Covrprice.com Top Ten for Week Ending 9/19/25

Since Covrprice.com  came on the scene, they have become a go to spot for watching eBay trends on comics. They scour thousands of eBay sales to cultivate data to spotlight the hottest selling comics. Here is this week’s Top Ten Comics:

This week is an odd week, 9 of the top 10 are all from the same series. But due to the heated political nature, the covers are not being shared. Read on for the top 10

RED HOOD #1 – ALL COVERS | DC (on eBay)
Sensitive content ahead: This entry addresses a real-world controversy that generated substantial aftermarket activity. We report on market trends and sales data; this coverage does not reflect CovrPrice’s opinions or positions.

Please note: Our Top 10 is not curated and is purely data-driven. It reflects sales data from the previous week, which ends on Sunday nights. Our role is to report market activity, not to manipulate or hide trends. Given the significant coverage around this book, its appearance should come as no surprise. This list is never intended as a “what to buy” guide, but as a snapshot of what has already been purchased. What you choose to collect is always up to you. Our commitment remains to transparency, accuracy, and a deep love for this industry.

What Happened: DC Comics has cancelled Red Hood following inflammatory social media comments made by writer Gretchen Felker-Martin. DC issued the following statement:

“DC Comics cancels existing orders for Red Hood #2 and #3, and any future orders. Retailers will be credited for all invoiced copies of Red Hood #1, including sold copies. Posts or public comments promoting hostility or violence are inconsistent with DC’s standards of conduct.”

Lunar Distribution asked retailers to stop selling any remaining inventory. Reports indicate that many stores have destroyed their copies, while many copies entered the aftermarket, driving spikes in value across all covers. DC also requested that retailers not distribute the Batman Day Gotham Sampler, which contains this book.

Sales & Market Information: We’ll refrain from providing the market values for each title this week. With that said, here’s some information for perspective on just how much the market reacted to this issue.

Market Data:

Over 1,122 tracked sales across all covers (excluding bulk sales)
500+ sales for Cover A alone
This is the highest-trending comic we’ve ever seen in the aftermarket
Over 1,000 copies are currently listed on eBay.
Comparisons to past high-profile releases:

Batman: Damned Covers A & B – 746 tracked sales in the week of release
Spider-Man #7 – 1st Spider-Boy – 432 tracked sales (143 for Cover A Ramos)
News Coverage:

38 distinct articles/pages across major outlets, comic trades, local TV sites, and blogs (e.g., CBR, The Daily Beast, ICv2, The Wrap, Wired, Bleeding Cool). Multiple sites highlighted aftermarket activity.
Numerous social media posts (at least 45 tracked on YouTube).
Many urged the industry not to purchase this title. Still, the coverage ended up having the opposite effect, actually driving fans to their local comic shops at a time when copies were still available on shelves, thereby fueling aftermarket sales trends.

Amazing Spider-Man #36 (2001): (on eBay)
Aside from Red Hood, the other notable book on this list is the 9/11 tribute on Amazing Spider-Man #36 – Vol. 2. Released in December 2001, this issue was also highly scrutinized for aftermarket sales. However, due to its pre-social media release, it did not receive the same level of attention at the time. Its inclusion highlights its return to the Top 10 every year at this time, when collectors actively seek to obtain a copy for themselves, in remembrance.

This list provides an opportunity for community support and unity, highlighting our shared passion for comics. Politics and world events can impact our hobby, but CovrPrice aims to provide a safe, fact-driven space for all collectors.
