THE TOP 10
1 Wonder Woman #25 – Daniel Sampere – Cover D (on eBay)
A brand new villain debuts in this past week’s issue of Wonder Woman! If you were expecting a big entrance with tons of backstory for Matriarch, that’s not where this issue goes. Instead, it teases plot threads to be explored with this new villain. Is Matriarch Amazonian? Is she related to the current Amazon fugitive, Emilie? Why does she have a Green Lantern ring and a Legion ring?! This cover debuts the character with artwork from her panel appearance in the interior of this book. It is the only cover released featuring the character. We tracked 100 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 97% with a high sale of $30 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $25.
2 Skinbreaker #1 – David Finch & Annalisa Leoni – Black Foil Logo – Thank You (1 Per Store) (on eBay)
The ashcan for this book has been floating on and off our Top Ten lists for the past couple of months. Finally, the highly anticipated series was released last week. Like many books of late, this issue’s top seller comes in the form of a surprise thank-you variant to retailers. This black foil logo book was only distributed as a one-per-store variant for retailers that ordered the series. As has been the trend, the elusive and rare cover has become the best-selling cover of this new series’ drop! We tracked 77 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 16% with a high sale of $80 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $50.
3 Web Of Spider-Man Vol.1 #36 (on eBay)
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is back on our Top Ten! Tombstone was a top rumored villain for this film, which claims to bring Spider-Man back to being a “friendly neighborhood” superhero, but that rumor has been made official as Marvin Jones III, as Deadline announced his casting as Tombstone. Tombstone makes sense as a villain, given that the villains are rumored to be an organization run by Mr. Negative. The new rumor comes from a well-known leaker, who claims a big fight will take place between Tombstone and Punisher. This was a fight that fans wanted to see, and now it seems like they might get it! We tracked 90 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 32% with a high sale of $300 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $28.
4 Superman #30 – Tom Reilly – Pumpkin Spicy (on eBay)
Two weeks ago, Nightwing kicked off DC’s pumpkin spicy covers by putting his own pumpkin on display. The cover was a huge hit and became a Top Ten seller (and remains so to this day!). This week, Nightwing received tough competition from spicy Clark Kent. Kent shows off his physique in true lumberjack fashion, showing off why he’s called the Man of Steel. These books aren’t keys or pushed by media rumors. Instead, these books have become highly collectible because they are just fun covers! We tracked 20 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 249% with a high sale of $25 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $21.
5 Nightwing #130 – Kevin Wada – Pumpkin Spicy (on eBay)
Nightwing’s night buns are back! Unlike most spicy and risque covers that feature women in scantily clad outfits, DC is bringing back the boys. Kicking off their pumpkin spicy covers is Nightwing. He sets the bar high as he dons an orange Speedo to show off his pumpkin spinning skills. It’s really a unique and fun trend to follow! Wonder Woman released her pumpkin spicy cover last week, but only Nightwing and Superman are trending spicy covers! We tracked 32 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100% with a high sale of $40 for a Raw NM+ copy and a current raw NM FMV of $29.
6 Mark Spears Monsters #7 – Mark Spears – Cover D – Famous Monsters Of Filmland Homage (1:25) (on eBay)
Mark Spears continues to release the heat! The seventh issue of his hit series was released last week, and fans swarmed to the aftermarket. There were some great covers, featuring a JSA CLASSIFIED #1 homage, a Halloween II homage, and a metal cover. However, the top variant this week goes to the classic monster variant, featuring Frankenstein! This retailer incentive brings back a classic horror monster with a nostalgic movie poster layout. It’s a fantastic cover to add to anyone’s Mark Spears collection! We tracked 16 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 22% with a high sale of $125 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $45.
7 Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman #1 – Ryan Stegman – Homage (on eBay)
Deadpool and Batman set off the big crossover event, over 20 years since the last crossover event between the two comic titans. This book took off last week and is still going strong this week. It features the first appearance of Logo, a Wolverine and Lobo amalgamation. The character is also set to feature on the cover of the 2nd print, releasing next month. What made this book pop is the cover homage to INCREDIBLE HULK #340. It is a great homage cover, and fans agree, racking in those aftermarket sales for a second week in a row! We tracked 88 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 100% with a high sale of $20 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $24.
8 Amazing Spider-Man #1 – Ryan Pancoast – Magic The Gathering (on eBay)
Magic: The Gathering released its Spider-Man set this past Friday, and the aftermarket has been crazy. Infinity Stone cards have been selling for over $15K! There is a ton of hype behind this new set, and that hype has also made it to the comic-collecting world. This comic book was sent as a one-per-store cover to retailers… but not comic retailers, game shops! It is meant to be used as a prize for winning the first official MTG: Spider-Man tournament. The promo was intended for use at a special event scheduled for November. However, it has already found its way online, and the variant has been on fire. Only time will tell if it will hold its value after more copies are officially released after the tournaments have completed. We tracked eight copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 26% with a high sale of $200 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $148.
9 Absolute Batman #1 – Nick Dragotta – Regular (on eBay)
The series is approaching its 13th issue and the full appearance of Absolute Catwoman. It has received tons of praise and has been a widely successful series. Even though the series is already a year out, the first issue of this book is still a top seller. It continues to take a spot on the Top Ten as fans secure copies for themselves. It has been one of the most consistently selling books this past year and will likely continue to be as we get further into the lore of the Absolute Universe. We tracked 17 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 10% with a high sale of $145 for a CGC 9.8 copy and a current raw NM FMV of $42.
10 Marvel/DC: Deadpool/Batman #1 – Steve McNiven (1:25) (on eBay)
Another great Deadpool/Batman cover makes it on our Top Ten! This one isn’t an homage but rather a great, bloody brawl between two fighters. It’s brutal. Wolverine’s claws have ripped through Batman’s costume and, in certain spots, even through his armor. Meanwhile, Wolverine has no F’s to give as he gets sliced up by Batman’s batarangs. Two great heroes, bloodied and battered to give fans a dream VS cover… It’s what comics are all about. We tracked 34 copies sold, at a 7-day growth trend of 40% with a high sale of $38 for a Raw NM copy and a current raw NM FMV of $20.
