future Spider-Man flick being a “street level story,” the Punisher is likely to be heavily involved in that. The aftermarket has, and is, acting accordingly. We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 20% with a high sale of $3,505 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $813.

18 Spawn #1 – Todd McFarlane – Direct
Spawn is the aftermarket king and changes hands more than mixtapes in the ’90s. This book is a rite of passage for collectors at this point. We tracked 25 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 14% with a high sale of $133 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $28.

19 Uncanny X-Men #17 – Ejikure – Virgin (1:50)
This book marks the first appearance of Mutina, but Cover B marked the first cover appearance of the character. Of course, collectors pivoted to the hard-to-find 1:50 virgin variant Ejikure, as the highest ratio available and best look at the new character. We tracked 13 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 16% with a high sale of $200 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $48.

20 The Omega Men #3
For years, Jason Momoa was hyped as Lobo. Then the casting announcement came. Then, the behind-the-scenes pictures. And now, purely hype. With the success of Superman, the immediate love of Milly Alcock as Supergirl, and the plan to include Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl movie, his trajectory is on the up and up. But, he hasn’t been the focus of attention, yet, so collectors are quietly securing the first appearance of Lobo before an official set photo or trailer hits! We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 1% with a high sale of $285 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $86.
