Risk and Reward Batman Arkham Knight

What up CHU? Mel the Movie guy here with another edition of Risk and Reward. This week I want to discuss the potential of some books that hit the market this past Wednesday that could be Low Risk with a potential of being a Big Reward.

So I know the DC books have a bad rap for being bad spec books, but I think these are different.

The first one being Batman Arkham Knight #1 Based off the video game of the same name. This book is the introduction in comic form of a new villain. Arkham Knight and on any other day this would be a no risk at all leap…but where the risk comes in at is the possibility of the person under the mask being a villain that has already been introduced. There is plenty of speculation of who it can or couldn’t be, however where the reward part comes in is if the character is a brand new baddie that sticks around for a while and gains popularity ala Harley Quinn. This regular cover issue could be still had for cover price
making this a low risk with high reward potential.

My HIGH RISK HIGHER REWARD PICK WOULD BE THE ARKHAM KNIGHT 1:25 which goes for about $25 currently.

The second one this week we had the release of Detective Comics End Game one shot. There is quite a buzz going around that the Jokers Son could be a prominent figure in DC lore, this issue has dried up on eBay for cover price and is now approaching $6.00.

So let’s say he becomes a major baddie then my Low Risk High Reward pick would be his 1st Appearance in Detective Comics #608 which can be found under 5 bucks right now.

I believe these books have great investment potential and you could see gains in the near future, so good luck with your specs and remember have fun.

  1. yah….my gut told me that DCEG was something that was going to be important along with DC Secret Origins #10….had a few week to stock up at MLCS,but waited to long and only managed to get 2 copies of each…would have liked to have gotten at least 4 each…..no doubt these will be $15-$20 comics by summer!!!!!!!

    1. Yeah, I got a copy of DCEG to read bc I have been enjoying Batman so much. DCEG reminded me of why I quit reading the big two. I was just sitting here like ‘what the eff was that’ after I read this book.

  2. Thanks Emanuel!!!!
You saved me some time and $ lol. That review is a good one and its true the art sucks for being a batman book. I will most likely buy the detective comics 608&609. And pass on the endgame. And thanks for the good spec Mel.

  3. Arkham Knight #1 is solid. I picked up the 1:25. The game has a rabid fanbase, and this is the last game in the trilogy.

  4. I sold my 1:25 and kept the game variant, thinking that would have more value in the long run…
Exact opposite thing will probably happen though!
